Lexx Posted April 15, 2011 Share Posted April 15, 2011 what does it mean/stand for? The "ska check" represents 2-tone. the dude, is a symbol which came to represent ska/2-tone music. If you google image search 2-tone, you'll see what I mean. two tones - black and white. It later influenced what is known as Third Wave ska. Which is where punk influences came in. Lexx Posted April 15, 2011 Share Posted April 15, 2011 I was once anchored off New York for 2 weeks on a tanker (think it was in 2000 or 2001), and found a yank station that alternated a classic Ska track followed by a modern track. I was in my element. The skipper thought I was bonkers as I was skanking around the ships bridge!
