  1. If you really, really must get her something then get Lips, but I'd save the cash personally.
  2. Singstar on the PS2/3 really does rape the snot out of any of the competition. You'd be better either grabbing a second hand PS2 + Singstar discs off eBay, or splashing a bit more and going for the PS3 route which is the better choice. Lips on the 360 is a bit naff and nowhere near as polished, Singstar store has just about every kind of song you could ever want.
  3. Another +1 for REIS, they don't accept under 25s though on their sports car scheme so I had to move insurer when I got the Porker as I wanted the missus on it too. As soon as she hits 25 though, REIS will be the first company I'll ring for a quote, Mary and Steve there are brilliant
  4. Bit close to Xmas but worth a punt in case someone wants a tablet bargain...! For sale, one Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, 16GB WiFi model in Black. First purchased on the 25th of August this year, it's led a very sheltered life in my house enclosed in the official Samsung case (which is included in the sale at no extra charge) and always looked after which explains the unmarked screen and body. It really is in as-new condition, and comes complete with the charger and the original box + manuals. I've checked eBay and even refurbished units aren't going this cheaply, and I would put my one up against one of those in terms of condition any day of the week, it really does look like new. I'll chuck a microfibre screen cloth in as well, help keep the screen looking as fabulous as it should. Asking price is £250, and I'll include shipping on that too. Basically it's £430-worth (case included as well, don't forget) of tablet for a bargain. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.
  5. If that's genuine, then it's written in completely unprofessional language. Bloke? Fallen victim? How is that researching at all? Tbh the cost sounds fair to me, considering the material would then be contaminated and have to be disposed of accordingly, which isn't cheap.
  6. Each to their own, I just look at things from a different perspective is all. Would I pay £60 to have a set of two tyres changes at a decent tyre fitters? Yes I would. Easy as that.
  7. Don't get me wrong, I don't pay anywhere near that price myself as I've got a good relationship with my local tyre place, but for the right service I'd be prepared to pay that. Given that it's at least a 30 min job to do it properly and with care, and the money you have to make when people aren't coming in wanting tyres changed, you're looking at an hourly rate of the £60 I guess which isn't unreasonable.
  8. £20 - £30 a corner seems reasonable to me Big chain or small independent? I'd be happy to pay that for somewhere I trusted to look after my wheels.

    Tyre help please

Y will be fine. As you say, it's a higher speed rating anyway.
  10. Pfft, nonsense. Finance doesn't automatically mean you're going to end up broke, and as long as the car is in positive equity it's just as easy to sell it if you fancy a change. I'd much rather have finance on a newer car like a 350Z than no finance but running around in a shed of a 200SX, couldn't care less if it's faster or not. It's all down to the individual, and while I do genuinely admire those with the willpower to save and save and only buy outright, people who go the finance route shouldn't automatically be lambasted as the root of all evil.
  11. Numpties like that deserve everything they get, what an absolute tool
  12. Neil's first post has it spot on, and is very realistic IMHO.
  13. Makes me laugh that the first option you mention it has is the TV tuner, that's the option I always miss out on mine on purpose through fear of embarrassment! Good write up fella, glad to hear you're enjoying it. They are so very quick both in a straight line and round a corner, just lacking a little in emotion for my taste though. No doubt a stunning car to look at and own though
  14. If it says 50, I do 50. Why risk doing a couple more mph for a few miles just to shave 30 secs off your journey, and risk getting a ticket? It's not like you don't know the cameras are there Stick it on cruise and relax. Not a dig a you Jim, more at the people who go flying past doing whatever speed they like. I genuinely don't get it, same as with the people who sit at 85 on the motorway until they see a copper and then slow down to 65: Police could be hiding anywhere with a camera, so why not just do a speed that you'd be happy driving past a marked car at?
  15. Set of Michelin PSS. You'll accelerate faster, corner harder and brake later, no other mod can make you do all three
  16. 452s do not have good grip, they have average grip at best. Feel is also limited due to the sloppy sidewalls. They are the budget tyre for the Zed, and a good choice only if you cannot afford a performance tyre. Vredesteins have better grip, but where they excel is feel and this makes pushing on a pleasure. I love these on a Zed, especially in the winter. PS2s have incredible grip and feel but are being phased out in place of the Pilot Super Sport. These are longer lasting than the PS2 and have better wet AND dry grip, so in short if you were considering the PS2s then the PSS really should be the only ones you should go for. Utterly, utterly wonderful tyres. RE050As are also pretty good (better grip than the VUS but not as good as the Michelin) but considering how close they are to the PSS in cost, I'd spend the little bit extra and get the Michelins.

    redline

I hate to tell you this, but someone appears to have left a Lego brick in your car.
  18. ^^^ This. Contact the ombudsman too if you have no joy, but be sure of your facts with regards to what the policy says, what the chain you used was and the specs of the one you were supposed to use. Gutted for you mate, but hopefully things will work themselves out for you. If you want me to have an eye over the policy I'd be happy to do so, I've won stuff like this before against insurers (Elephant and claiming for the rear glass in the soft-top, they had to change their wording after I pointed out their mistake!).
  19. Guys, let's not mistake what could be a dodgy batch for a rumour that all 452s will definitely crack when used. Mountains = molehills and all that.
  20. Contact Falken and ask them. Not impossible, Toyo had an issue with the first few sets of R1R in the country but that's all been sorted now.

    Next gen 911

I went to the official launch of the 991 earlier I spent the evening getting slowly more p*ssed drinking free champagne I blagged a hardback copy of the new brochure, a Porsche Exclusive catalogue and a metal paperweight in the shape of the 991 I'm also going back week after next to test drive one Epic evening was epic! Must admit, the 991 is lovely up close and I'm going to have to leave my wallet at home on the test drive in case I do something stupid.
  22. IME, the more notice you give people the more they complain. I tend to just turn their water supply off without telling them now and blame an emergency repair, which tends to go down better than "Can I turn your water off for half a day while I fit a new water main please?".
