The G Man Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Lots of products out there, for a shiney set of tips I've always used Autosol metal polish Quote
cmck13 Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Megs to clean and then Finish Kare 1000p to seal, its specifically designed for wheels and exhausts and is effective at up to 250 centigrade. Link below. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/ ... d_589.html Quote
stubzie83 Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 When I got my Zed the exhaust pipes were black with grime. Would not shift with normal soap. I used Brasso to loosen up the grime and then some contractors solvent (orange oil based) to dissolve the sticky tar and other stubborn residue. I then used Meguir's NXT metal polish to get them shiny. The Megs contains a wax and makes them easy to clean, just wash and then top up with Megs to keep them looking shiny and clean Quote
SteveRS Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I use Autoglym metal polish, it does a great job. Quote

ATTAK Z Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Brillo pad is a good starter if they're not too bad ... then Autosol Quote
SteveRS Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I use the second one Autoglym metal polish in the tube) and apply it with a polishing cloth and then use another polishing cloth to buff it. Like some have said you can also use a very fine wire wool, grade 0000 Quote
bronzee Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Turbo Wax metal polish for me. http://www.turbowax.com/prod/TurboWaxAluminumPolish But my Z is always clean, so guess that's kind of cheating. Also if you want to keep the inside of the pipes clean, when you've finished washing the car, grab a few sheets of kitchen tissue and wipe the inside of the pipes whilst damp. Will keep them looking good. Others following always notice. Quote
Ebized Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Take a peek at Husky's work here viewtopic.php?f=22&t=40893&hilit=polishing+exhaust +1 - you don't need to take the exhaust off to clean the tips but if they need the level of work that Husky had to do then follow his process as that was supurb job Quote
arekkusu Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Autoglym metal polish & some rags here to polish up to a shine. Quote
