Ortega_9
Hi guys. as promissed, I´ll start a build thread for my supercharged 350z drifter. The plan was to build a supercharged 350z drifter for the 2013 season, I did alot of reading up on what I wanted, and I always liked the 350z, so that became my main focus... Then I needed some more power, and wanted to go the good old turbo way and fit a 1 or 2 jz engine, as I know theese engines well... But then I got a great deal on a supercharger kit for the vq35de engine, and bought the kit even before I had the car, but glad I decided to keep the vq engine... Then I found a nice spec. 350z GT-pack in the UK and made a bid on the car... ( and got it ) The car was bought last fall in the UK and driven to Denmark. Pretty nice motor.... Well speced, alot of parts put on it... but a bit riced.. everything was fitted with wood screws :-S but still some expensive parts... and a brand new 6 speed gearbox and reconditioned engine... nismo bodykit, sparco seats, KW coilovers, full dual japspeed exhaust, omp steering wheel etc... you get the picture... The car was stripped down and metal fabrication started... ALOT of spotwelds was drilled to remove the metal crap from the inside... Ripped out the entire electrical harness, ass I´ll be fitting my own. I made a FIA spec cage and fitted it, and made all the mounts, dash, seats etc. and painted the inside... Then made up a new brake line system without ABS, and with linelock, hydraulick handbrake and a manual brake BIAS valve.... Then gutted the engine bay, stripped the engine, and I´m making a new fuel line setup, getting ready to paint the engine bay... Thats pretty much where i´m at now... so I´ll try to keep you posted... And Here is some pictures of the work so far..

Ortega_9
This Is what she looked like when I got the interior out... :-S ALOT of work here....
Ortega_9
The I got to work, drilling out a HELL of alot of spotwelds and then it looked pretty much like this And removed the sound deadening with dry ice... And got this... :-) result! Then I started on the cage... wanting to get the car aproved for all races, I went for a design that would surpass all regulations And did up all the brackets, for seats, handbrake, dash, brakelines, H harness etc. Then The interior was painted... I always wanted a white interior on a track car... looks so clean... but not sure I can keep it that way ;-)
bronzee
This is going to be an interesting build. Should be nice solid power for sliding.
Ortega_9
Then I got to work removing the engine and everything else up front.... Freeing up alot of space by removing the ekstra firewall in the engine bay, and removing alot of wheight with removing A/C, and everything that i dont need... I stripped down the engine, getting it ready for cleaning and refitting of the new parts I´ll be fitting a throttle body with cable pull insteed of the E-gas system, as I want to keep it as simple as possible... Then I started refittng stuff, I fitted the handbrake, and all lines to the rear, got the line lock fitted, and thats pretty much where I´m at... I´m fitting the brake BIAS valve and the brake lines to the front when i get the engine bay painted... Ohh and my new tripple plate OSgikken just landed... hope the diff and gearbox can hold up to the punishment... But thats pretty much it for now... doing alot of small things to get everything cleaned up, this takes time... I´ll keep you posted

Ebized
Looking very interesting - thanks for the larger pics BTW The use of dry ice to remove the sound deadening material was very clever - I can recall several members on here in the past who have sweat blood and tears getting rid of it in their builds, so a handy bit of info there

Ortega_9
Thank you all for the support!, It makes blogging about it so much more fun... tonight I´m fitting the tein tie rod kit, witch is IMO the best out of the box angle increasement kit for the 350z. Only cutting needed is the bumpstops that needs to be cut down ( or removed, but a bit scetchy and could lock up the wheels at full lock ) so I´ll keep them, but cut them down.... Fitting the "huge" spacer on the tie rod and locktite´n it when fitting.. thats pretty much it... And also getting the engine bay cleaned and ready for paint.... maybe even throw down some paint tonigh... I`ll post some more pictures when I´m done later... Here you can see the much longer threaded piece on the tein tie rod... And the spacer thats going on... I remenber the "tiny" spacers we fitted back in the day on s13 silvias etc.. and what a difference it made... so I have high expectations... Ortega_9
And fitted... Bump stop cut down to 25mm, I´ll have to see if that´s enough... but seems like noticeable more lock.... But I think my steering rack is broken... it drips hydraulic fluid out on the left side when you turn the wheel... the rubber dust boot was filled with it... crap.! ohh well, another thing for the "to do list"
CrumbMC
Looks Good! I like the sound of your brake setup Edited January 31, 2013 by CrumbMC
Ortega_9
thanks, I don´t know if the brake bias valve will be enough for splitting up the front and rear so It dosen´t lock up on the rears in the turns.... but I´ll have to see... I did the same with a few other ABS cars witch had the ABS removed... And got the engine bay prepped today for paint, I sanded everything down with a 500 grid, anglegrinded the few spots of rust all the way down, and zink sprayed them and let them dry... them I gave it another pass with the zinkspay... dryid, then shot some primer.... later tonight I might get some paint in there... or tomorrow... Pictures... Bfoe primer And after primer.... I think I´m going for black in here... I know my self enough to know that I´ll destroy it if I do a white engine bay And pretty ghetto paint i know , but driftcar, not showcar... Ortega_9
thanks... Ohhhh and could I get an admin to change the title from superchraged to supercharged... Done Thank you very much And I´m done for tonight... pretty high on fumes And with one engine bay in piano black.... shitty pic.... but I didn´t realise it was so fogged up in the garage before I took off my mask I promise I´ll try to remember my real camera, so that you can have some decent pictures to look at.... And when the paint dryes I´ll fit the rest of the brake system and lines.... Thanks for watching.
