Steelbeans - You are aware from this thread that replacement locks have been known to fail? Best advice is to not have one (lock will not work) or if you are like some and worried about it missing (insurance issues - but that is really a red herring given later 370s do not have the locks fitted with no other security upgrades as far as I am aware), then use a blown fuse.......

Sorry to hear of your loss and I do remember you and your Dad as good supporters on the Wales drives - you clearly had some good times together on those and I'm sure those memories will live with you and help you carry on without him.

+1 ^^^ The 370 I enjoyed for nearly 5 years was an absolute joy to drive, but made sure it had the best available tyres then available with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on all 4 corners and regular alignment checks. So many times we have heard of issues like you have raised and invariably it comes from mixing tyres and having upped the sizes on the rear that may not have helped matters I fear. But get the alignment done first and see what that does. Good luck.

A45 has gone, after three and half years of great fun, in favour of a 6 month old Cayman - something I have had a hankering for a while now that June & I have found the VW Polo does the 4-seats requirement well enough. A very full spec including pdk; chrono; PASM; sports exhaust; two zone auto climate; seat ventilation (just the job with the current weather!); 14 way electric seats; two tone leather. The 19" wheels appealed rather than the 20' variety most Caymans get specced with, that I felt are better suited to B road driving and do not make such a hole in the pocket when replacement tyres are due. G-tech treatment thrown in by the Porsche dealer that has certainly helped the bring out the sparkle in the metallic finish. On first sight it reminded me of the 350 HR dark blue with grey interior that I always thought was one of the best colour combinations and was determined not to have another another white car. I did bottle out on the racing yellow option, my initial choice, that I heard can be difficult to paint match if necessary (rather like the GT4 ultra yellow 350s) and maybe not the best trade-in/sell-on colour. First impressions after some 500 (dry) miles: Handling is very impressive and the steering feel is the best I have come across in my car ownership. With the sports exhaust and using sport mode the noise under load has eased my one main worries with the 718's. However, not the greatest sound in the cabin when sport mode is not activated, so no guessing the option preferred and it does make a very notable difference with the in-gear response. Dropping a gear and flooring it is real territory. Loads of creature comforts are all there - one of the reasons that we chose this example to enjoy seeing more of the UK. The front boot space is enormous and belies the scale of the car and together with the rear boot there is more that enough space for weeks away from home. The (optional) 64 litre tank will help with those trips. The cabin does get warm and although you cannot see the engine, that together with the exhaust heat felt through the rear boot does make the air-con blast option a a very welcome addition currently. The Navigation/touchscreen works well (far better than the VW and better than in the Merc). Apple car play available too. Would have liked the multi-function steering wheel, but not enough to lay out another 2k as a dealer fit option. Seen 38mpg at normal motorway speeds and low teens after a little spirited drive - don't tell June Still to find out how the Pirelli P-Zeros hold up in the wet - something I need to bare in mind that this car will not have the grip levels the A45 offered - wet or dry. So, back to sports car driving having sold on "GUNS' (see avatar) when the need for a 4-seater arose, and now finding out more about Porsche ownership.

Presume you are talking about the 370 you bought from me and I had the steering lock recall done during my ownership and hearing you had a 'second' failure only serves to verify, as we have heard from others, that the Nissan 'fix' is not a permanent solution whereas the fuse removal is. For any doubters, bear in mind later 370's do NOT have have the steering lock fitted from new (I wonder why!), so as far theft protection is concerned Nissan/Thatcham consider the car is adequately protected without the lock. But if doubts still linger then the fuse removal is the safest answer and do as as Kev ^^^ suggests.

Thing is, I have never driven a TTS so I have no idea how 'exciting' it is. Have you driven either the TTS or A45 Danny boy, or another of your armchair opinions - rather like that you have about the 370 The '45 still puts a grin on my face every time I give it some serious exercise (after 3.5 years of ownership) and the grip level in the dry is just awesome and in the wet (with MPSS) it is simply insane. Yet it will do knocking on 40 mpg at typical motorway speeds when sport/manual serves no useful purpose. When I moved from the 370 to the '45 there was a need for 4 seats and for me no other hatchback offered the fun factor I was looking for, as well as meeting the practical needs. But I seem to have an itch for something different and the need for 4 seats is no longer a box that must be ticked. A 718 Cayman appeals as I suspect from informed reports I have read, from those who have driven them that as driver's car there is little, if anything, in the budget range that betters one of these whether that be the 2.0lt of 2.5lt. But it does bother me that Porsche chose to put the aural experience so low on the list of priorities and sadly for this petrolhead that matters, especially when we are talking 'sports cars'. So, quite what I might change to next is up in the air.....but each time a get in the '45 for a squirt down my favourite twisties I start to wonder if I really do have an 'itch'!

Has anyone checked to see if their PB hosted images on here have reappeared in place of the 'speedo'? It would be good to know that historical images on here, particularly those used in guides, are now viewable again. Personally, I see no point in using PB that I might want to share on here when direct loading from the phone/desktop is free. So any form of charging by PB for hosting is a no-no when I suspect when most are now using the white fluffy stuff in the sky these days for that purpose, that for me works out a whole lot cheaper than the revised prices anyway.

The space saver fitted the boot lining foam in my 2009 370, but I did have to remove some of the foam to fully accommodate the jack, handle and wrench. Also meant relocating the bottle of tyre gel that I chose to keep on board...but that was OTT in the circumstances. Maybe the pump as well - not too sure and as bloody photobucket have removed most of my pics from that era I can't be 100% sure.

Just a word of caution. The 350 spacesaver will not allow the fitment of the 370 front wheels, unlike the 370 spacesaver, without using a spacer due to caliper size. Theoretically, if you had a front tyre blowout you could put a 370 rear wheel on the front and use a 350 spacesaver on the rear, purely as a real emergency, but best option is use a spacer. No issue if you already have spacers on. Edit: see this link to explain a little more:

Had the Stillen cat-back system on my 370 for the near-on 5 years I had the car and quite sure it would suit your requirements. Perfect for long journeys but a big when you opened it up.

Sorry to hear your woes. I'm sure you are not the first to have both fans fail, but iirc they do not always come on together. I'm sure someone will be along to help out and also with the cats issue, although it is always helpful to get them fully up to working temp before an MOT to stand a chance of passing. One thing you should respect is the procedure for refilling the coolant as the ZEDs are notorious for air locks - see here: Edit: see Zmanalex's post No.16 on page 2 here showing fan failure reasons

Having never had the desire to sign up to FB (and I suspect I am not the only one on here), the forum has, and continues, to serve my interest in the 350/370 perfectly well. Yes, the interest in meets has gone down over the years for various reasons and clearly the growth of FB post the formation of the forum back in 2006 has not done anything to prop up meet interest as time has gone by. I do suspect though that Whasapp is more commonly used for friends to meet up for drives/meets (speaking from experience) as that avoids the timewasters. So as for the Regional meets being banded together that seems a way forward and I never shyed away from traveling long distances to enjoy a good drive etc - after all, the 350/370s are great cruisers, so why not?

Could be birds. Living near a coast and supermarket car parks tend to favourite places for scavenging birds like gulls and crows to use cars as lookouts for their next meal.
