  1. Not sure if this is a joke, (tone very hard to gauge in online comments). If true story makes me wonder how many Saxos had a linkage rod go. Also not entirely sure how a linkage rod going would induce a crash as you can just roll until a safe place to stop. Terrible things those Saxos, lift off oversteer was a nightmare, particularly in the wet. I hated mine, still the worst car I have ever driven. When I first met my partners parents I had just bought a Mondeo to replace the Saxo with. I sat there during dinner, after they had made a comment about how well looked after my Mondeo looked, and said something along the lines of "yeah much better than the sh**ty saxo that I had before, that thing was awful". Turned out they had one, and her sister had one too. Ooops Edited since BulletMagnet threatened to call the grammar police. (Nark) I think it's a public service telling people how bad those cars are. Fold like a matchbox in a crash too. NCAP 1 star if I remember right
  2. Twill weave is a what it says, a weave, mohair is a material. It's like asking if a cross-stitch is the same as silk

    Audi R8

I think years of being tailgated by tossers in Audis has made me biased against all Audis. I hate it. For the first time in my 27yr driving history, they now stay back when I'm in the Zed. They're just not quite so confident.
  4. Agreed. We had a C220 in work and I just couldn't figure out the hand brake. Gave up in the end and just left it in gear wherever I parked it. Then I rented an A180 and couldn't figure out how to start it. Took 10 mins before I worked that one out. Not good when your day job is a getaway driver.
  5. Problem with PH is it's a pretty small site, 300th'ish in the country compared to Autotraders 50th. Never had a problem with Autotrader, way less tyre kickers. Just add the fee onto the price.

Hated these cars a year ago. They do grow on you though. Really like yours, damn fine.
  7. Looks too good to be true at that price http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/ford/sierra/ford-sierra-cosworth-rs-saphire-immaculate-fsh-2-keys/5529744?v=b
  8. Why would anyone go after an elected politician who's repeatedly lied about something and then been exposed as a liar. I think you've misunderstood who the dicks are in that scenario. Well that's just it, he didn't lie. He didn't have any trusts or shares or off shore accounts. So the Lefty press kept hounding until they got something. All they got was that he inherited some of his Dads shares and investments. That doesn't make Cameron a hypocrite or a liar as he got rid of the shares (and paid the tax) and does not have any off shore investments. It's just a ridiculous witch hunt by the left wing media, some of whom probably do have off shore investments, or have benefited from off shore investments...or their parents have.
  9. Some people are talented at art, some at woodwork, some at swimmimg, some at business. You want to punish those who are good at business? Sounds like jealousy to me..and communism.
  10. Stunned how this massive revelation (and opportunity for transparency) has been brushed aside in the pursuit of getting one man, by even the flimsiest connection...David Cameron. People truly are absolute dicks. May they all live in interesting times, they deserve it.
  11. Asda Fully synth for a top up. It's just as oily as your designer brands.
  12. We should have a sticky thread with a list of known good mechanics and dealers. That knowledge is worth it's weight in gold
  13. It's rare you'll find a relay made specifically for one car. Looks like the ignition rlay from the diagrams? Either way, the relay is probably used on 50 different cars more widely available to you at the scrap yard.
  14. Nearly all muslim hotspots. Colour me surprised. Not.
  15. Why bother with the hassle. Thousands of garages out there. At least one I know of is a stand up guy
  16. Defender. Or if you like tinkering...a lot, a Series 3. Recommend the soft top military. So much fun to drive.
  17. Many years ago I had a noise from my O/S rear wheel on the way to work. Checked it when I got there and it was a loose nuts on the N/S front wheel. Son had a dodgy wheel bearing on the O/S front. Was actually the N/S Rear. Lesson? Sounds travel in a car, and the affected part may be in a completely different place to where the sound is coming from.
  18. I've always been puzzled how free, liberal minded, progressive people reconcile their ideology with those of an ideology that is ultra conservative and oppressive by comparison. And that's leaving the extremists aside. Seems to me that just because it's classed as a religion, and not politics, it gets a free pass to be an asshole to people.
  19. I've not scuffed my daily. But I didn't put low profile tyres on

    K & N

Same, I don't rate them. No discernable increase in performance in anyway. On one V6 I had it dropped performance noticeably. Pipercross are much better from my experience too.
  21. I think we're desensitised to it. I'm 45 and British, I grew up with terrorist attacks all the time by the IRA, INLA, UVA and UVF. I think it's hard to get to this age and still be shocked by terrorist attacks. That's also why the terrorists are wasting their time.
  22. Most people put a lot of stock in garage servicing. I really don't. I worked in the motor industry, both private and franchised for years and I just don't trust them. But most people do put a lot of stock in "FSH" by a garage.
