Some gen2s use nowt, some use 1L/1K miles. Mine was closer to the latter when I bought it, by the end it was barely using anything. I'm sure that driving them hard now and then is better than pootling along in 7th.

They're the same. What little extra I might've paid by having to use OPC servicing I saved by not needing to mod the car, so it actually worked out cheaper. 15k a year means you'll be servicing once every 18 months, which isn't that bad at all. Gen2 engines can use a bit of oil though (by design), so take that into account. As a guide, mine used about 1L every 2500 miles.

And if you have a passenger, remember it's the biggest bladder that determines toilet breaks, not the smallest.

Nothing good. You could argue that since you're not insured on track anyway it doesn't matter how you drive there, but they'll stitch you regardless and then you'll have that data recorded for posterity.

Also, have you tried A-Plan? They're very helpful, and might be able to find you something.

I consider any kind of box used on a performance car a bad thing. It's a downward spiral, lets not convince them it's a good idea. Ring Ensure (E-sure?) and tell them you've had a quote of £1200, see if they'll beat it.

Great advice Even if you put it on a normal credit card, paying it back over 3-4 months will still be cheaper than paying for it over 12 with the insurer.

That's a lot of money for very little gain. I'm as pro-NA and anti-FI as you are, but even I wouldn't dream of spending £8K on NA on the Zed, it's simply not worth it IMHO. If you're fitting it all yourself and that's half the fun then actually, I'd get that. Doesn't sound like you are though, unless I'm wrong. You could buy a whole other car for that kind of money, and as a second car it wouldn't need to be remotely practical, and it would be a hell of a lot more fun. Or you could spend £4K on driver training and see a much more positive result in terms of pace you can carry, which would then set you up for life. Or that's a lot of tyres and trackdays! I mean, kudos to you and I wish you well in your project, but I thought I'd give you a sanity check from someone who's not going to just batter you with the "Just go FI!" line. If you're going to do it, then at least do something a bit unique, like ITBs which would be amazing.
