  1. Exactly, for those that can afford it, they dont even think what it costs to make or run, just that they can have it and Bob next door cant
  2. As a full package I beg to differ. A good driver with RWD will do better at nursing a car home than most of the muppets in Hants/Berks with FWD. If I had my camera on my way home on the 21st Dec, I would have plenty of examples to show you Over 35 miles on the way home, there was a lot of abandoning of FWD cars while the Zed tentitively made it back Obviously, given the same driver, FWD traunces RWD
  3. 2-3 days is their standard turn around time. (Un)forunately, they dont rush anything If you have tighter deadlines then speak to them, sometimes they have loaner wheels or will try to work something out.
  4. Yes they much better Stan, given the driver knows how to drive them. 3 things that make it better than a Zed even with performance tyres - skinnier tyres (std Evo tyres are 235, 4cm each side skinner than my rear tyres) so more pressure per tyre on the contact patch cutting through the snow, 4WD splitting the power 4 ways not 2 ways, so half as much to each wheel as ours. Finally as they are turbo'd they have sod all torque at low revs (no boost), meaning its very easy to apply little power - even at low revs in 2/3rd gear, my Zed was spinning my wheels when stuck. To prove the point, my Zed couldnt get up the drive which has a very slight incline. Ben's Evo pulled my Zed up the incline with his car starting on the incline itself! Way way more grip than the Zed has. Saying that, driven properly, the Zed is no worse than most of the muppets in FWD cars
  5. LMAO what a tool. I will be very weary of going anywere near Astra's from now on
  6. So did you get in then Mark? I assume you did know whats in the email
  7. Wish that was true too, unfortunately anything that breaks the clearcoat cant be healed Will be interesting to see how "glass like" the self healing clearcoat stays over time and how it reacts to polishing etc.
  8. Cleared most of the snow off mine today and started it with the heater on max until the car warmed up then left it for 5mins. Windows all nicely defrosted and most of the snow fell off
  9. Its cos its great fun and social, I think some prefer it to the driving
  10. Yup, TC sounds like its trying to destroy the car when you have no traction
  11. Standard with a hole in it last time I heard it IIRC Sounded a lot like a Nismo to be fair
  12. Looks like you'll just have to wait it out then. Garage cant be arsed and mag cant be arsed to chase them, not likely to happen any time soon really Get the V5 in your name, get down there and drive off as fast as you can
  13. Reckon they could lend me one for the weekend? The dealerships currently arent doing very well at getting me one and MNGB arent much better
  14. Aye I thought you were saying your car with its mods was quicker
  15. Yup, they should come automatically, but always worth checking if you are elligable
  16. I was just saying if I had beaten someone, I would rather put it down to me being a better driver than my car being quicker
  17. Go watch The Fast and the Furios - I'm not going to quote it
  18. Are said braided hoses not covered then? All braided lines I've had for cars/bikes have always had a silicone like cover on them. I assume these lines you are talking about are bare, in which case, as Mark said, any abbrasion will wear through other stuff and also when it wears the braid itself it will fray and be a nightmare
  19. If I were you I would have said you are a better driver, not that your car is quicker
  20. I ask you to name any 1.5t RWD sports car with nearly 300HP that is good in the snow on OEM tyres. Dont think you will find any. R040s are pants in the wet, let alone snow. And no tyre is good in the ice unless it has studds! On the way back before xmas when everyone got stuck in the snow, my Zed was doing no worse than most other cars out there, you have to remember what the car and tyres are designed for, and its really not that bad, sure its not good but it isnt that bad. I can see next year they will mandate that everyone has winter tyres I'm going to get an old Evo and stash it in the garage with winter tyres
  21. That's the idea! a separate area will be set aside for our use and they will be sending a menu out in good time beforehand Ok, that makes sense. I will let someone else have my spot at Mikes then and we can all meet up later for munchies Can keep the car nice and clean at the hotel then without having to drive it back If this all falls through, Colin is washing my car before the Sunday run 1. xstric9x 2. Nixy 3. Martinmac 4. H5 5. Shire 6. Beavis 7. Husky 8. Coops 9. Lincolnbaggie
  22. Just stick some razor wire in your shoe soles They do look a good idea mind, I would order some, but by the time they get here the snow and ice will be gone and we'll be into the longest heat spell ever
  23. No fear, AND NO EXCUSE- alternative washing facilities at Moreton Park Are we going to be eating at Moreton on the Sat night? If so I may relinquish my position at Mikes to do mine at Moreton - sorry Mike
  24. Silica gel packs are the proper way to do it. Just heat them up in the oven now and again to get the moisture out of them. I use them in my camera underwater housing to stop condenstaion building up
