  1. I disagree. There's many, many people out there (some on here) who have the ability to buy the supercar, but still chose to but something more normal. Just because you have a ton of money doesn't mean you feel the need to go and spend it on the best thing possible. Sure, I bet the choice is nice to have whether you buy a 458 or a Focus ST, but not every person in that position will choose the Ferrari.
  2. Part of the £100K cost is the suspension, chassis and steering, things you can very much make use of on the roads. Power is nothing without control.
  3. You can't even use a 350Z to the full on the roads, so that makes your point even more pertinant. It's very much a personal view of value. Is a Golf GTi worth £30K? I'd say no. Is a 350Z worth £30K? Yes, I believe so. Is a 458 worth £200K? Eeeek, you're pushing it I think. Zonda for £1M? Yeah, I think so.
  4. ^^^ Absolu-friggin-lutely. Or Kangaroo TV (or whatever they call it these days), not cheap though. The guys who do RLM are superb, and get funnier as the night wears on and the tiredness hits them
  5. Surely we all have? Comparison sites get quotes from 100's of underwriters, surely some say no. That's not being refusd insurance, that's an unwillingness to quote. It says on the sites something along the lines of "XXX company has declined to quote you", not "XXX has refused to insure you". I really don't think it will make any difference, just do as I suggested in my first post and you'll be fine.
  6. Being in Europe or the fact it happened to be Europeans doesn't really have much of a bearing on this. Truth is there's been plenty of Brits stealing to order for years, and the scam that Tophooker has found himself a sad victim to could be perpetrated by anyone, from anywhere. Scum is scum, regardless of nationality.

    Jag F-Type

Not a convertible, not a two-seater sports car, not really comparable I'm afraid. I agree with you, I'd take a GT over an FT any day, but they're not competitors.
  8. Rip off?! It's an absolute bargain mate. 5 days of action including qualy, pit walks on Friday, a whole 24 hours of racing, live music (which isn't great this year, EW&F anyone?), plus the best race atmosphere in the world.
  9. So "good" AIDS differs how exactly...? Y'know, you have good AIDS and bad AIDS. Everyone knows this! Normal Mini is great. Coupe ragtop one doesn't look too bad. All others are an absolute abortion.
  10. It pisses me off when people take 'my' space outside my house, but it's a completely irrational thing as I know full well they can park there happily: It's the same logic I use to park the MX-5 down the road! Tbh I get more irritated at myself for getting irritated about it. I'd never dream I'd leaving a note either, but then I would also never respond as it's just asking for someone to let your tyres down.
  11. There is no perfect car for me, so all I do is buy one that's close then modify until it's as close to perfection as time and budget allows. Then I sell up and start all over again. It's always more sensible to save and buy the ultimate car rather than throw your money up the wall with mods, but that's just not fun
  12. I'd rather be raped by a hippo with bad AIDS than drive one of those.
  13. That's not what they asked, though. They asked "Have you ever been refused insurance?", not "Have you ever been refused motor insurance?".
  14. Probably no need to bother declaring any points or accidents or mods you've got either. I mean, they ask, but they won't check so don't worry about it.

    991 GT3

They've already built a 998 probably, it'll be one of the development cars that we never see.

    Scary thought, isn't it?
  17. Ring them and find out. What I would do is get the quote without ticking that box, then call up your prospective insurer and explain the issue to them and see if they care or not. I suspect they won't.
  18. Everyone is allowed an off day ;)
  19. Sounds about right then, given what I'm paying.
  20. I'm sorry, I dont often do this but I'm shocked by what I have just read... I completely agree with everything Docwra said.
  21. Sky Go does not give you all the channels, so both Sky and Virgin are correct in a way. Price is fine. Don't forget the HD pack which is another tenner a month. I currently pay £80pcm I think for two HD boxes and all channels.

    991 GT3

Good reason to have kids, the waiting time for a GT3 is about 12 months so if I get her up the duff now it'll give me a bit of time to find a buyer...!
