Anyone Xbox 360 owners regret buying a PS4?

Hey guys I think the time has come to upgrade the console as it's become a repetitive farce trying to make enough space on my 16GB 360 for the constant, massive game updates that are required these days. Given that it doesn't appear to be cut & dry about which is the best console to get this generation (I think we can all agree that the 360 was "better" than the PS3?) I was wondering whether anyone had gone back to Sony for the PS4 this time around?

Some of you would say it's only £350 so why not buy both consoles, but I'd rather not have the faff and expense.

I'm a casual / quick fire gamer so leaning more towards FPS, but I do sometimes get wrapped up in RPGs.

I understand that MS will soon be rolling out backwards compatibility for 360 games which is nice, but my experience of this function on the 360 was a bit disappointing. It would be an important consideration. I think Live is a great matching service and have only heard bad things about PS Network.

My only other concern is the respective financial condition of the manufacturers; MS is still cash rich while Sony has been teetering on the verge of bankruptcy for what, ten years now? I don't want to invest in another Dreamcast...

Cheers,

DT

I stayed with MS after the 360, as I prefer their exclusives. Do I regret it? Not in the slightest.

Sure, the Xbone is graphically weaker but since I never have both consoles playing the same game in front of me together, I'll never be able to tell the difference. The games look good enough to me, and that's all that matters. I'm also much happier with how MS roll out their updates compared with Sony, and we seem to be getting genuinely useful additions: The new OS is due imminently too. MS are a software company though, so I'd expect no less. Certainly XBL appears to be more resilient than the PSN too, going on specialist media reports.

I like how I can upgrade the storage by just plugging an external HDD in too, and not having to open the guts up. I prefer the controllers too, far more solid than the PS4 ones but, then again, if you're used to the Dualshock you'll prob not like the Xbone controller. Personal choice and all that.

The BC works really well, as it's a full blown emulator rather than trying to be clever with software. Admittedly I still have my 360 set up in the retro man cave so I don't tend to use the BC stuff that much, but it's nice that it's there.

Ultimately, they're both great consoles. PS4 was much better at the start, Xbone now an equal. Above all buy the console your mates have if you do a lot of CoD/FIFA online stuff, or buy it for the games you prefer. Halo and Forza or Uncharted and GT, no right or wrong answer. All I know is that I love my Xbone, and I'm still not bored of pausing films by talking to my TV! :D

As you may have seen recently I had my PS4 up for sale on here; I bought it when it was launched having previously owned a 360.

I'm not a big gamer in fairness, but I couldn't believe that there wasn't a decent driving game for it! The controller sticks split on everyone who I knew to own the console, and the ps network was always down. So I bought an xboxone as well!

My two mates who got PS4s at the same time as me tried the new console, and we have all now sold our PS4s and own Microsoft's offering.

Plus, from November I believe that you will be able to play old 360 games on it too, of which I have loads.

Only negative in my eyes is that Sky Go is only available on the PS4, despite it being on the old 360...

As I say I am not a big gamer at all, this is just the opinion who is not biased but owned both of them side by side for about 6 months :)

I only ever had an xbox 360 for about a week so can't really make a fair assessment.

I've had every PlayStation console and yes PSN isn't as good as xbox live but it was free on the ps3 so the service wasn't very good. Since they started charging for it on the ps4 the service is much improved.

I have an Xperia z3 so I get remote play from my phone which is surprisingly good. Any chance you could borrow a ps4 for a week to see how you get on with it

Cloud processing will make no difference to the graphics at all, all it could do is help with things like physics calculations. The Xbone will always have poorer gfx than the PS4.

Like I said though, unless you have both versions of one game running at the same time side by side in front of you, how could you ever tell the difference? I couldn't. Games still look amazing. Batman especially is incredible. If I wanted the greatest graphics, I'd go buy a PC as that would wee over both consoles with considerable ease.

Are you a BMW or Audi fan, a Jag man over a Lexus, it's all about personal preference. Games set apart the two consoles and have done for years. Yes the PS4 is more advanced and geared around gaming, rather than TV.

I've never got on with the Xbox series, had two and just couldn't live with them, and it's purely down to the experience. I've owned every PS made, I'm a launch man and love my console.

Me personally as a heavy gamer, the PS4 wins just for the fact the quality, comfort and overall experience of using a PS4 makes me happy. As Will has said if you have friends on a different console it makes sense to move. Gaming is no longer a single player experience, with online gaming you all need the same console. Although I heard that during Ghosts the clan wars were a mix of PS and XBOX gamers, whilst not interacting within the same game, the war results were a combined.

Graphically yes the PS has the upper hand, but as above its not just about graphics. Saying that the differences are marginal. Yes there's more graphical detail, but as Dan says you won't see the difference once you're playing.

Get the ones your mates have!

If you like COD then get the PS4 as Sony have outbid MS on getting the DLC early now. Its only a month and not a deal breaker but still nice.

I have a PS4 and am very happy with it, had a 360 and PS3 before but cant justify owning both now. There isn't much that splits them to be honest.

I have a PS4, I'm a bit of a sucker for the Uncharted Series and had all sorts of problems cancelling X Box live so MS not in my good books. As the OP's said - not a great deal of difference between the 2 consoles - I would get whatever the best deal is at the time if you have no title exclusivity. I would like Titanfall to come over to PS4, Bioshock 1 and 2 were XBox only on release but came over to PS eventually.

Titanfall 2 will def be on PS4, the first game was brilliant and I hate online only FPS games as a rule :)

Tomb Raider looks good, can't wait for that one this year. Quite a few decent releases between now and Christmas

The feeling of a controller literally disintegrating in your bare hands?!

All you have to do is watch the games conferences on youtube, the Sony presentations were dull, I didn't see a decent racing game nor anything else that was 'exclusive' that would make me want to purchase it.

I saw far more intriguing games to spend my time and money on from the MS side.

Of course, which ever one you have bought, you're going to rationalise your purchase decision but just looking at what is coming out it's no contest for me.

Take the Jump and build a gaming PC, Windows 10 will make compatibility between XBox one and PC easier. Its a fun thing to do and you learn a few things along the way. You can always buy a console once they drop in price.

The modding scene on PC makes great games even better, all those littel annotances you have with games are all of a sudden fixed!

Been there and done that - way too much hassle, frustration and expense. Sticking resolutely to the pre-packaged console experience thanks!

Again, not answering the question, but I went for an Xbone a couple of weeks ago. The BC swung the decision form me, plus the fact that all most of my upgrading mates have stuck with MS too.

Also the free Windows 10 roll out and its XBone interoperability came at an opportune time. The Windows 10 streaming works pretty well, at least for single player, so now I can stream the Xbone to my PC and play it from upstairs using my XB360 controller attached to the PC. I've also got my XB360 on a long HDMI cable, so I can play that remotely too. I've yet to try my 360 wheel, but will report back on whether that works via the PC streaming interface.

Close to throwing in the towel with the bloody Xbox now. 13gb of my 16gb HDD now accounts for Battlefield 4 content forced upon me, all controllers and remote are knackered and every demo vid I see of the PS4 looks amazeballs. Think I can justify it by only buying these things once every ten years...

You should get rid of the xbox and get one of these...

Same memory here but non-COD variant: http://www.game.co.uk/en/playstation-4-1tb-console-662719?cm_mmc=Google+Shopping-_-Hardware-_-PlayStation+4+1TB+Console-_-PS4

With 1TB HDD (that's more than a 1000GB) I'm sure it'll take you a while to fill it up. B)

...oh and yes I'm a PS fan. Always have been and although I've lots of experience with both games consoles I've always gone for the Sony when buying it myself. ;)
