What I meant was, if they can find the fault 50/50 then it's a massive saving to them, as otherwise they have to start juggling figures and be out of pocket. I agree that in theory if both people are with the same insurer then it should be easier, but at the end of the day they are a business and will try to save costs wherever possible.

Hardly. I'm a plumber by trade myself. Not all Worcester boilers are that expensive, and if you think they are then I'd suggest speaking to your merchant. Even a quick google of retail prices reveals that you can get them significantly cheaper, although granted we have no idea exactly what model it is so either one of us could be nearer the mark. Plummerman has it spot-on, some great advice. Yes. Again, you paid for a day's work and the knowledge, not the actual time spent doing the job. I really can't be bothered to go through all this again, though.

Worcester boiler would be my choice. Sounds a little pricey, but if there's a fair amount of pipework involved then that could be right. Personally I'd be looking at more like £1800 for the Worcester one assuming a top job. Ask for a breakdown of the quote, see where the money is going.

Rule out the MX-5, they're not remotely in the same league as the other cars you mentioned. S2K I love, but the interior is somewhat snug and you do have to be prepared to rev it to make the most out of it. Not a chore, but if you're more a fan of short shifting and riding the torque then it probably won't be for you. Z4 is inherently less tail happy than a 350Z, so I suspect the issue above was to do with setup. I would agree that the 350 is a little more raw and perhaps outright fun, but then the Z4 is the more accomplished car. Depends on what you're after really, but neither would be horrible.

Don't underestimate how quick a well-driven 3L Z4 can be. I've seen one on track, and fair enough the guy was pretty handy, but it was still impressive to watch. Great noise too If you're considering one, the only one I would go for really would be the Z4M. Stunning car, both in looks and grunt. Slightly dull inside (even compared with a Zed), but the rest of the car more than makes up for it. Cons would be possibly bigger bills if something goes wrong and image if you care about that (I don't), but your reward is one of the finest driver's cars to date.

You need to check if they're the same engine number. If so, and the turbos are the same size, then I don't see why not.

Lotus Elise/Europa? Out handle anything mentioned above for half the money of something like a Cayman...then again make sure you wear your waterproofs Elise is a great shout, almost identical money now too. I forget about Lotus sometimes

Brakes on the RS4 aren't over a grand. 2 mins googling found replacement rotors for $500. Suspension issues are far more expensive to sort, especially if you want to stay OEM. Which one did you prefer the drive of?

It only self-levels from when you start the car, i.e. to take into account any weight in the boot. Once you've started the engine, the height is then fixed for the remainder of your journey until you turn the engine off. I'd go to a decent local MOT station and just get them to check the heights and adjust as needed, can't be more than £20-£30.

Go and drive it and then decide if it's worth the cash. I like some of it (the seats, the comical size exhaust, the balance of the chassis) and I don't like other bits (the rest of the interior, the gear shift, the fact I had no grip). It's a good package and it's a lot more involving than either modern Zed, but I tend to agree that I wouldn't pay that much for one either. Certainly if you want a car that has truly remarkable handling there's nothing else to touch it until you hit Cayman money.

Should be, yes. However, unless you're going for a long time (months), I'd just use the little stickers. I did with mine when I went to LM24 a few times, much easier.
