There's a little squiggly bit too just after that, again that was put in for a reason I can definitely recommend sticking with the road to Girona once on the N260, it's one of those roads you never really want to end. I know you said that Gib doesn't interest you, but it's a really quaint place to visit if you can find the time. Plus, monkeys! Worth a divert into Portugal if you've never driven it before, I'm gutted I don't have the exact route to hand as there was a stunning dam just near the border that was epic to drive over. As you go past Zamora, go east towards Toro. There you'll find the Hotel Valbusenda, which is simply the most amazing place. It has it's own winery on site, the rooms are amazing, but the food is absolutely out of this world. Unless you have another place to stay that you're sure is better, then you MUST stay there. When you're that far north, the Europas are so close that you probably should take a peek. I didn't get there due to a bout of acrophobia, but I've no doubt they're stunning. The northern coast road isn't as exciting as you'd hope, certainly not after the beauty that is the south. Tbh though I loved it all, it's my favourite driving country and everyone is so friendly. You'll love every second of it, I still need to go back again myself one day.

How many days is the trip for? I can go dig out my old route, I know there's some great roads on there further south if you'd like to try them. Also, on the route north there's an incredible hotel you simply MUST stay in, it's absolutely beautiful and really not that pricey at all.

You get to pick the fitter, that's the beauty of it. I used my local Halfords as it was the easiest place to get to, and a nice big company to complain to if anything does go wrong

Now these cars are getting older, always buy on condition NOT on mileage.

It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than that god-awful monstrosity of a Q60. I just don't like the wide-mouth-frog grill, but from the side profile it's stunning.

That's a completely different branch though. It's like saying don't use Tesco in Glasgow as the one in Dartford had some out of date lettuce on the shelf. To balance it up, I always used GH in Bishop's Stortford for all the work on my old car, and they were flawless. Great customer service too, especially when I was being awkward and asking for things out of the ordinary.

Any main dealer will almost certainly be more than an independent, labour as well as parts. That said, you can haggle their costs too, so I'd give them both a call and see what you can get the service for. I'm lazy as hell, so I'd just take it to GH and be done with it

Some mods are timeless and will always look cool. Some are silly fads that go out of fashion. A gentle lowering of a car is the former. Neons are the latter. Pretty much everything falls into either category exclusively.

If that's the case, then no issue with swapping the cluster for any old one as the mileage will sort itself out once it's plugged in.

Oh absolutely, and Eibach ARBs are excellent quality as well as having a just-so thickness and adjustment to suit all but the most extreme cars.

Eibach. I wouldn't even think twice. Always do front and rear, if you just do the front you'll end up with an understeering mess. Easy as pie to fit, if you can use a spanner you can change ARBs and droplinks.

I'd stick it up for £9.5K and see where you go. Lack of 'real' service history may go against you if you get a really picky person, but anyone from here will know your car is properly looked after and worth every penny.

I think if I was comparing it with something else, I'd choose something else. The styling is a little awkward for me too, although that's just a personal thing. I'd prefer pretty much any of the alternatives that Doc mentions. If you viewed it on its own, then I can't see how you'd be disappointed with it. The engine alone is going to be awesome, and it'll be an experience every time you drive it.

If it's generic servicing and you're happy paying the extra, then I'd just go there. As it's that close, it's almost a no-brainer. If it's replacing parts or something more specific then I'd go elsewhere, just to save the cost.
