RobD7
Am shocked that this is still going on - absolute con if you ask me but you're right there's not a lot you can do... And well done Liam! its not a con, they have the car, i entered to win, they chose my video as winning entry... they told me ive won, they told me what garage are modifying it..... ive been to garage many times, they all know at garage its for me.... doesnt seem a con, and plus they know me very well, they couldnt be that mean!? just gettin nowhere though ... everytime i chase it i get a date ill get it, never happens, shes just sat in that garage. all over a headlight and £ between mag and garage i really believe ill get it, but this is now taking the real pi$$ and im helpless! stuck in middle and get nowher! if i get real mad and threaten em, then ill fall out them, then they may not give me it at all! and i have to see them all at all the shows! so didnt wana fall out over it ... i think im being really nice........ but they dont seem to apriciate it or how crap this is for me!! anyway, am ringing them next monday, defo! and ill cut all the crap and excuses, ill just ask for a date ill get the car, if it falls through again.... ill seek legal advice Just to clarify I think their behaviour is a con not the competition! I'm sure you'll get it as there is a lot at stake for them... However, I can't believe you don't have more grounds to nail them for it (legally). When you get the car I'd still be inclined to take a swipe, maybe through a quote at the photoshoot!!!
AmyZed
is it worth you offering to pay the difference they are arguing over? i have offered many time to buy the headlight myself, they both said no ... i know i shouldnt but i just want this car NOW! haha in the write up i doubt theyl quote a word i say! theyll print 'she won, she got it!' not like theyl admit what they actually did
Lexx
Been following this thread right the way through. And I gotta admire your patience with this. I just had a hunt online to see if I could find a copy of the competition add, and see what the smmall print was. Im pretty sure that they will have wrote on the competition form when the winner would be announced. If this date has passed, you are well within your right to force their hand into revealing the winner in the mag or on their website. Once thats done, you can get as pi**ed at them as you like, and they still have to give you the car. And you would have a much firmer legal footing. If it were me, I'd get the car and bugger off, they wouldnt see me anywhere near their stand.

I would have been a lot less patient than you've been !

Yeah that would make sense actually thats possibly right- the garage told me to butt out and that i dont know whats gone on i have just emailed the mag and said i want to talk to them...no reply yet...so ill ring them soon. They owe me an explanation and the truth i know you all think im mad if im still trying to be nice and if/when i get it i still want to go to shows with them- but i really do enjoy being with them at shows (plus they pay for your ticket! helps!) and i really do want a good feature when i get the car- plan is to shoot the zed and my FTO together..that would be special to me, before i sell FTO. i do all the modified car shows, and if i end up on very bad terms with them, itl ruin my days there , so i am trying not to threaten them or scream!!! ill ring them later and im going to be a bit more formal with them and frank... i just want a date ill have it... if they arent helpful then ill seek legal action. though i dont know if ill have a case! ? any one know!? ill google competition laws! surely they have to give me the prize!! or equivalent money? ? 350 Russ
has the car been in the mag before then? or have they modded it from stock? just got to tell yourself it'll be worth it when you finally take delivery of it! where abouts is the garage thats carrying out the work? You'll get discounted tickets on here so wouldnt worry about that The main thing I would push them for is the V5 in your name but I guess then you have to insure and tax it too. AmyZed
i had no reply to me asking to talk to them, so i have researched competition law, " CAP CODE ON PRIZE PROMOTIONS" and they have not been ...whats the word? doing this correctly! so, im seeking legal advice , i feel i tried to be nice and talk to them before this route, am sad ill have to fall out with them now. i guess first step is a solicitors letter!? i think they have breached fair trading standards too... still researching my rights.... Andy
Worth speaking to Citizens Advice Bureau maybe first, get some free impartial professional advice and see where you stand
Bockaaarck
Worth speaking to Citizens Advice Bureau maybe first, get some free impartial professional advice and see where you stand Yep, good thinking, got to be worth speaking to the CAB and getting some advice before you start getting the solicitors involved. Once they've run through the actions you may / may not be able to take, then consider if the Solicitor is the right way to go. Good luck with this Amy
zedwagon
have you tried speaking to them (rather than emailing) and asking to speak to someone senior and telling them you're not happy and are thinking of taking things further? kick up a fuss. if they think they can fob you off they'll probably just continue to tbh, i doubt the CAB would have the specialist legal knowledge to be able to assist in any great depth
AmyZed
I spoke to a solicitor and they say i do have a strong case- but even an initial 'meet' with them is £270 ... after that no win no fee if decide to go ahead.... i told my Dad who knows about whole situation and he said dont do it. he said itl ruin my car shows for me doing that- ie really falling out with them. My dad said keep waiting because ill get it eventually and he said there no rush for the car..... i have listened to my dad ... but as it goes, they replied to my email lastnight (the magazine) and they said they will dedicate some time to this tomorrow (today) and it will be sorted...... ill see what that means and if they call me and tell me what they are doing. if not ill tell them im thinking of taking things further...... but really dont wana go down that route ! I know im going against what most people are saying on here but your dad is 110% right, why bring solicitors into the equation when your getting a free car?? You also have an awesome car at the moment as well, which unless your in deperate need to sell, you can still use? I can understand that having to wait this long for a price, especially the Zed , can be a bit much but if someone had said at the start of the competition "the winner will recieve the car in a year" would you still have entered? Secondly you get on well with the magazine right? so there not going to screw you out of the car, plus going to a solicitors will mean no more car shows which you seem to enjoy. Like i said before just chill and make weekly phone calls to the magazine, i guarantee the car will be worth the wait.

I agree, but there has to be some sort of timescale............how long do you keep waiting........another year.......another year.......the car will have already depreciated about £2k since she 'won' the car............you can't be nice forever........ IanS16
erm.. may be slightly off topic but no more Max Power car shows!! I'd rather have my car now, (as Liam said) its probably depreciating £5 per day.

So a free car that was worth 10k at the start of the year is now worth £8.5k but still free is a problem?? I understand your point, and im not talking about waiting 2 or 3 years Its been 8 months from what i have been reading, would 4 more months really be that much longer to wait if you already had a car and were in no financial crisis? Like you say maybe i am being too nice but the thought of someone giving me my car for NOTHING, apart from a long wait, would be amazing! Its definately not something i would even think about suing somebody over?? especially friends.
