See, I don't think it is. In terms of quality of materials over the original DE car yes, but it's a design mess. There's dials and buttons and analogue and digital all mixed in, and it's not a particularly cohesive design. The 350 interior may be simple (plain?), but it's a much more rounded package. It's grown into the exterior looks though, for sure. I found it too fussy at first, but now a few years on I really quite like the stance of the car. Makes the 350 look slabsided and bulbous.

I suspect the other half wouldn't be too impressed if she saw me packing those...! It's a good thought though, if I were single. Which I'm not. And I never will be. Because she's awesome and I'd never cheat on her. Ever. Just in case she ever reads this.

The next step up from 1080p, basically. Super hi-def stuff that no-one really makes anything for at the moment, but it may become the new standard once the market is completely saturated with normal HD equipment. Y'know, just to make us all get our wallets out again!

Funny you should mention that, my 997.1 T4S owning mate threw me the keys yesterday and I went for a play. I have to say that it's still a fantastic car, but it's not for me. The weight of the glass at the top does blunt the handling, as does the softer springs and too harsh damping of the gen1 cars. Throttle response from low down isn't as good as mine either, but then it's the older engine. There's certainly more grip in the wet round tight turns, but it just didn't feel as fun to play with as mine, a little too easy to drive quick IYSWIM. It's odd, that makes it sound as if the 4WD gen1 is awful, but it's really not. It's utterly superb, and possibly the best all-round sports coupe you could buy for sensible money. It just makes me appreciate the little differences of mine even more, and I know I was right to pay a little (lot) more for the newer car. I do need to drive a 991 4S I think, I'll have to speak to my local OPC and see when they're getting a car in. I'm at the Cayman launch there next month, might pester them then.

They did that for the end-of-line 997 GTS cars: 2WD, widebody, powerkit engine, few extra odds and sods in the way of GT2RS sideskirts and front lip, but added a (thankfully optional) alcantara with faux leather interior. Most owners just took the standard leather option. It still wasn't cheap (IIRC it was £8K on top of a standard car), but it was pretty much the ultimate non-GT NA 997. I'd love one.

I'd love to watch it, but sod staying up that late on a school night. Next year I might remember and take the Monday off work, just to say I've seen it.

I said I wouldn't want to go. You're quite free to go there if you please. Blimey, people seem to be a bit touchy on here tonight.

Got a link? Be handy to know for others, especially if the guy can supply more.

I didn't say they would use it solely to convict you. I said they'd use it in evidence. You have a crash, police attend, take the video and produce it in court if the CPS feel they have a strong enough case. No different to using CCTV or any other kind of video evidence. There's plenty of case law to back this up, too. But hey, whatever you think. -

Easiest solution? Remove all speed limits, and toughen up the test for dangerous driving. You do the speed you consider safe, but be prepared to defend it in court at risk of 10 years in the clink. Makes 30mph past a school at 3pm incredibly stupid, but allows 120mph on a clear motorway in good conditions. -

Frick How is it even possible to do that?! I'm guessing because he's missing some rubber at the rear, but that's still amazing!

I didn't say they'd use it for speeding: You're right, it would be too much hassle to prove speed with that, but they can happily use it as evidence for any number of other naughty things you can do on the road. -
That they can FRO with, no way I'm spending a small fortune on replacement Porker HID bulbs! I'll just take the 350Z bulb pack I've still got floating around and show it to them if I get stopped

4K plus better lens + better low light capability, basically it's a much better product. Check the GoPro website for the exact numbers.

Ooh good shout mate, I'd forgotten about the breathalyser! Licence I always keep in my wallet anyway, but it can definitely go on the list just in case I change wallets before then.

Or the police can grab it and use it to prosecute you Looks good, shame it's not iPhone5 optimised but I'm sure that'll come. Will give it a try, thanks for the heads up -
So, quick update time. After chatting with some guys on PH, it would seem that although the French Pyrenees look good on paper, and the views stunning, the roads are simply too busy and in too bad a condition to make them worthwhile doing. As such, I've amended the Day Two route to take me into Spain much earlier: http://goo.gl/maps/usPby The N260 is said to be unmissable, and whilst I'm sad to not be heading up and making the most of the altitude changes, it does look a little bit special I have to admit. I'm going to look into cancelling my hotel in Ax-les-Thermes and grabbing a hotel in Spain instead, but if I can't it's only a 30 min detour so not the end of the world. I've also started making a list of things to bring/remember, which so far looks like this: Passport EU medical card Insurance & V5 Hi-vis First aid kit Oil Tools Washer fluid Cleaning stuff Coat/hoody/hats Suntan lotion Aftersun Snacks iPad, iPhone, camera, memory cards GoPro (to buy) Camera mounts Notepad & pen Laptop? Sleeping bag Power cables Travel adaptor Tyre plug I'm adding as I think of it, if there's anything I've missed please shout up. Have also begun re-learning Spanish so I don't look like a complete nubcake when I get out there.

Not convinced I'd want to go anywhere in North Africa at the moment.

You can get some stunning private villas on the Greek islands too if you'd rather do your own thing, I can get you the name of a guy who owns plenty out there if you like.

Without breaking the 6 hour flight rule, it's tough. Mexico or the Maldives would be amazing, but well over the limit. I'd suggest looking at the Canary Islands. You get the guaranteed weather, and it's easy to avoid the touristy areas by picking one of the plentiful 5-star hotels around that tend to have massive resorts so you'd never need to leave. You can be pampered in luxury, eat the best grub or sunbathe to your heart's content, all without leaving the hotel. Have a look on the usual travel sites (Expedia, Trip Advisor etc) and see if any of them take your fancy. Some of them look stunning, if you're prepared to give them a chance.

Budget? Length of stay?

They're not too bad on the pax side, as the footwell is big enough to have that seat quite far forward to allow someone to sit behind. Driver seat is a no-no unless you're a midget, but the biggest trouble is the headroom: If you're an adult, there simply isn't enough for anything beyond the shortest journey. S'okay if you're a kid, but otherwise you're left crouching down which really isn't comfortable. It's why I removed them out of mine, they're pointless and I'm an anti-social git anyway
-
I didn't say they had to be adults

Common sense is also dictated by the driver. If we stopped giving them reasons to lower the limits (speeding in silly places, having accidents etc) then they wouldn't be able to do so.
