Your original plug is part of the OEM loom. Simply remove all the piggy back DI stuff and connect the original plug back up to the pedal sensor.

I am not a sparky however I have the annual task of sorting out 800 external low voltage lights every Xmas. I run each set of 200 via independent transformers. I would probably avoid tapping into the outside light as your transformer "if required) would be outside. If it was me I would probably hook my transformer up to an inside socket and run some low voltage wires to your fairy lights, providing they are not a hundred miles away. Please do not sue me if you electrocute yourself.

I have found that you are quicker just partially taking the bumper off and removing the headlights which is about 1 hours work from start to finish.

Unfortunately a well documented common issue as WinkJ has stated. However these transportation blocks if not removed at PDI will effect the handling and I am very surprised that the alarm bells were not ringing regarding the poor handling that you must have been experiencing during your 2 years of ownership. Now that it is sorted, go and have some fun in your "new" car.
