Had Continentals fitted on the front of the Zed last month,I like them.However if budget allows Michelin are considered the best.

So we drive from the West Midlands to Butlins Skegness,no Zeds spotted.Then trying to find a parking space I spot a 53plate Gunmetal Grey Zed sitting in the car park.

Hi,wish you would have posted earlier I would have been more than willing to help you fit/fit them for you (at no cost).I wasn't at work today and you only live down the road.I feel your pain last week I fitted on my Zed some unrated brakehoses all bolts seized on the front,then when it came to the rear I managed to break a front to rear brake pipe(again corroded) a frantic trip to CES in Cannock to buy a hand pipe flaring tool,all sorted now thank god.Sadly back to work tomorrow,working the weekend and on holiday next week.Would have been nice to have helped a fellow Zedder.Glen

Hmm sounds to me like either crankshaft sensor or an immobiliser fault however you should see a fault code for crankshaft sensor.Fuel pump?.Can you still hear it prime up?.

Ok it sounds like the door locking module/electronic brain that controls the siren that's faulty.The siren fuse is the 5amp one in the rear row of the under bonnet fuse box.At least by yanking the fuse out it should stop the siren from sounding.Hope this helps.

Ok as soon as you turn the key and the ignition lights come on the sensors are feeding information back to the e.c.u,outside air temp,water/coolant temp etc.The colder it is the longer it will need to be on increased idle(the modern equivalent of a choke)hence more fuel being injected,sometimes if it dumps a little too much fuel in it saturates the end of the spark plugs with fuel.As soon as its flooded every start attempt adds to the problem as more fuel is injected so best to stop.A lot of people think no problem I will just leave it the fuel will evaporate this is not the case I have had people leave them a week (still flooded).Modern engines are also machined well so the fuel won't go past the piston/piston rings. As for rectifying the problem there are various ways: First thing I try is putting the battery on boost so it cranks quick with my foot hard on the throttle pedal,yes it's still injecting fuel but with the throttle pedal down cold air is drawn in and hopefully dries the plugs enough for it to fire. Second option remove the plugs heat the tips(burn the fuel off) Option three:yank out the fuel pump fuse and crank over until it ignites/uses the excess fuel in the cylinders. Option four if it's really really flooded,remove plugs and dry,disable fuel pump,pour a small amount of engine oil into each cylinder,refit plugs and crank,the oil makes a seal around the top of the piston which is good because the excess fuel washes the cylinder bore and reduces compression.You have to be really careful doing this as too much oil poured into the cylinder is bad.Plus using this method causes a lot of smoke from the exhaust when it fires up as it burns off the oil. Every car is different,most fire up by just planting your foot hard on the throttle,by far the worst vehicle to sort is Mazda Rx8 anything from 20mins-90mins fuel pump fuse out crank,fuse in crank,fuse out and so on.

Yep sounds right to me,it's more common than you think.That said i am an AA Patrol. When it's cold/frosty I can get 2/3 fuel flooded vehicles in a day.

Hi Jez,spacer arrived yesterday and have just fitted mine.Great piece of kit and the fitting instuctions are really good.Happy happy happy.Thanks Oh also noticed today the zed has a rev change/limiter light,it's only taken me four months to notice.

I had two front tyres fitted on my zed at the start of the month by the AA I watched him like a hawk.Although the head of the machine was metal they put a piece of plastic on the wheels to protect them.Plus they came and fitted them on the drive so I will definitely use them again.

Snap I have a 2004 GT,my iPhone 5 works great with the module that's installed between the seats.

It sounds to me as if you are getting the ABS to kick in and the ABS pump is the twangy noise you can hear,some pumps are quiet some sound like a guitar striking up.(the noise is normal).

That looks awesome,as for having no spare don't worry about it I reckon about 75% of all cars manufactured these days comes with the foam stuff (WHICH DOES NOT WORK).I work for the AA as a patrol and we all carry universal spares that fit 80% of the vehicles on the road and yes I have already checked the AA Multi fit spare fits on the 350s and 370s not that I expect to ever fit one to a Zed in the last 12yrs I have only been to one Zed and that was for a flat battery(lack of use).

I have spacers on my Zed and yes I do think it handles slightly differently,in my opinion it seems to tram line a little more than it did before but this could also be because my front tyres are low on tread(still legal) but only just.Also again in my opinion the extra stress on suspension components will be very minimal.

All I can say about this post is damn I feel OLD.

I used to have a kit car, it annoyed the hell out of me as I couldn't use it in the winter(no roof or heater).Now I have Zed it's luxury heat and I don't get wet so it gets used as much as possible.

2007 I was driving a 2004 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI. Wouldn't even like to even start to imagine what I will be driving in 2027 I tend to have fads on particular makes my first 20-25yrs of driving have all been Fords no tell a lie there was a Rover 820 in there somewhere,currently in the Nissan phase I've gone from a 1.0 Micra to a Zed so who knows.

Likes: The feel good factor you get from driving one. Looks good. Plenty of low end grunt. Reliability. Plenty of scope for modifications. Dislikes: Visiting the petrol station. Clunky gearbox. Expensive parts. Bose system is junk. Front bumper easily stone chipped.
