DIY Carbon roof wrap a retards guide by RT & BM

yes there is a clear vinyl, but not sure if i can get it with the air release technology. will have to find out. air release what for something? can you not use the standard heatgun technology? yes you can wrap with it like normal vinyl, the air release tech just makes it easier, speeds the job up. -

mine used to do the same, so i mounted 2 foam pads on the bonnet where it rubbed and it fixed the issue.

its the first ever cruise control failure i've ever heard of. sometimes the simplest answer is the best. so if you changed the rears recently and now it doesnt work, that might be your issue. is there someone local who you could swap rear wheels with to see if its the same or not. what size rears did you fit?

see that was his first mistake, was to come out of hiding and go to pakistan. if he'd just stayed undercover as a pizza delivery driver in leicester they'd have never found him. that organisation is bigger than just one person, theres a whole host of people ready to take over. -

1370 x 1100 mm would be £50.00 ex p+p not sure on postage costs yet as i'd need to look into sourcing some poster tubes long enough to post it in. but my guess would be between £5-£10 the other blacks i'll find out about. -

i'm happy to supply the material if people want it. but i don't think i want to get to involved in the wrapping, as i want to focus more on my Hydrographics, and thats seems to have got sidelined at the moment with all the vinyl work its in the pipe line, the hydro graphics has got sidelined for a little bit, but some new things from me are due out soon. i suppose its the problem with having a day job as well as 2nd job. -
some interesting points raised above, maybe a re address on immigration to something like working visa's; if people want to come here they can freely apply for say a 6 or 12 month visa. at the end of that time, review it, if they are working and legally paying into the system, then it can be an easy extension to another 6 months. keep reviewing every 6 months, if after say 5 years they ahve been in constant/steady employment and have paid their way, then offer them a british passport. or an extended 5 year visa. i don't mind who comes from where and who does what in the UK for me, its just a case of making sure everyone contributes. no contribution no taking out of the government honey pot. and this goes for the natives of this country as well.if you've never paid NI or tax then your eligability to the NHS should be removed as should all benefits. therotically everyone should be able to use all we have to offer for free. all it takes is the determination to get a job and keep it. to many of our lazy dole claimers won't bother doing something like working in KFC as its seems like to much hard work. or they could actually get more for being on benefits, so whats the point of working. we make it for to kushy over here. remove the safety net and let people learn the hard way.

happy to sort you out with some material if you want, just need to find yourself a buddy to help BM and i both had quotes of about £150 inc VAT to wrap a roof, so this method saves you about £100 i suppose, even if it took you 2 attempts your still £50 cheaper than a wrapper. -
welcome to the nut house

it doesn't photograph well, there is a very minor distortion to the weave as you go over the curve of the roof. but the camera make sit look worse than it is. in comparison to roofs i;ve seen done by pros with Di-noc this has worked better, as its the right size you don't need to stretch an extra 10 cm out of the material to make it fit. -

pollens not the issue for me, its so dry that all the fields turn to dust and then it blows across the area and settles on the cars because we haven't had rain in ages.

Ok so today was a lazy day and bullet magnet rang me last night to see if he could pop over and look at some new carbon vinyl i had for wrapping so he could compare it to the di-noc he'd used before. well one thing led to another and before we knew it we were in bed togeth....oh no hang on wrong story no basically it worked out that i had enough material that BM wanted some to play with. we went out with a tape measure and it works out that i get my carbon vinyl in rolls wide enough to do the roof of a ZED without having to stretch it out to get ti to fit. my rolls are about 1400 mm wide. and what ever lenght i cut it too. i think the final piece he bought was 1100 mm long and it allowed plenty of over hang. now originally the plan was that he was picking up the vinl and then going on to see a mate. then he gets the bright idea of trying it now, and this is a little photo diary of what we got up to. so the cheeky bastard paid for the vinyl and got my labour chucked in for free . but i mut admit we had a laugh doing it and we both learnt alot. i only remembered to get my camera out after we stuck it down, but the rest of the pictures show what we did from there. to get it stuck down really is a 2 person job, but its not as hard as we thought it was going to be especially as we did it outside in what felt like a force 3 gale we started at the windsreen and peeled the backing paper from underneath as we progressed across the roof. using squeegies we slowly applied it down just lifiting and re sticking as we went to get rid of any air and creases. we even amanged to do it without using a heat gun, but it would have helped more for doing the creases. at the rear we just tucked it under so no edge was visible. because we removed the A and B pillars it made hiding the edge really easy and we didn't have to be to precise on cutting. The windscreen was easier than we thought it was going to be, we'd both worked out that we were going to tuck it under and use the ridge line in the middle to mark it, but it went really well. we removed the waste material first and then carefully lifted the vinyl back and then lifted the weather strip back and ran it down sticking the vinyl underneath and the weather strip on top, so they swapped positions. finished job all in all the job went well, and BM seemed happy with the finish. i think total time taken between the 2 of us was an hour and a half.

i was only pulling your leg, i agree we are in a dire strate, and all politicians keep doing is sticking a plaster on things when really it needs to be ripped out and started a fresh. remove the welfare state completely, and replace it with a sytem where you can only take out if you've put in. the longer you've put in the more your intitled to take out. if people want to do nothing on the wellfare state swap money handouts for coupons. i.e. they are given enough to feed themselves with and thats it. they cant then spend it on fags and booze and be down the pub every day. if your from abroad and your not working then go home, if they are working and paying their taxes, then please stay and enjoy our country. if you commit a crime, and your on a visa, then instant deportation. like you say the discussion and the list of what to do could go on for ever.

mike do you work for the EDL? i here that a certain british party needs a new leader now nick griffiths has been rendered politically impotent? a little extreme the views and some a little miss placed, but they do sound tempting. we need a system that is fair and honest, and at the moment it doesnt exisit, previous parties have built up a country dependent on benefits, and its not something you can just cut off, how ev er tempting that is, also immigration is not an evil thing and can have huge benefits to this country, but it has to be closely monitored and controlled.

if it was a 350z i'd kind of agree, but i think the parts on the 70 are possibly worth more. its all hyperthetical anyway as i don't have the space or the inclination at the moment to do it. if i was i;d be paying less than 12k for it as well.
