  1. True, can't argue with that. I'm wondering if there isn't a long term strategy as we've not really fought anything like this before, as they're a different kettle of fish compared with the Taliban in Afghan. Perhaps it really is just a case of start with the obvious and see where we go from there, maybe we can keep them bottled up for so long that eventually their own people just give up? I don't know.
  2. Stu, did you read the Wiki link I posted? You need to expand the bits about what strikes happened in what years, they're very precision stuff we're doing rather than carpet bombing.
  3. Because he's the only one that has a cat in hells chance of winning this, and stablising the country, backed by Russia. The alternative is we send ground troops to fight an enemy that will immediately melt back into the population, and attack us from the shadows, which will once again mean we will have to pull out, like we did in Iraq, because our ROE are so airy fairy that the military are forced to fight with one hand tied behind the back, and with the Guardian, et all, reporting every misdeed that goes on. No. ISIS need to be tackled old school. And Russia fights old school. And that's why they got results in the first two weeks, while the USA got nowhere in 2 years. Though I also wonder about the links between the USA and ISIS. So what are Russia doing differently? Genuine question, I've no idea. Assad is a mentalist, nearly as bad as Daesh themselves. Neither should be allowed anywhere near running a country, much less get support from the world. That's in a perfect world of course, where democracy reigns and folks in that region can understand that.
  4. Now he thinks you're utterly mental, so will definitely send them out
  5. Hurrah, common sense prevails! Been keeping an eye on this today, some very good speeches by the Labour MPs voting in favour I thought. Corbyn as useless as ever, CMD not much better tbh.
  6. There are a few people in life who you can consider to be a friend despite never having met them. Martin was one of those people. I recall fondly the PMs we shared over the Hairy Biker who called his home a brothel, let's just say that Martin didn't hold back in his words! Thanks for the laughs and the kind words and even the rollickings when I deserved them, and I will miss you my friend.
  7. Right, missed that in the ramble, thanks Colin. So really it's not £3200 paid for a clutch that doesn't work at all, it's actually £761 + whatever labour out of £428 remaining when you take everything else into consideration. Still money not needed, but even so it's not the thousands that people keep referring to. So where are we now? Forget all this nonsense about courtesy cars, they don't have to give you one regardless and even if they did you'd end up paying insurance on it. Really, that should've been asked for at day one before anything else happened if you thought you'd need it. Take the car back, leave it with them, and tell them to fix it: Right now, that's your priority. You're in a mess regardless, but at least concentrate on one thing at a time. If you start badgering them and NMGB, you're just going to get their back up if you haven't already. For the love of god don't EVER agree to having a car dropped off if you're not there to receive it! Totally asking for trouble. Do what normal people do and take it down there, then collect after they say they've fixed it: That way, if it's still borked you simply leave it with them still, or if it's dirty then they can clean it there and then (although why you'd want a dealer to wash your car with a gritty sponge and filthy muddy water is beyond me). I agree their standards have been poor, but at the same time I think you've let yourself be treated like a doormat. You need to make things a bit more simple here to get your result, and concentrate on the important things.
  8. Take the money back, won't hurt you at all. Tbh at this point he has you over a barrel: Even if you get a refund, you're not exactly going to get a video of your wedding any other way, so you have little choice but to stick with him and keep him on side. Start annoying him and he may well refund the lot and stick your video in a bin, and call it quits if he saves him the ballache. What you need to do is be super-nice to the guy, have a laugh and a joke with him saying how you're sorry for being a PITA and your wife is a nightmare and ha ha aren't all women bridezillas etc, all the time calling him a knob jockey behind his back. That way he'll likely get to you sooner. is this via email or phone calls? If phone then fair enough, if not then give him a ring and speak to him man to man. Or tell him not worry about posting, as you can happily pop round next Saturday and collect it in person you're passing by anyway. Might well gee him up into getting it done. Sometimes the best solution to get what YOU want isn't always the one that sits best.
  9. Why the hell would we want to back Assad?
  10. They changed the master cylinder for free, so I wouldn't complain about that. I'm guessing they're pretty sure that you hadn't changed that anyway, since you've not exactly demonstrated a wealth of knowledge to them (not a criticism, we all had to start somewhere!). Can you please explain to me why they changed tie rods, bushes and tyres? Did you mention another issue we're not aware of? Were you aware of these costs before the work started? Did they give you a quote before work began, or a job card at least?
  11. That's the key bit though. You cannot assume that everyone does that. What it looks like is that you said you only need headers and remap for 320rwhp, which is of course wrong. You have in fairness explained it now, however that initial assumption has led to some misleading reading. As you say, you will obviously need more than just headers and a remap for that kind of power, which then brings you closer to the realistic cost that everyone else is talking about.
  12. Have they fixed the stupid oversteer when using a wheel yet?
  13. And is there another UK track with the sea a stone's throw away.......? Dunno, but you can't see the sea in the first pic
  14. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Shader#Airstrikes I'll just leave that there. If you're wondering what airstrikes are actually doing to Daesh, and how bloody good we are at them, have a read.
  15. No need to apologise at all matey, you definitely gave fair enough warning and I knew that it wasn't going to be pleasant. No bad feelings towards you at all fella
  16. You might not want to go that far, agreed, but you could use light foam instead of the heavy gunky stuff to replace the sound deadening as a cheap example. Manifolds and remaps and flywheels aren't cheap either, especially if you're not fitting them yourself, so I still maintain this is a viable option. Certainly no harm in reducing a little bit of weight at least, even 20kg would make a difference.
  17. It is, really. You can lose double figure KG changing the exhaust alone, then there's the ton of sound deadening, the weight in the rear hatch, lighter wheels if you're not on Rays...
  18. I just did. At least the cord guys went quickly. The drowning was awful, but the RPG into the car was horrendous. What is really awful is that none of them were struggling or looking panicked at all as it was being setup, and you know that's because they go through dozens of mock executions beforehand so they just assume this is another one of those. When it sinks in it's real... I can't think of anyone I'd subject that to. If anyone thinks we should leave them alone, go watch the video. It's not hard to find. "isis drowning men in a cage" will get you there as the first link, but please be aware that it's horrible to watch. That doesn't mean it should be avoided though.
  19. Look at it another way: Where can you remove weight to get the extra power from? What I mean is, you want 300bhp to shift 1500kg (for the sake of argument), but if your car only weighed 1450kg then you only need 290bhp to go just as fast. Actually, you'd be quicker because of the reduced mass. Lose 100kg and you only need 280bhp, and so on and so forth. Also, removing stuff is free!
  20. You noticed the difference from the Uprev, but no way in hell you noticed the extra 100rpm. Go sit in your car, and rev the engine to 1000rpm and hold. Now do it at 1100rpm. It's incredibly hard to do, as it's such a minute difference. Another 500revs you'd notice, but another 100? Sorry, but I can't see it.
  21. Just 'cos you have no taste in music
  22. JAE was surprisingly sensible this year, certainly much better self-policed than in previous years. But yes, it does run a risk of attracting the muppets at night, however you would hope that Silverstone security would stop that quickly. And it's always the Honda owners!
  23. It's always been like that. IRA vs entire UK army for an obvious modern context.
  24. Just going back to this, as it's an interesting concept, how would this be possible without ridding the country of IS first? It would quickly be twisted into Western countries trying to build cities in their own image, or building a new school to teach children about false prophets, or hospitals to ensure that only the chosen few get the treatment. I can imagine that Islamic fundamentalists are just as good at spinning rhetoric as someone like Britain First, so until you remove the majority of that enemy force you're still onto a loser. If we sat back and let IS create exactly that, a huge Islamic state in that region, do you honestly think they would stay contained for long? Do you think they'd be happy with their lot, and not want a little bit more?
