Mopedmark Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Looking good so far But it's all about the nitty gritty Quote
valy Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 (edited) Here we go with a few more updates,in between Christmas and New Year plus a cold managed to get the project moving again as mentioned before my run flats were not fit for the wheels so reordered some new tyres, found a good deal on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup for rears and went for it,size 325/30/19 took them to my local tyres centre for fitting and then I got the car up on stands, removed the old wheels and front bumper it will only come down again once it is ready taped and marked where the cuts will be made on rear panels, decided to go for 40mm on both sides plus had to cut the rust out had a fair bit to cut and sort but managed in between to also get a test fit of the rear wheels I have decided after playing around with the welder that my skills are not perfect to do a very tidy job on welding the arches together so I will be using a metallic filler instead happy with the rear arches on so sealing is the next job then moving to the front before I get the front bumper on I had to respray the front crush bar so did it in between working on the rear panels cleaned and did a few coats of grey primmer 1 coat of black gloss 4 coats of black gloss will be doing a few coats of clear lacquer as well to finish it off also got myself a headlight restoration kit more updates and pics to follow soon Edited December 31, 2016 by valy 5 Quote
Ekona Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Didn't even know you could still get the original Cups! Quote

valy Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 today I wanted to cut the front wings and see how it lines up with the RB fenders/wings thought I will try and minimise the whole cut as some of the chaps on youtube and see if I can get away with it...but no,just had to cut , cut and cut a little more until the fender will fit once it was in place I have decided to connect the front bumper as well and line them up used a few metal self drills to keep it in place although it is lined up the front bit needs a bit of tidying up so left it for later in the week 3 Quote
lmc Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Good progress mate are you planning to extend the inner arches or just do away with them? 1 Quote
buster Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 fair play to ya m8 ......i am sure many on here will be shocked at the lengths it goes to ,to make this kit look right.....personnally i dont think i can bring myself to cut my zed. truely awesome build thread m8..well done 3 Quote
valy Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Good progress mate are you planning to extend the inner arches or just do away with them? not sure at the moment as I didn't get the chance to measure them good all round the fender but I suspect with a bit of fiddling they will be fine Quote

At the amount of cutting, the level of effort and not least the damn width of those rear tyres Quote
Nate Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Not sure how else you lot thought that wide bodies work? They're not just for show, it's so you can fit massive wheels! Quote
lmc Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Must say im rather envious of the space you have to work in. Much nicer than my single garage Quote
