  1. Yup sounds very like the ANPR cameras. There are a few on the M27 round Pompy way too
  2. Accelerating Navi GPSs can take 1-2 seconds to get the right reading which is then out of date so its hard to do. If your travelling at a constant speed then GPS speeds can be fairly accurate
  3. Its illegal for a speedo to underread. Thats why speedos often underread because they don't want to risk underreading which can lead to big fines. The 10% thing is often down to reading the speedo. At 30 your only talking 1/2mm and your doing 33mph
  4. ITV4 8pm on Sat is Big Fight Live on my planner
  5. Correct. If you buy something from anywhere in the EU and pay the local taxes you can import it it without being hit. I've found its around 20-25% of original cost INCLUDING shipping as its included in calculations
  6. Might look micky mouse but I know someone has used it and it did exactly what it needed to. Save them around £30 in comparison to getting it done at their local garage.
  7. Mac Mini - Sorry but you are really paying for the size with these things now. OK they look got but compared with the system above it will wipe the floor with it.. £529 gets you in a mac mini in comparison to above... 1.8 Intel C2D vs AMD 64 5600 (not sure probably around the same ish) 512MB vs 2GB RAM 80GB Drive vs 500GB Drive Unkown GFX vs 256MB ATI No Monitor vs 20" LCD Panel Hmm to me looks like you are paying a hell of a lot for a small case which unless your in the living room IMO won't really make a difference
  8. I would say the mpg rate is about right as thats what I get if I purly do the short drives to work in the car. Windy - I find it can be sometimes. Last night for some reason it was really noticeable. Tiring - Hmm I would not agree with that one. The long journeys I have done in it i.e. Southampton -> Leeds were so easy and I did not have any problems. Cruise control also makes its much easier to drive
  9. Are they really dropping that much?
  10. What sort of money does a beast like that go for?
  11. Does anyone know how thick the standard parts are on the front and back. I'm talking about just the pads part which wears down not the whole piece. Cheers Rob
  12. Check the fading. From what I can remember the sub channel is for some reason connected up to the rear outs so if you fade it forward you are fading down the sub as well. Bear in mind this is a stock subwoofer that is just a poor piece of paper and a magnet small than my components. It won't produce the sort of sounds you hear from any aftermarket sub system
  13. No doubt he still only get a silly little charge and probably something like a 12 month ban and £200 fine. The amount of times you see programs where they follow the police and then at the end they say what convictions went ahead. I would say only 1/4 actually get charged when its 99% obviously they are guilty as hell. And even then those that get charged often get silly bans. IMO Fines need to be massivly increased. If you nick a car which then ends up you and 5 police cars you should pay a fine equal closer to the expensive i.e. £1000, £2000 rather than the pitiful £200 £500 fines they get. (Not a go a the police this more the judicial system we have)
  14. I was looking for something like this when I first got my car. My main reason is the Track Day might only cost £100 but if you are out on track a lot you could easily do - a set of tyres, a set of pads and if you are unlucky a set of disks. That turns it into quite an expensive day.
  15. I think the scooby could look really good. Until all the covers come off then you can't really tell what its really going to look like all polished up. The EVO-X looks OK, very mean looking but not convinced by it
  16. Have to agree with H5 - So far P21S is the best wax I have found (without spending silly money) Recently I have been trying a tub of Victoria Concours wax - it probably gives off the same shine but I have found it even less durable than P21S which is not great to start with. A tip if you want to get some P21S lasting is apply a second coat after 24 hours. Use some detailer to clean and dust from the last day and then get a second laer on there.
  17. That is one very very nice looking cars. Wheels suit it down to the ground. This just makes it look awesome
  18. I would expect most pros to be able to do that really with a few goes. Its not all one shot as the camera falls before the ball supposidly hits the lens. I recon that ball was probably a good foot away from the camera when it went past.
  19. most of the time you would fail an MOT yes. Nothing stopping you swapping in the old CATS for MOT time
  20. Today is the day I have had my car for a year so I thought I would write up my thoughts on the car. First off it has been fairly trouble free, When I got the car it was not quite up to service levels so had to get that done. Was fairly priced and did a fair job (Done by Sparshatts, Hampshire). Then I had 11 months of cost free driving and have just had to get the 36K P3 service. This time done by a different dealer. Service was done well - car seemed to be a bit tighter etc. Did take exception to the extra cost over a normal service considering all that is done that is extra is a brake fluid change. Now I have the jobs of a Brake Pad change all round and some new tires soon too. As for the car it self a joy to drive. 1 year on I still get a grin on my face when I hear the nice little burble on startup. I can still be surprised by the power if I have not pushed it for a few days. Country roads are great fun to drive. As my only car I use it for all my driving be it to work, football, the tip (with garden rubbish etc) so get to use it in all conditions. I found the power delivery very nice and the 30-80 speed effortless. The only real running cost of the car (other than purchase) has been the petrol. I have kept a quite close record on how much I have used, normally just filling up the tank (I could maybe save a few mpg by keeping the tank half empty but not worth the hassle IMO). I have done just over 7000 miles giving me an overall rate of 22.0 mpg. The best I have had out of a tank is 31.5mpg and the worse low 15s. I have to say I have been fairly disappointed by the quality of the paint on the car. The front end is littered with marks. The paint IMO does appear to be very weak in comparison to other cars with similar shape front ends. Its a shame Nissan did not tint the base coats to match so that I didn't have glaring white marks on the black paintwork. Interior wise - its OK, IMO nothing special many other cars even much lesser cars have nicer interiors. Not having a front glove box sometimes was inconvenient. The seats are fairly comfortable. On the few long journeys I had to complete I had no problems driving for a long period, cruise control made it even easier when the roads are empty. Its a shame that the car does not include little features like remote folding mirrors, remote boot pop, crap keys the same as Nissan Note! A bluetooth Handsfree that displayed phone numbers etc. would be nice. Would prefer Leather & Alcantara rather than 100% leather seats. Overall I have been really happy with the car. Being someone that has modified my previous cars this car has done exactly what I was looking for. Something fun, good looking out of the box that 'could' be modified but was still great bog standard. How much longer will I keep it. Who knows. I still like the though of a chipped Leon CupraR or really old school MK2 golf etc
  21. Just to clarify - its not illegal to have decats. Its illegal to have a car that does not pass the emissions tests - and even that you are most likely just to get a rectification notice.
  22. Absolute crap this is. I am actually going to write to him. So what if I want to take my car on the track? The solution is to have another car - trailor it all which means you are adding to the total CO2 costs of building a second car etc.
  23. "but not yet ready for its first main service." Wow - its 3 services behind then as it should have had a P1/P2/P1 due to being 1/2/3 years Other than that its a stonking value - makes mine look like its worth pennies
