  10. Strange one: Not a big job to remove the gear stick for an inspection, but you will have to get under the car to remove the one bolt that connects the stick to the gearbox shifter rod. The rest of the stuff is accessed from inside the car. There is a large coil spring in there which provides the resistance when pressing the stick down. Remember and adjust the top shifter plate correctly on reassembly otherwise you will have selection issues.
  11. Possibly faulty cheap after market cam sensor? Faulty crank sensor? Faulty front O2 sensor?
  12. My thoughts would only be informed guesswork. if I had the car physical I would plug into diagnostics and run a few checks, which is the same as what TDI North would do. Do not expect TDI North to give you any pointers as to what the fault may be as that is how they make there money, in diagnostics and repairs. TDI North will want you to book the car in with them for a chargeable diagnostic test.
  13. I have had no personal dealings, but these guys may be able to help. http://www.tdi-north.com/ These guys are also well thought of: https://www.lockwoodandgreenwood.co.uk/service/
  14. Where are you based and how far are you prepared to travel?
  15. Stop guessing as guesswork can be very expensive. Get a proper professional diagnostic check carried out preferably on Consult or similar to pinpoint the issue.
  16. Common issue, as crude gets stuck in the switch. Simply clean this up and all should be golden. However, if this fails to work and the wiring is all good, then a replacement switch will be required.
  17. What he has said:^^^^ However once you have finished modding the engine I would recommend a tune, probably Ecutek, to get the "potential performance" benefits of your upgrades.
  18. There is only one belt.
