Lexx Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 what does it mean/stand for? The "ska check" represents 2-tone. the dude, is a symbol which came to represent ska/2-tone music. If you google image search 2-tone, you'll see what I mean. two tones - black and white. It later influenced what is known as Third Wave ska. Which is where punk influences came in. So you get Operation Ivy (later Rancid), and a whole host of other bands. then later you get Pop Ska, SkaCore etc. Quote

spursmaddave Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Some great stuff there Lexx On nightshift a few months back I found a Polish SKA station on the net... Happy Days Quote
Lexx Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I was once anchored off New York for 2 weeks on a tanker (think it was in 2000 or 2001), and found a yank station that alternated a classic Ska track followed by a modern track. I was in my element. The skipper thought I was bonkers as I was skanking around the ships bridge! And an ex of mine refers to it as "Clown Music" Quote
