  1. True, and it's a conversation I've had with my other half too, but I have to give it to her that it works.

    "Fix A Flat"

The biggest issue is that all the weight there is very low down, which is ideal for handling purposes so when you remove it the rear comes up, reducing grip. Add in that removing rearward weight any way will push the weight balance forward... You can get round it, and an experienced competent drive would use the less weight to their advantage, but for the road I'd much rather have a spare in to get me home if I need to.

    "Fix A Flat"

I have to, as the 911 has no spare. I will never, ever use it though: If I get a puncture, I'm calling the brakedown people. Removing the weight from the boot of the Zed isn't a good idea unless you're absolutely sure about what you're doing, as you'll end up with a car far more prone to oversteer. I always left mine in.
  4. One is a shopping trolley that just happens to have a decent Yamaha engine in it, and yet Toyota didn't bother spending anything on tuning the suspension or steering. The other is a muscular GT car with a proper 6-pot up front and correct wheel drive. Scrabble wagon vs sporty coupe. I couldn't care less if a CTS went past me, I'd still be a happier man.
  5. And on the other side... Let's say that Sarah drove over something very important in the road that they'd spent the last day or night prepping, or she'd gotten in the way of a very important maneuver that was likely to put either herself or her car in jeopardy. I'm thinking something like a crane about to drop a load or whatever. Perhaps the guy had had numerous people drive the wrong way into a clearly coned off area, and it was just bad luck that Sarah actually stopped and got the brunt of his irritation at the complete lack of awareness from some drivers. We've only got one side of the story here. Perhaps the guy wasn't as aggressive as the OP says, maybe more sarcastic, or maybe Sarah made her comment in a bit more of a flippant way. I'm not saying anything like that happened, and I dare say the original story is probably bang on the truth, but all it was was a few harsh words from a bloke in a hi-vis. I wouldn't particularly let it ruin my week, and I'd just stew on it a bit and then carry on with life. I certainly wouldn't bother complaining about it. Next time it happens give as good as you get back, my missus certainly does.
  6. Not a bad shout that!

    Pneus Online

I have, they're very very good, despite the French name
  8. I only need to drop it on a card because I can't do it this month, all things being equal it'll be paid by next month so no interest to pay either I think I'm going to sell my other guitars to fund it though. I know I said I wouldn't, but it makes good sense. Plus it's a lot less hassle to justify to Jo! I jest, she's cool with it and does understand, bless her. I suspect shoes and handbags are on the horizon though...!
  9. BBQ yes, just not B&Q own-brand is what they're getting at (I think!).
  10. Now HMV are gone, where are all the hip chavsters going to buy their Beats By Dre headphones from??!!
  11. Would you want to buy from people with such dreadful customer service? Perhaps more importantly, that filter at the end is the only thing stopping your car sucking up all sorts of nasties straight into the engine: Would you want to scrimp there? Maybe if it was £70 just for the filter I could understand it, but they've also got to include all that shiny metal for that price so how much do you think was spent on the actual filtration? It's not something I would ever consider trying, not when there's so many other quality options around.
  12. Exactly the look I was after, and it did the job perfectly.
  13. Cheap sh*t from a company I wouldn't ask to wash my buttocks for me. Definitely go elsewhere.
  14. BBQ spray paint. That's exactly what I used on my K1 bungs, and it came out perfect. I might even have given them a coat of acid etch primer first, but I can't remember now.
  15. That blue LP is stunning! Right, bit more info. I've spoken to someone else who is selling the guitar I want, albeit not in the right colour, and am going to inspect it on Thursday evening. That'll give me a chance to get a feel for the guitar and see if I like it, and then I can decide one way or another on the other one. If the one I go and see is good enough then I may be tempted to get that instead, even if the colour isn't what I really want. Which I know is stupid, but the colour will match the rest of my collection so I'd actually be better off!
  16. Long days, but if you're happy with that then go for it. I would be fine with those sorts of times, and you can usually knock at least an hour off when you hit the good stuff.
  17. Tell you what I normally do when planing routes, is to use Google maps as much as possible. Plan where you want to go first, let it set the basic route, then start zooming in and seeing where the interesting roads are. Anything windy and twisty is a good shout, but sometimes you'll need to streetview it just to make sure it's not a 30mph limit or a dirt track. Drag and drop the route and it'll sort itself out, you can then use Tyre to add it into a TT-friendly ITN file. I've planned loads of routes this way, and barring one mishap where it took me down what can only be described as a tractor lane near Derby, I've never failed to find decent roads yet.
  18. I'd rather pay another £50 and have the car in a garage than save that and have to park it on the street.
  19. I wasn't sure either, and tbh it's been a fair while since I read a code that way.
  20. Anyone else get P1147 and P0139?
  21. Which MR2? Ex-mk3 owner here
  22. People are greedy b*stards. Sorry to hear you've got to go through all this again, however your insurers should still have all the paperwork from the first time so there shouldn't be much, if anything for you to do.
  23. Statistically if you're had a non-fault claim, you're more likely to claim, hence they're justified in adding to the premium. If you're not happy with that, then there are other insurers to use who don't do that, however they may be more expensive in the first place. Swings and roundabouts really. Use some of that £1300 to put towards it  Call them, tell them everything including the claim (you're quite right to tell them, ignore your mum), then haggle the price down. Tell them you've been offered it elsewhere for £800 and see if they'll match it. I bet they do.
  24. That's lovely
  25. Doesn't need to be a Hunter machine, there's others out there equally or more capable. It's down to the person using it, and I'd go for an expert using string over a numpty using a Hunter any day.
