  1. I'm always angry at stuff that irritates me. The Daily Fail tends to do that with a certain amount of regularity!
  2. Some branches are better than others. Surely you must have a local garage instead of a Kwik Fit? There must be thousands of them in Sheffield! And a silly question: Are you sure it's just the front pads that need doing, and KF are wrong in saying that they all need doing?
  3. Must admit that's a very good point. The Zed is the bext car for long Euro schleps out of all the ones that we've mentioned, and it's not like it's particularly valuable and so needs the miles kept down.
  4. What a non-story. The subject of the article should be how insurers did get the car fixed and a British engineering company did a fantastic job putting it back together, but instead it's a bloke guessing at his premium. Given how a young footballer would expect to pay £20K just to insure generic red sports car, I don't think £60K (if it is) is remotely expensive. It's 2% of the value of the car, or the equivalent of insuring a £30K 370Z for £600.
  5. What are the car options? For road driving the 911 or Aston will feel more natural as they're not quite as wide as the more exotic supercar choices, so you feel more comfortable in them. That said, I'd be all over the Lambo like a fat kid chasing a Smartie down a hill.
  6. That's pretty much my exact contract. It's a company phone though so I'm not too bothered
  7. They all have short arms and deep pockets, too.
  8. I'm with BBK on this one, no way would I be dipping a relatively open wound anywhere near soapy water. Pain, infection, MOAR PAIN
  9. Loads of room, you just need to be creative! Plenty of room for squishy bags behind the seats, and relocate the alarm sounder (10min job) and you can use the frunk too once you turn the spare upside down. We used to take ours away for camping weekends, great fun Would def go for the MX5 though if you have a lot of stuff to take. Just be aware, the boot isn't that big...
  10. It has a terrible driving position. That alone would put me off wanting to do serious miles in it.

  12. Toyota MR2 mk3 Remove the MGTF from your list, even in 160 guise it's sh*t. MR2 more focused, MX-5 more spacious. Or grab a 3-series convertible of some kind, you'll get an E36 for that surely.
  13. Oh boy are we going to have fun on here tonight then... I had the same knock back in November. I normally send them away as, like you, I'm not on benefits so I don't qualify either. This time I listened, and long story short I managed to get all my loft insulation re-done and all my cavity walls filled, for free! Basically they've run out of people on benefits to give this too, so they're now offering it to everyone as they've still got the funds from government to spend. On top of this, because I've now had this done when they come round with free boilers I automatically qualify for that too! I think this country is ace. People like me who work their arse off get free stuff. Love it.
  14. What size is the image, both in terms of data and pixels?
  15. yeah, but you pay a great big lump of tax on that, too, and all you get in return are roads covered in suspension-wrecking potholes ARGH NONE OF THE TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH DRIVING GO TOWARDS THE UPKEEP OF THE ROADS If you want to pay cheaper VED, buy a different car. It's like people buying a Zed and then moaning it only does 23mpg on average.
  16. The difference in tax is a pint of beer a week. As I said, peanuts. Pre 2006 cars will never go for more than post, assuming like for like.
  17. As Bennet said, it'll look pretty but it'll slow down your shifts. Given that the Zed 'box is notchy enough in the first place, would you really want to do that?

    Bump!

Who drove into who? Your girlfriend drove into the other person? You must inform your insurer and let them handle it. If the policy is in her name then she'll lose any NCB unless protected. You don't need to do anything.
  19. VED doesn't get spend on the roads, you guys know that right? It goes to the central coffers, has done for many many years now. Smudgedon's got it right, it's a relative bargain if you consider the cost of the car. Put it this way: It's £450 to tax a 350Z for a year, a car that costs £30,000 to buy. It costs me £225 a year to tax an MX-5 that cost be £850. One of those deals is good, the other not so much.
  20. I love doing my cars, gives me an enormous amount of satisfaction when they're done. Normally takes an hour for a quick once over, 2-3 if I'm waxing and doing the interior too. To my shame it's been a couple of months since I did the Porker, and longer for the MX-5 and Scooby. If the weather holds, I'm going to do them all this weekend.
