  1. Awful thing to happen though, but it can all happen so quickly and easily. Diesel on the roads etc. Anyone know what car it was?
  2. "Another paper, Salzburger Nachrichten, reported the vehicles had been travelling at speeds of up to 124mph (200kph)." Could've been anywhere, including a nice flat piece of road somewhere. I'm guessing that's just a made-up speed though, as in everyone who overtakes my Dad on the motorway "Must've been doing at least 100mph, the lunatic!". Or so says my Dad.
  3. And yeah, I've done almost that speed on a public road before. Not in the UK mind, but not in Germany either.
  4. Racing, or just pushing on with a fellow petrolhead? We've all been there and done that. Stories like this do no-one any favours.
  5. Oh hell yeah, the 350 comes alive on track
  6. Maybe unfair to categorise it a 'performance car' then What else would you call a 350Z, if not a performance car?
  7. Remove phone from pocket to check time, then replace: 4 secs (I just timed it!). Move wrist to see time: 1 sec How many times a day do I check the time? Let's call it once an hour. Multiply that by 16 and you get 64 secs and 16 secs respectively. Over a week that's 448 and 112, then a year it's 23360 and 5840. In ONE YEAR, you spend nearly 6.5 HOURS just checking the time on a phone, compared to 1.5 hours if you have a watch. That's a spare 5 hours you have to do, well, anything you want really. Okay, so I've just made the case for wearing a watch and not for wearing a smartwatch, but still...
  8. Not to all, it's not. Like I said, it's the most boring performance car I've ever owned.
  9. This is a good wakeup call to everybody reading this to go and back their stuff up now. And then backup the backup.
  10. All smartphones were seen as pointless until the iPhone came out and people realised just how they could enrich their lives. I'm not convinced that smartwatches are even aimed at people that don't wear watches, not really. I wear a watch because it adds a bit of bling to my arm and so I don't have to pull my phone out of my pocket just to check the time when I'm out and about. Give me a bit of tech that can enhance that in a way I find meaningful and I'll buy it: I just don't think the Apple Watch is there for me right now.
  11. Depends where you work: At McLaren, I'd suggest it probably wouldn't be. You're missing the point though, which is that it can be boring depending on what you're comparing it to.
  12. Have you been thinking that reply up for an entire month?! It might have the same function, but watches are more about style than function these days. It's interesting to see what smartwatches can do to try and reverse that trend.
  13. That's what I'm holding out for. I want to see what V2 does that V1 doesn't, and where they think they can go with it. If there's no other killer app for it by then, then I can't see me ever buying one.
  14. Unlikely they'd go after the car anyway, too much hassle. Far more likely that they're after smaller bits like power tools, bikes etc. Anything they can shift quickly and easily.
  15. Interesting question Bockaaarck. I think it's both punching above it's weight in terms of what it can offer vs the premium cars, but I also think that it has some pretty major failings which can be hard to get your head around for a regular car person. No two ways about it, the interior is very poor, and the fuel economy is dreadful. The MPG is a bigger issue as well when you consider the car came out as fuel prices started to rise upwards, which made it a harder sell and that's probably why the 370Z sold in such relatively pitiful numbers. It's also a heavy car, and as stock on OEM geo and on 040 tyres it's a pretty bland drive unless you want to provoke it. The boot is hugely compromised with the strut bar, which hurts the GT side of things too. I suspect it sold mostly on the external looks, certainly that's why most people on here bought one, which I guess leads to why it's not always as revered as it should be. We all know that a few tweaks here and there transforms the car, and we all know just how solid that chassis is in terms both of construction and more importantly allowing the dynamics of it to shine through. The more I think about the Zed, the more I think it's a car you grow to love rather than fall in love with straight away. Something like a TT (let's be honest, that was the big taker of 350 sales I suspect) initially flatters a lot more with better MPG; a much nicer place to be; quattro and either turbo shove or a nicer V6, but ultimately it bores after a while. That's why I'd much rather have the 350 than a TT, but it wouldn't have helped general opinion.
  16. Thinking about it, the Zed is probably the most boring performance car I've ever owned too. Doesn't mean it's boring, it's just the competition it's up against.
  17. Just found the link on IMOC - http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=186472 assuming you can see it. General consensus from those that know (and the IMOC lot aren't daft) is that the car is worth the asking price. Personally I think that's bonkers money for a MR2 mk2, even a mildly modded rev3 tubby. 350Z prices have dropped, but the only thing I could consider that a swap for would be an '02 JDM with 100K on the clock. That said, good luck with the sale, these cars are getting rarer so I hope you find a buyer for it.
  18. ^^^ Well said, and perfectly common sense.
