As far as I know, the problem has nothing to do with oil overheating, so an oil cooler would be a waste of money, if you're buying it to cure the problem. The oil in my '56 plate never rose above normal. It's something to do with oil going somewhere it shouldn't within the engine and getting all burnt up lol. As for different types of oil - why not try it - the most you can 'lose' is about 50 quid - and you'll have given your car a nice little prezzie. I'd be interested to see if it makes any difference.

If it's any consolation to you (and it probably isn't) Nissan wouldn't have accepted this as an issue when the car was under warranty. They needed a consumption of at least 2 litres per 1,000 miles before they would recognise it as a problem. Having no visible leaks and no smoke is also normal for these 'oil burners'. The oil just disappears. Zmanalex's comments are spot on. In addition to this, and to further what you've already posted, I was told by an 'insider' who knew a great deal about these cars that the problem can become more severe at any point, so bear this in mind when deciding what to do. My personal recommendation, for what it's worth - sell up and get an MY07 or something.

Easy mistake, flashed a couple of Celica's . Yes, now I think about it, the rear light cluster is shite, isn't it? And you've reminded me that 'tacky' was one of my conclusions when I saw one close up.

I think you'll find it's just disarmed, so no need to drive along with your arm over your face. In the past I've resorted to sticking a little bit of black tape over the flashing light (it's sooooooo annoying, isn't it?). My personal recommendation would be to just keep using the reset procedure (sometimes I've had to do it a few times before it works), which gives you an unpredictable amount of time before the bl00dy thing starts to flash again - and fingers crossed it doesn't start to flash when you're giving a test drive to the bloke who wants to buy it.

Turning out of work at 6.15pm tonight (so it was getting a bit dark and I have an excuse) I saw a car coming towards me and thought, "Wooooo". What's your budget? £16k could get you a really nice, beefy 2010 370z - then you wouldn't need to look at those puny (but cute) little S2000's anymore.

No bumper removal needed with my camera - it just replaces one of the rear numberplate lamps and is a simple as winking to install - and it has a housing for the existing numberplate light so you've still got 2 lights and are able to pass the mot.

I've fitted sensors and a camera on my 370z (I only fitted the 2 outside sensors because the camera covers the middle). In fact, I first put sensors on my campervan a couple of years ago too. They are the type where you drill holes into the bumper. They are cheap as chips (currently £14.95) and they work brilliantly. The silver matches my 370z perfectly. The kit comes with a 22mm hole saw which cuts through the bumper brilliantly and ensures a perfect fit. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Why pay £80 (or much more) when you can do it yourself for under 15 quid? I don't get it. Here's the ebay link - CLICK HERE The only thing I'd be careful of is making sure the holes don't go through to somewhere inaccessible. ...and the instructions say that it's possible to respray them ONCE.

My wife doesn't understand me. Maybe, when she takes delivery of her little Smart car shortly - and gets a load of Smart nerds waving at her - she might start to get it. When the 350z first came out it was a genuine thrill to see another one on the road and waving/flashing was done by the vast majority (although, even then there was the odd person who didn't wave). The aura surrounding the car was quite tangible. These days - amazingly - there are still a great deal of people acknowledging each other. Yes, 'community' is not too strong a word for it. Installed a reversing camera on my MY2010 a couple of months ago - cost me £81.45 in total Works beautifully, alongside the reversing sensors (£14.95). My favourite mod so far. I'd recommend it to everyone (pre 2010 is less easy to do).
