  1. Instead i'm going to be stuck in my house with negative equity, unable to remortgage. 5 years is nothing in the grand scheme of life. It's called tough love and personally, you were kinda silly not to wait until after the referendum. I was silly for buying a house 12 months ago?? What planet are you on you smug prat?? Negative equity is an issue when you've got a 90% mortgage and you need minimum 10% equity in order to be able to remortgage, otherwise you get stuck paying the ridiculous SVR to the tune of £1500 per month!! I can afford to pay it, but i dont wanna. And if we hadn't have voted to leave I had the financial plans in place to not ever have to pay it, but now it's out of my hands.
  2. ...and as far as facebook feeds go - the 'chavs' on my feed were the ones celebrating. i.e. minimal education and low income, with little to lose. There was a lot of sorrow amongst the 'middle classes' on my feed, i.e. early 30's, young families with good educations and good careers. This might offend some, but this is the 'FACT' according to my FB feed.
  3. But we can surely all agree that things aren't going to be better for any of us for at least the next 5 years are they?! I've spent my 20's not having enough money, and just as i get into my 30's, buy my first house, have got enough money to be happy - the rug gets pulled from under me. Now i've got a decade of financial uncertainty all over again. I wish I didnt buy my house last year now, and that I would have waited until next year when the values would have plummeted and mortgages will be cheaper. Instead i'm going to be stuck in my house with negative equity, unable to remortgage.
  4. Cool car. Not sure on the two-tone paint job, it would look better with the grey all over. Will look great with the candy red wheels.
  5. Thats right - in summer 2010. Darren who i bought the car from was on the Wales run with the forum and his clutch went half way round!
  6. i'm still on the standard clutch and it's fine (85k) and now i've said that, bring on the clutch slip! Some members are over 100,000k and on the standard clutch. maybe the previous owner slipped it like a b*tch in 2nd a lot or perhaps launched it from stand still regularly. It's a shame, but yes the clutch can be adjusted. Previous owner did nothing of the sort. Matt, when you do the pedal dance, film it with your phone so you can refer back to it and figure out the code from the video.
  7. Cheers Andy, i'll keep that in mind. The huge panels on Rangie's seem to be a magnet for scratches! Yep no worries. Ask away.
  8. Hi guys, I recently decided to get another Range Rover Sport having sold my previous one in 2014. It's only a stop gap for the time being... to be honest the RRS interior feels really dated now. In around 18 months i'm hoping to get something much newer (New shape RRS, Macan, FPace, or 718 Cayman are the front runners at the moment, in that order). I've been to see a few old Range's and they have all been lemons so far, but I found a good one today. Its a 56-plate with 100k on the clock in the colour combination i wanted (black/frost leather), and the HSE spec (sat nav, heated seats, fridge etc). Best part is though that it's the TDV8 Diesel, so has buckets of power. It's 268bhp and 640nm of Torque, with an 8.4 second 0-60 time, which feels really quick in a 2.5 tonne car. I had a test drive today and it was lovely. Importantly the service history was impeccable (scary, even). Full Land Rover Service history, with all the receipts. It had £3.2k spent on it in December 2015 on a few bits, as well as a few other £2k+ receipts from a couple of years ago. I've got some mods planned for it... side steps and an autobiography grill will be first, followed by wheels probably, and maybe tinted windows. Hopefully picking it up next Saturday.
  9. This. Everything else is excusable, this is just lazy.
  10. Yeah i think about 500kg's My original plan was to get one of these, and keep it round the back of the house. To do that i would need to tip it on its side and manouver it through my back gate. That was the plan until I found out what they weigh.
  11. Revs probably arent rising. Brakes will be seized on a bit. Standard for any car left for a couple of weeks. If she puts her foot down they will crack off and it'll be fine.
  12. I think modifications plays a big part in it. The only time i've registered on a forum has been when i'm modding a car. If i'm going to leave it bone stock, im not interested in the community.
  13. Wow.... look at it there in the shop! Will the garage be sending progress pics during the 6 weeks?
  14. Thinking of taking it up professionally, can't understand where these wrapping companies get their prices from and I bet they don't do the underside as well! 2 rolls of pallet wrap at £8.00 each and 40 minutes labour, job done. The shell goes for paint next week and given that for the last 3 years I've done everything possible to keep even a hint of moisture away from it I had visions of it lashing down (what here in sunny Blighty???) so decided to wrap it in industrial cling film for its journey from the garage to the covered transporter. Not paranoid at all, haha. ...but what if it gets condensation on the inside and it traps the moisture in? Looks great mate.
  15. Not sure. Looks kind of like a Ginetta G55, but not quite.
  16. You can afford a car like that, yet you use a potato to take pictures?
  17. Agreed. Common sense > Grit Guard
  18. Luke, was there any penalty for the track closure or marshal assistance at the 'ring?
  19. I've never bought a new car before. Looking at a 718 Cayman on PCP. Are there any angles to negotiate at all on a PCP deal? e.g. regarding options, or aiming for a lower monthly payment, or APR at all? I'm still a way off deciding yet, and i've not driven one so a decision is a while away... just getting my ducks in a row.
  20. A few people are missing my point here i think... I understand the 'not bothered how much' approach... I wish I could think like this but I'm too tight with my money. I've probably spent £70k+ on the cars I've owned, but I've always sold them on so probably made £50k of that back so in real terms i've only 'spent' £20k + interest.
  21. So i've been doing some man maths tonight to help me justify a new car purchase. I've been driving for 12 years and in that time i've had 18 cars. My car buying habits have always been to get the best cars i can at the bottom of their depreciation curve (or as close to it). The newest car i've ever owned was my first zed, which was 4 years old... but most of the cars have usually averaged around 8-10 years old. I've had some pretty good cars i reckon... 2x 350z's, 1x 911 (996), 1x Range Rover Sport, and 6x 3-series BMW's! I usually buy my cars with a personal loan and since getting my first proper job i've paid for a loan ever since (currently pay around £400 p/m). I've just worked out how much money i've physically lost in that 12 years, i.e. money that i now have nothing to show for it, which must be made up of interest and depreciation. Over the full 12 years i've been driving, i've 'lost' £26.3k, which is £182 per month average. If I take out the early years when i had cheap cars and just calculate based on the time i've had a personal loan it's actually £23k and £261 per month. So.... £261 per month in the bin over the years. Damn... i wanted that number to be bigger to help with the justification for a brand new car...!! EDIT - none of the above includes maintenance or modifications. Maintenance is essential and mods are a personal choice which shouldnt come into it, as we all know we're not going to make our money back here!

    Cayman 718

99% of Porsche owners then Personally I fancy the standard over the S model at the moment... both cars have more speed than can be legally/safely used on the road, so I don't feel the need to pay the premium for the S model. Am I wrong, or does this make me one of the 99% now?

    Cayman 718

I've been to the Porsche garage today. Same story as you by the sounds of it... went to get a quote for a 14-plate 981 Cayman and came away thinking the 718 was a better deal. I've not heard the engine note yet though...
