  1. Given the amount of idiots who show off in their cars around that at that time of year, I'd suggest that was exactly the right place for the police to be.
  2. Probably just about okay then, depending on the exact tyre make and model.
  3. Even if the weight was the same, the rigidity would've been massively improved by the cage. That's a huge performance boost. No chance that was a standard engine, Honda had too much relying on the time to take a chance. Blueprinted at the very least, if not with the wick turned up. Look at the lengths Seat had to go to just to catch the Renault, Honda haven't produced anything decent for years so to expect them to crack it at the first attempt by playing it 100% is a tad naive. Even if they'd come within a couple of seconds that's would've been a great achievement, but too many people buy cars based on Ring times these days sadly, so it was either beat the time at all costs or lose sales. Maybe I'm just a bit cynical, but that's how I see it. Same way I don't think the P1 beat the 918 round there, there's too much face to lose if you don't trump it.
  4. What tyres are they?
  5. Don't be so bloody silly. They obviously start from the dust cap! Honestly, youth these days, they just don't think anything through.
  6. It did have a cage, and the AC and rear seats removed. It was also a prototype too, so likely sticky tyres and a dollop of extra power.
  7. Just so we're clear, there is NOTHING in the MOT manual that specifies how far a wheel or tyre can protrude past the arch. However, it does specify the tyre must be seated on the rim correctly, so tyres outside of manufacturer spec should fail. You can also come a-cropper under the Construction And Use Regs, which is a far more complex piece of legislation to check through. Suffice to say the pics above would probably fail the MOT under the manufacturer rule, and possibly break the C&U regs too. Whether you'd be picked up on it by the MOT guy or a TrafPol is another story. Probably not, in all honesty, and I've seen worse. I'll refrain from my usual rant about just buying stuff that fits properly...
  8. Exactly. Nowhere near the quoted time, I bet. But, oh look! You can't set records any more due to the speed limit. Well, isn't that fortunate.
  9. *awaits people claiming you can't put a CatB car back on the road* (EDIT, SteveM beat me to the post!) I'm not sure it'd bother me in the slightest, although I'd definitely change the plate in case someone came looking!
  10. Can we not move this to one of the other pro-Tesla threads?
  11. You're only jealous 'cos I was surrounded by lesbians
  12. Sacrilege! Burn him at the stake!
  13. surprised you dont crash more often, falling asleep in that silver euro box you drive That's why I've got stickers all over mine still

  15. I nearly fell asleep looking at that.
  16. No, they didn't.
  17. 32/33 would be my preference. Starting with 35/35 and adjusting to suit is also a perfectly acceptable start.
  18. I saw a regular Civic today, and I think I've figured out the main problem with the CTR. It's not the chav tat they've stuck onto it that's made it so damn ugly, it's the fact that the stock car is one hideous, bulbous design in the first place! Seriously, go take a look at one, they're awful. I know Civics have never been lookers, but this really isn't pretty at all. I kinda feel bad for mocking the CTR designers now, having seen what they had to start with they probably couldn't have done any better.
  19. It may be too early in the morning for me, but am I reading that correctly that you've now made the side windows illegal, despite having been pulled for this before? Great thread btw, I like how you've broken down all the steps and given annotated photos to show the engineering difficulties and how you've overcome them
  20. Greys and silvers look fine, but every single car ever made looks better in a different colour The one exception is a 300SL. Well, and a DB5. But that's it. Just those two.
  21. I didn't even know you could still order a new standard 370.
  22. Might want to alter your ad, 2000K miles is a LOT of miles: That's 2,000,000, which I suspect isn't quite right. I assume you mean 2K miles, anyway.
  23. Oh, in that case you should probably know that those pics were posted here a few months ago anyway! Also, remember the golden rule of internet forums: Thread Drift Is Life.
  24. Why would you pay to make your car boring? As nice as a car can look in a good grey in the right light, it's essentially just an incredibly dull and thoroughly uninteresting colour. I mean, each to their own, but thankfully the trend for silver & grey cars is a fad from the early noughties that's dying out.
