Well as some may know, i do alloy fitting in the evening for a company that specialise in Genuine Mercedes, BMW, MINI, Smart, Brabus etc

I do this in the evenings as my second job, but yesterday evening has to be to most worrying tyre fitting job ever!

The wheels were 4 Genuine Brabus Monoblock 6's in the special edition 3 piece version, made for the Maclaren SLR. The customer was one of the car showrooms on Park Lane (yep, where all the supercars live) But the car itself has just been bought, and they needed these wheels for this weekend as its being shown off at the Goodward festival of speed.

The 4 wheels themselves came in at £19136 plus £1000 for the tyres.... ouch, and theres me thinking HRE or DPE are expensive..

Anyway few pictures to show off the wheels and fitting.

Never concentrated so hard in my life!!

Anyway if anyone is going goodward this weekend, look out for a SLR on these wheels, if you see it grab a picture for me and ask the owner if he just got it, if so mention the fitter was bricking it while fitting them

Link to were you can buy them from just incase you wanted a set ;)

oh i agree the price is mental, there not 5k a corner imo, there gorgeous wheels and well made, but HRE are just as good and third of the price. But its Brabus, special edition = prestigious. They will set the car off though, that why id love to see some pictures of them fitted to the New SLR.

weight wise, about average really, well i guess for a 20" they were fairly light, but id rather have some weight/strength in them when its going to have the onslaught of an SLR. Weight were a bitch, had to do a sports fit, so less than 30g on each inner and outer of the wheel, luckily they all did without any need to rotate the tyre to move the heavy spot round a bit.

Had to use OEM weights too. No 10/5/10/5 style weights, each weight is a single weight as you can see in the picture.

Good work dealing with those mate!

Although have to say for £20k I was very underwhelmed when the box was opened on the pictures...as people have said they arent actually worth anywhere near £20k but sticking the name on adds a slight premium.
