  1. That's what I thought you would say. So it really has to be done with a polisher? I have a cheapo polisher from Halfrauds - when I tried it on a previous car I was not really impressed with the results. I take it nobody would advise trying it for this sort of job.
  2. Private dual carriageway???? Do you own a county??
  3. +1 - Obviously the right decision for you. And glad to see that you will still be posting on here. I am looking forward already to your debates about purchasing the next Z.
  4. I know this has probably been covered before, but what's the best way to remove swirl marks safely?
  5. No - it's on the ground. Sorry - being pedantic about language comes naturally to me. Why? I used to be a teacher.
  6. Just to warn you, I'm pretty sure someone on here had only bad things to say about these guys Can't remember who it was though. Was it Bigphil?? PM him to find out. Just a warning mate........ yep I thought someone on here had had a bad experience ! Emperor Ming ?? I seem to remember it was something to do with A GM zed with white rims. Think it had aftermarket suspensions which indicated that it had probably been used for drifting in Japan Yep - it was Ming, and I was put off by the guy I spoke to there when I was interested in an Azure. Can't say why, he just didn't sound right, so I didn't waste a long journey to go and see it. It was still up for sale for months afterwards too.
  7. This garage deals in a variety of Jap imports, mainly Hondas. I looked at a couple of cars there last year before I bought mine from a different trader. As this is a public forum, all I will say is that I was put off using this garage by a friend. If any one wants details they can PM me.
  8. I use Turtle Wax extreme tyre gel - it leaves the tyres looking like new, not too wet look, which I prefer. It doesn't spray on to the wheels or wings, but does remain a bit sticky, and makes a mess of your sponge if you try to wipe the tyre walls at the next wash.
  9. You have to leave it to glaze over, much easier to remove then. Not sure why a damp cloth but all waxes I have used say to use one, so I do. I've ben using P21S carnauba wax, applying it with a pad applicator. I used the one supplied with it to begin with, but now have the Meguiar's pads. I don't recall seeing any instructions to apply it wet, and it is very easy to buff off after a few minutes.
  10. Depends on where you live. My latitude is 56 degrees, 1 minute North. It's something of a comfort for you and the wife no doubt; here, significantly nearer to the Equator, we'd like to send you our unused logs for use in July/August - if only it wasn't so expensive

  13. Do you mean that a good quality polish will actually take away swirl marks? Or do you need a scratch remover to do that?

    Changing seats

I have noted a lot of threads about getting seats re-upholstered, but I have a slightly different problem. My wife's car is a Honda CRV, and the driver's seat is causing her a lot of discomfort, mainly because it does not adjust for rake and it has no lateral support at all. We would ideally like to replace it with a more comfortable seat offering good lateral support. Alternatively, we would consider the option of getting the existing seat re-upholstered if additional support could be added to it in the process. Does anybody have any thoughts on the better approach, on the possibilities for alternative seats that would fit the car, and on the whereabouts of any companies worth trying for more information on this problem, preferably in central Scotland?
  18. Nothing would surprise me about them! Isolationalism is alive and well in the states. I've emailed them anyway.
  19. all I've ever needed is in there nixy in fact the UK book wont have as much info as the US one will for the JDM spec I can confirm this, nixy - I have found everything I have needed so far in this version for my '03 JDM.
  20. I see what you mean, but I like the look of the first ones. A pity they don't appear to ship to anywhere outside N America.
  21. not bought any myself Jim , but they are quite cheap to buy on the American Ebay site , just postage cost will be expensive Thanks Tim - will have a look.
  22. Try Tyretraders.com or BlackCircles.com
  23. Any advice from anybody else on suitable replacements for non-Brembo JDM disks?
  24. I can't pretend to kow the physics behind this, but I can't for the life of me see what harm it can do to mix brands front and rear. I accept there is a potential problem mixing brands on the same axle.
  25. Chris, do you also supply replacement disks for non-Brembo JDM cars? I don't want to spend a fortune, but I notice that the front disks are getting a bit worn and will need replacing in a few more thousand miles. The rears should keep for a bit longer.
