  1. Been there, done that, it was alright but for me it's time to move on. Life is too short to waste on experiencing the same thing again and again That's why you can have a V6, V8, V10, V12, I6, F4, F6, rotary... Plenty of choice before you have to think about giving up on life and buying a sewing machine for transport
  2. I know, all that wonderful noise and glorious feedback, heaven!
  3. Ah, you posted just as I did. 200mi driving at 70mph? Sod that. Few squirts and you know that's the wrong side of 150mi, I could beat that in the 645 pretty much nailing it everywhere!
  4. 300 mile range driving how? Pootling along at 55mph? Long blats at 80mph? What happens when you turn the heater/AC and the stereo on?
  5. It's why I don't have one. I trust my own driving and personally believe I drive within the sprit of the law, but it only takes one incident to be misconstrued.
  6. Give them a call, they used to run a few days a year up north somewhere too, can't remember where now though.
  7. Rally days won't teach you much about circuit driving. I've done one in a Group N Impreza which was masses of fun, especially the handbrake turns, but it's a very different discipline. I'm not saying that none of the skills can be transferred over (certainly balancing the car is a great skill to acquire), but if you want to do track days I'd be looking at something circuit-specific. I can't recommend anything up north for lack of knowledge, but what I can say is that Andy Walsh at www.carlimits.com is the best instructor I've ever had. You'll learn more there in a single day than a week elsewhere, and he's a top guy as well. It's a trek from you, but grab a cheap hotel the night before locally and it'll be worth every penny. Get a few other Zeds on the day too and you've a little mini-meet, with a competition at the end on the course he lays out. Tuition isn't cheap, but this is WELL worth it. Trackday tuition isn't really the way to go here, they'll teach you about the lines on a track and a basic understanding of braking/apex/acceleration points, but that doesn't sound like what you're after initially. A must do as a second step after, though!
  8. I suspect he had a very poor solicitor.
  9. It won't reduce quality. Digital, not analogue, so it either works perfectly or it basically doesn't work at all. Make sure it's a powered unit though, not a passive one. Not because of image quality, but because the passive ones are just a bit rubbish and can cause conflicts between units.
  10. Tbh, anything will do. Cheaper the better really. The Belkin one looks okay to me. But really, one HDMI slot on a TV? That's seriously redundant now. You need to be changing that, surely you can man-math it out to the other half?
  11. It's why I use unraid with a parity drive, benefits of raid1 but at a reduced price. Not quite as good, I know, but it's certainly effective.
  12. They really are very bland to look at. I guess that can also be a good thing too, but I suspect the designer of the Jag XF is feeling a little it smug that his design got totally ripped off.
  13. More than you hope but less than you think. DD for that is a ridiculous charge IMHO, but then I've not seen the area nor the whole video.
  14. I don't think anyone can sensibly argue otherwise, both valid points. That's what makes high speed exhilarating though!
  15. Depends on the car, the driver and the conditions too. I'd trust myself to do 100mph on a quiet motorway in a 350 all day long if it were dry, but put Doris in a Lambo doing that speed in the wet and clearly that's not good. Actually, I've driven at speeds well in excess of 100mph on mountainous roads with no or little barriers plenty of times, on the Isle Of Man. I forgot about that! Sure, there were risks, but I was only ever at 8/10ths max just in case. If I'd had a blow-out then I'd be dead, but that would be the same at 70 on the M25.
  16. Well, I don't want to be that person, but what's the difference between an empty motorway and an empty autobahn? What makes it safe to do 125mph on one but not on the other? I'm pretty well known for sticking strictly to the speed limits these days in places where there exists an obvious danger to others or where it's likely you're going to get caught, so I'm not saying it's fine to go hooning at any old speed. I'll jump quickly on anyone who gets caught speeding because it's pretty easy to avoid ever getting caught, but neither do I for one second believe that anything over X mph is dangerous.
  17. Wow, you can still get an EMB?! You'd need to get it tuned, and that's what costs. Personally for the Zed I'd go Uprev from one of the suppliers on here, if you're going to remap.
  18. Supras are massively overpriced for what they are. People only want them to stick ridiculous bodykits to and strap whopping great turbos to go fast in a straight line. Yeah, I said it.
  19. I never auto sync my data to the cloud. I trust myself to do it properly, rather than some software deciding to go tits-up at the wrong moment. At least I only have myself to blame then!
  20. 125mph may have been perfectly fine in the area they were doing that speed, it was taking a hairpin at 40mph instead of 30mph that got them for example.
