  1. Okay, on a serious note then, is there actually an inherent weakness to many, many 350Z gearboxes that I've completely missed in my time here? I don't just mean a handful breaking, I mean utterly game changing, this will happen to all eventually, something along the lines of the IMS on Porsches, that kind of thing? Because, honestly, this is the first I've heard about it and it looks a bit scaremongery to me. I mean, it's crap if it's happened to you, but is it just one of those things?
  2. Why would her salary need to increase? Why would it not? I wouldn't be signing a new contract that gave me (in my eyes) worse terms without a financial increase to make up for it.
  3. It'll make a huge amount of money for the three of them, and a lot of money for Amazon in the first year with people signing up for Prime to watch it. Come year two no-one will give a toss, and Amazon will end up selling the rights to various terrestrial TV stations to recoup their monies I suspect.
  4. This is true. We had one guy at work who became a complete nightmare, and he was on 3 months notice as it seemed like a good idea at the time. After paying him 3 months gardening leave it suddenly seemed like a really bad idea, so new contracts are now 4 weeks only!
  5. How have we gone from 350Z gearboxes being pretty much very decent apart from the odd bad apple over the last 13 years, to they're all a pile of crap and everyone should source a $1500 brand new 'box immediately? Did I miss something?
  6. If they want to extend the notice period, then I assume her salary has increased to take that into account?
  7. It was a proper harness! And he loves it :p And his walkies :p
  8. How the hell did that journo manage to turn the story into a rant about immigration, and people not caring about people? Imbecile. I care a ton more about animals than I do about people. So what?
  9. If Cecil didn't have a name, no-one would care. I'm not a fan of hunting for sport, end of. My bigger issue is that this would've been fine if he'd shot a lion not from a reserve.
  10. Maybe my TL;DR was too long
  11. Meh, it's only servicing, I wouldn't worry about it.

    E9X M3....

Absolutely. It's basically the most common car on the roads, except it has a dirty great V8. For some that's the appeal, for others it's just too bland. If you like the subtleties of the 350, then you'll adore the M3. If you want something that everyone stares at when you drive past, then I suspect you'll be disappointed. Or you just stick a frickin' great exhaust on it, then everyone will hear you before they see you I think it's definitely a marmite car, but there's no doubt that it's absolutely brilliant and pretty much without flaws or equal.

    E9X M3....

I bought an E92 straight after the Zed. Techinically owned it for about 19 hours before getting my deposit back and buying a 911 instead. They're great cars, they really are, and they're the last of a breed of big NA engines at an affordable price. It's the perfect car, but I didn't get that WOW factor after purchase, so I quit. Ironically I'd love one now, but at the time it just wasn't right for me. As I said earlier today though, it's a RWD V8 coupe with a manual 'box, his bad can it be?
  14. It's a RWD V8 coupe. How bad can it possibly be?!

    My 911

Ouch! I used to get nearer 30mpg on mine, guess you're driving it more betterer than me
  16. Utter, utter, utter b*llocks. The Zed is as quiet as you could reasonably expect: Sure, it's not Audi quiet, but then it's not Audi money. I have no idea where this nonsense about it being too loud or it not being good for long journeys comes from.
  17. On a tangent, have you driven many E46 M3s Doc? I've only ever driven two, and only one in anger, and as much as I thought they'd be a little dull and nowhere near as good as hyped, they were both incredibly good fun and the chassis is out of this world in terms of communication
  18. It's pretty soft in reality, that's partly why they're very easy to drift. Not Bentley-style waftability, but definitely not what you or I would refer to as stiff.
  19. This is true However, it does mean you can drive out of McDonald's car park more quickly that your mate who is slammed to da ground innit.
  20. TL;DR, you're better off buying decent tyres than decent suspension if you want to go faster, assuming you can't afford to do both. 'Tis a good vid, well played Aliveboy for pointing it out to me I'd like to see a tyres vs brakes one as well, that could be very interesting on the right track.
  21. I thought about it Who told them that Avons were popular though??!!
  22. http://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph-buying-guides/nissan-350z-ph-buying-guide/32601 Pretty good, and very positive too after the most boring cars thread

    Coilovers

Only you know how low you can go re speedbumps, but that will also depend on how stiff you want to run the dampers. If the dampers are stiffer then you can run a bit lower, but then the ride on the road will be gash. Start at 20mm and see how you go. And don't feel you have to run the dampers the same stiffness front to rear, whilst I don't know the exact specs of the Torqen dampers usually on a front engined car you'd run the fronts stiffer than the rear, depending on what handling characteristics you're after of course.
  24. Sticky tyres again, even the mighty MPSS weren't out in 2011 Offer me a 2015 CTR or a 2015 MX-5 and I'm still picking the Mazda. Fun > Speed.
