Agreed, however they are also the only people who can get us out of this mess. It's not a great situation and it does highlight one of the perils of capitalism, but the truth is that if we take all their bonuses then they'll simply up sticks and take their money elsewhere, and then we're truly screwed. Chesterfield has said it better than me in his post above though. Personally I feel that we aim a bit too much flack at the banks for their role in the current crisis: Yes, the dealing they did amongst themselves was shady at best and downright dangerous at worst, but there were also a lot of people out there happy to take that 100% mortgage offer or spend a fortune on credit cards because they were there. On an individual level, we're all as much to blame as if we didn't take all that lovely credit then we'd all have a bit more cash to play with now, myself included. Is a nurse or a teacher worth more than a footballer? The answer is no, as we're all equal on this lovely planet of ours and people tend to drift towards what either they want to do or what they're good at. Nursing or teaching is never going to be a job you do for the money, it's something you do because you love it, and you know that you'll never be a millionaire but you get satisfaction from helping people on a personal level. I deal with sh*t all day (literally!) and I hate my job at times, but it gives me and my employees a decent living and so I put up with that. If I could start again I'd probably rather go into teaching as I look at how much difference Jo makes to the lives of the kids she teaches and I'd love that kind of job satisfaction, but I am where I am and I'll make the most of it. What I won't do is whinge and moan and go on strike because all of a sudden my finances have changed through no real fault of my own and when everyone else is in the same position. If the public sector were being asked to have their pay slashed by 50% and to have no pension at all, they'd be right to be aggrieved and I'd be out there in support of them. As it stands they're only being asked to give up a tiny fraction more, like the rest of us in the private sector have had to, to ensure that we can move forward and start to build this nation of ours back up again.

Except the first one about Coanda is debatable at best since his invention never flew or started up or did anything really, and Paulescu didn't discover insulin in 1922: That was when he first patented the right to manufacture it. He actually isolated it back in 1916, although Banting and Macleod were officially recognised via the Nobel prize for the discovery of insulin in 1923. I guess that's probably why we'd never heard of them before.

Very good point, and while the 86 will almost certainly be the better drive from an enthusiasts POV, Joe Bloggs would probably rather sit in a plush Audi than a lightened Toyota. I think at £22K this car would've been a huge hit, but as it stands it's looking more like a bit of a dodo. Have we had MPG/CO2 figures released yet? I personally don't care about such things, but the market certainly does.

Have you ever read the guff that comes through from the unions regarding the voting? I have, as my missus is a teacher (who voted for no strikes, btw) and it's the most one-sided piece of prose you'll ever have the misfortune to read. Shouldn't the union be putting across the facts and letting it's members make up their own minds, instead of shoving a piece of propaganda under their faces which doesn't mention anything about the reality we find ourselves in? Honestly, it's shocking stuff.

The whole striking thing boils my ****. Until anyone of them can give a credible alternative to the cuts, they can FRO and suck it up like the private sector have had to for the last few years.

He's based at North Weald but does the odd day further north and further south on occasion, stick with the original though Aside from that a track day with someone like Bookatrack or Javelin with an instructor in the morning would be a good shout too, they're tightly run so have no time for idiots which makes them very safe.

Because that's what Subaru will eventually do with theirs, whereas Toyota will go with a hybrid option. Very pleased to see the weight down so low, however it's not exactly a looker (front is scowling and the rear is like a slab) so it'll need to be very special to drive.

As a Leeds fan I was gutted when the news first came through, as he remains the only pro footballer I've ever met many years ago outside Highbury after we beat the Gooners 3-1 at their place, and he signed my programme for me too. My first ever game as well, I was the happiest kid on earth back then! He was an absolute legend for us back in the day, worked so hard and had a great touch along with a strong tackle, perfect midfielder. I can't accept suicide as a way out though, his poor family will be distraught over this, especially his sons. No person should do that to the people they care about, there's always another way. No doubting the guy's talents as a footballer and he always came across as a nice bloke, but I can't help but feel let down by one of my childhood heroes today. I know that's not considered a very PC viewpoint and will no doubt stir some tough feelings, but it's something I feel strongly about.

I ran the RS14s on my old VXR220 and loved them, I'd also previously ran the 1144 on the car too but found them to be only mildly better than the OEM pads, and certainly not worth the halo praise that the VX community tended to give them. The RS14s on the other hand were (as I'm sure you know) utterly amazing, and I would definitely give them a go on the Zed. For a combination of track/fast road use the Performance Friction discs + pads were my favourite setup on my old 350, along with the Endless fluid and the ubiquitous Goodridge lines. Never saw any fade regardless of track or temperature, although I'm not a particularly heavy braker especially on track.

Not entirely sure how much they'd differ from a regular 050A, but those tyres are designed as OEM fit on a Mazda MPV (doesn't say which one) not a Zed. Probably not enough to make a huge difference, but worth bearing in mind and/or contacting Bridgestone for more detail on.

Nissan stuff is very reasonable and comes in a concentrated form. I wouldn't worry about the hassle of putting anything else in when the proper stuff is so easily available.
