  1. Walshy day. /thread
  2. I respectfully disagree with your disagreement The 2.9 hated to rev, never got any more exciting at the top end, no DFI, the only thing it had going for it was the removal of the IMS. I mean, the car as a whole is better with the PCM3 and the vastly-improved PASM (if optioned), but I found the engine to be very weak. Was yours a PDK or manual? The test car I had for a day was a manual, which maybe just didn't suit the lump.
  3. Heh, my reasoning for running expendable cars too!
  4. Seems reasonable enough, thanks
  5. Nope, none at all that I'm aware of.
  6. Graham, what did you do for insurance for the BST? Not trying to be funny or clever here, just wondering if you knew someone who would insure specifically or if you just took a punt that nothing would go wrong? I didn't even think about it when I did a VMAX day, which isn't entirely different in nature. I really dread to think about what would've happened if I'd had a puncture or something mid-run though!
  7. FFS don't try and be a hero by turning up and yelling expletives at people. You just make yourself look a prize tool, which could also lead to the police being called and then any credibility you have if it goes to court to claim a refund is shot. It's literally the most stupid thing you can do. Personally, unless the report says that the noise is something daft like a heatshield then I'd be rejecting regardless, this doesn't sound like either a company I want to deal with nor a car I'd want to suffer with.
  8. Planet 9 or 911UK. PH section is also pretty good. Don't bother with the beards on PCGB though.
  9. Agreed. You really want a second opinion from another mechanic, get him to put it in writing too. You need to put your complaint in a letter, stating the fault and that you reject the vehicle and that you require a refund. Send it via Special Delivery (not recorded) and then wait for them to refuse. If they do refuse, then you go to court. Simple as that.
  10. People still read Banzai?
  11. If Ward's put the DE on their best engine list for this year, that just shows what a crappy and useless list that must actually be
  12. Did you check the sills? Like proper check, better than i did with mine
  13. Thank god it's not a shi**y Peugeot Good choice, congrats mate
  14. Not keen at all. Loved the last one, but new Mercs are just too blobby and rounded for my taste.
  15. What the hell is 46??!! Great pics, cheers for sharing
  16. Are you suggesting you have a temperature-sensitive colour changing interior?? It's definitely closer to white than grey. Works beautifully on a Night Blue car, looks rubbish on anything else.
  17. 2.9 isn't a DFI engine, and tbh isn't very exciting at all. The 2.7 is a better lump.
  18. How can you decide what to offer when you've not seen the car? Might be mint and worth every penny he's asking for, or it might be a shed and worth £2k.
  19. This is why we have the Impreza Just in case, y'know. Not that I get any, but she might get drunk enough one time that she decides to jump my bones. Maybe.
  20. Saw thread title. Didn't check OP. Knew it was Twobears. Checked. Gave knowing nod.
  21. HEIL EKONA Ahem. First off, great choice in spec, that would pretty much be my exact pick too IMS you can't check (realistically) so maybe fit an IMS Guardian if you're particularly paranoid, but honestly I don't think I'd bother. Bore scoring/d-chunk is a bigger issue, in terms of inspection then I'd speak to Mike at Sports & Classic in the first instance as he's the go-to guy for stuff like that. There are others though, depends where you are in the country. 996 will be cheaper to run, although you'll probably need to replace a few more age-related bits. Both cars will cost roughly the same as the Zed over the course of ownership (my 997.2 cost me no more than my 350). www.planet-9.com is the place to go for info on the 987 cars, US-based but the info is staggering. Nice people too. In terms of the drive, they'll wee all over a 350 or 370 from a rather large height. Steering control, chassis feedback, driving position, brake feel... It's all a cut above. Engine doesn't sound like an anaemic hamster either! Wonderful, wonderful cars. If it were me, I'd take a 996 over a 987. Mostly because rear-engined cars are simply hysterical when you get used to the weight transfer, and it takes a bit longer to learn too so you always feel like the car has something to offer you. That said, the 996 styling (inside and out) isn't for everyone, which is putting it nicely Each to their own, both cars immense, just make you you're happy with the inspection before you buy.
  22. So that's what he's up to since being dropped by Cillit Bang! Good post, mostly because it lets people know who to avoid when hunting for quality parts
  23. Let them buy one then If you buy a 206 over an MX5 you're either utterly bonkers, or just like crap cars.
