Just a reminder that it is a little less than 3 weeks to go, so please do put your name down if you are hoping to join us. So, if you want to join us please put your name down on the list: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=25921 for one or both days. Rather than using the same area as in previous Wales drives we have gone for something different that will take place around the Mid Wales area. Not only will there be some great driving roads but the scenery will be fantastic too (Welsh weather allowing ). We need to place a limit of 30 cars taking part and it is for 350/370Z's only. The full itinery, including suggested routes, will be provided in the week before the event. On the Saturday there will be a mini drive out of about 80 miles that will start about 11.00 and include lunch and photo stops. On the Sunday the drive will be around 180 miles, starting at 10.00 with lunch, afternoon tea and photo stops. This link will give you an idea of some of the areas we will be visiting. http://www.touristwales.co.uk/Drives/Drives.html The start/finish venue is Moreton Park Lodge at Chirk, LL14 5DG, which is just north of Oswestry and south of Wrexham. http://www.moretonpark.com/pages/new_site/index.html 20 double rooms (smoking and non-smoking) @ £60 per room and and 10 de-luxe rooms @£65 per room have been reserved for the nights of 10th and 11th October (BOOKING REFERENCE FROM EBIZED) - if you need to stay the Friday night as well mention that when booking. First come first served. These rooms really need to be booked by the end of August as after that Moreton PL are likely to put any left back for general release. You will see there is an attached restaurant and there is also a very good pub/restaurant just a couple of hundred yards down the road. There are BP and Shell garages within half a mile. It has been pointed out the +1's might get restless without some shops to look round and I should have mentioned Moreton Park right next door that is a huge gardening/shopping facility. This link will give you an idea: http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/wrexham/business-guide/feature/moreton-park-garden-centre/26689 Moreton Park Lodge guests have free access to the Lions Quay leisure facilities nearby: http://moretonhotel.moonfruit.co.uk/#/t ... 4535602115 The Saturday and Sunday lunch stops and Sunday afternon tea stop have also been arranged and full details will be provided with the itinery. However for those wanting to know a little more at this stage the Saturday lunch stop will be here: http://oldbarncafe.com/default.aspx The Sunday lunch stop will be here (it has a large car park): http://brynafon.co.uk/ They have agreed to provide a roast or fish or veggie meal with juice. £10 will cover the full cost of each meal/juice. You can separately buy sweets if you want and other drinks can be bought at the bar that is within the restaurant area. and the afternoon tea stop will be here: http://www.llanidloes.com/red_kite_kiosk/index.html PM me for details of the booking reference if you need accommodation and know that you definitely will want to be take part. I think perhaps as technology moves on, cars perhaps more about the visuality and less about the driving experience. For those of you that have been in or driven a 240/260/280z/x will understand what I mean. I think you're bang on with this, Immy. I've driven a few so called Zed rivals over the last month or so and what struck me is that they were very fast, very refined but lacked character. The lack of refinement in a 350Z - the tingle through the gearshift, the noise, the firm ride - meant that even when I wasn't pressing on I felt I was in a sports car and that was a big part of what made every trip, however mundane, an event. The meaty control weights which were lightened up on MY06/07 cars also added to the impression - not so heavy as to be a problem but clearly not designed for town driving. Ultimately sports cars will become faster, grippier, better built and more refined but more characterful? Perhaps not. Although I haven't driven some rivals recently I agree with your underlying sentiments that cars that look as though they should give a rewarding drive, I do get the impression that they are losing that appeal as more gizmos are added in the 'race' to ensure spec sheets match their rivals . Whereas I have found the MY06 (296bhp) scores over earlier ZEDs by the control weights being lightened, in terms of the overall driving experience I have also found it slightly compromised by the torque change with the high rev engine - so overall there is little to choose between the two. But the external and internal upgrades were all moves in the plus direction, so it looks as though UK56ZED will be with me for some while

I wonder which will be the first force to use a GTR - its only a matter of time..........
-
I guess it was Clio to start with, but as these things go I quite like it - I certainly admire the thought and work put into it. The bonnet scoop looks really quite good in that first pic. I'll run for cover now

How could we not say happy birthday to..........

Happy Birthday Chris Having bombaded you with queries today not realising it was your b/d, I'm ever so sorry mate, but enjoy your evening out away from the madhouse -
I wish - having had a partially detached retina repaired that's left me with much reduced vision in the left eye and needing glasses all the time now is not so good, especially for close work. On reading Mikes signature I thought I had double vision but as you have spotted it was not me doing the double thing

Looking good as always Mike - a real credit to you and the pics really set it off - not surprised your sig is updated But, how many endless pads are you using

Thanks for that now its all done The paint had fully dried and was not about to come off on its own - I know what you mean but whatever paint it was, it was well encrusted. Yeah, seen the supermarket washers in action- sponges/leathers dropped on the ground, no attempt to clean them as they go straight back to rubbing god knows what into the paintwork. For people who are either lazy or have absolutely no interest in cars and dare I say probably the car door bangers to boot

We had also planned something similar, but must admit to looking at staying a fair bit further north around Ullapool or even Kylesku, (I have checked out some places to stay there), so that we can then get to the north coast to tour along to J O' Groats and back to the accommodation comfortably the following day. Currently waiting for Stew to let me know what he might be doing as it depends on Jaynes availability

NO & YES: I can definitely confirm ....ing cats do scratch ZED bonnets as they slide down to jump off, or when they jump on they find the shiney surface means the claws come out for grip - seen it several times happen to my car and got the evidence left to prove it, hence I am no fan of them Just recently I witnessed several crows on the bonnet of a car bonnet parked outside Sainsburys at Epsom. They had dropped some food scraps from an overhanging tree that had got caught where the wipers sit - the scratches left on the bonnet of that car as they fought over the scraps were unbeliveable (it was a citreon) Needless to say I make sure we never park under trees there now, as the crows are always around. So Mark-uk, I reckon you are right about the magpies - is a car cover the answer - dislike those things myself, but if you can live with one.......
-
There are passing spaces Nic and the great thing there is that you get good views ahead to see if you need to give way or the oncoming cars are giving way And yes, most move over when faced with the force of a convoy of ZEDS Many are clearly impressed seeing so many awesome cars coming by, so be ready to as they take your pic.

Just spent most the morning cleaning someones cream paint off both sides of the wife's metallic dark grey Jazz Neither of us are owning up to who was driving at the time but I guess it was the usual paint pot off the back of a builders pick-up you often see in the road, but invariably dry. This time is was still wet. Only way I could remove the thousands of tiny paint spots along both sides of the car and the underside of its side skirts was by giving it a good soaking in Meths and then some heavy elbow work with a fairly coarse cloth re-soaked in the Meths. Needless to say I then had to repolish all the areas affected (Poorboys Black Haze) and re-detail the black plasticky bits. The wheel arches will just have to stay spattered and I will repolish the whole car again when I get time and add some wax. So bang went the idea of giving the ZED a clean today as I'm knackered and having spent all of Friday detailing my sons Cupra

Brings back some great memories of the Hoon last year and really looking forward to this year's event - and the Applecross run is one of the highlights with some great roads that really do bring out the 's The hotel looks great - is it near Applecross? Couldn't check out your pics as I don't have your password

That mitt sounds like it would be a good wrist strengthener I have being using the £5.80 version on this link - for nearly a year - its great and survived endless washing machine visits - far better than any Halfrauds products used previously http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalog/s ... mitts.html

More like multiple slaps - mind you the number of us on here are that are getting slapped by Nixy will lessen the pain for each
-
We share some good driving roads too - see pics about 2/3rds the way down on page 3 of this thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=24148&start=30

For me, the fact it is just RWD makes even more appealing Wonder if I can convince the other 'alf that would be good investment
-
At least if you leave it you've got the option to remove it later if so decide
-
+1 - well worth long drives to them too! In my case at least a 1500mile round trip to Scotland in Sept Well over 2000 for me last year and as we are planning to get to John O'Groats this year after the Hoon might well be a similar mileage with roads up there that are just a delight to drive and much of it great company from this forum

June keeps giving me a ticking off as nearly every time she comes into the home office I have the site up on the screen rather than working Which means less money earned for her handbag collection But its a great place to be

As you are a betting man, I say £20 that he does win a race, providing that is he does take part in all the remaining races this season. You up for that
