Busy day at the Zed Shed - new head unit (with a difference!)
davedutch replied to SteveM's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Having spent a couple of hours fitting a standard double din touch screen head unit I don't envy Bob doing a non standard fit. Well done Bob, you are fast becoming the go to guy for 350Z head units. -
reduced sound out put after replacing o/e bose ?
davedutch replied to buster's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Buster, thanks for starting this thread and Ian, thanks for the idiot guide. Just fitted my head unit using this guide and it sounds great. Just off for a test drive (any excuse) -
Both are good points, safety and insurance must always be top priority. I just liked the idea and it seemed to work so well but as I said my skills are not high enough to undertake such an event and I suppose the risk is others feeling their ability is greater than it actually is. Perhaps this is not such a good idea but all ideas need to be put out there. I have been keen for a while to find something I can do to help a good cause, I like the xmas toy run for instance - just needs to involve more local hospitals

Hi all, Just got back from family trip to France and stopped off at LeMans circuit to see museum etc, whilst there we paid to get into circuit and stumbled upon a charity cancer fundraiser, the French Lotus owners club had organised paid passenger laps round the circuit and the drivers weren't hanging around. Now i don't feel i have skills to actually do this safely or contacts to organise it but thought i would put it out as an idea if someone wants to pursue it, i would be more than happy to assist in any way.

Can we have member locations under our usernames again?
davedutch replied to Neilp's topic in Site Suggestions & Feedback
Surely interest is easier to gather with a location in mind and a location in the header stops the reading of posts that might be too far out of area, just a thought! -

I agree locations would help as would place names/post codes in headers for all meets, drive out in North East means nothing but including town would help decide if this is viable to attend. -
I think insurers are wary of tpft cover as anyone taking this option is possibly cutting corners elsewhere as well. My kids have found the cheapest option is to add me as named driver, and when I bought the zed as an extra car my insurers mirrored my ncb so this made it a no brainer. Finally, you dont accumulate no claims bonus so over time even less worthwhile.

At least some fabric seats came with air bags! Mine had airbags now swopped for leather.

Ian, really good finish, car must look even better now. I wouldn't have patience to try this.

Advice needed - situation with trade in cash back
davedutch replied to Bobbyheinz's topic in 350Z General
I agree with all the other posts, garage has no right to withhold your money, I've bought plenty of cars that only had one key, never got them any cheaper, garage usually say car only came in with one key and you choose if thats a deal breaker. Stick to your guns and demand money in full or you will go to trading standards. I take it you bought on finance, if so speak to finance co because dealer may be in breach of contract, if nothing else threat will shake up dealer. Good luck. -
Fellsteruk, look up kta in members and pm him. He has a few styles to choose from, i'm sure he will help

Zeus, brushed alunimium with 350z and gear change etched into it. Briggsy, thanks for the link, my car is wrapped matt grey but am looking to tidy the interior and blue is a good colour, gaitoe and handbrake could be a good start, new head unit going in soon so that will help the new look.
-
Hi, Kta has just informed me my new gear knob is on it's way, thinking I should change the gaitor at the same time and possibly inject some colour into the interior. Does anyone know where I can get a new gaitor and any thoughts on colour?

Plenty of twats in the world, don't let them egg you into doing something you may regret. We have all been there and probably all wanted to give the idiot a good "talking to" but getting into an arguement can get out of hand very quickly.

Vlad, 350zeee doesn't say how long ago he was 21, might be 20yrs ago

Don't forget to sorn it as there is now a legal requirement for continual insurance unless sorn is in place, good luck with everything.

Is the real problem that you want to take things seriously and the rest of the band see it as a fun get together? That being the case, you need to change their attitudes or get out and find a like minded band. You say you hope to make a living out of this, do the others feel the same? If they don't the wedge is only going to become bigger, a difference of opinion can ultimately destroy friendships if not handled correctly. Be honest with them and make clear your hopes, if this means a parting of the ways as a band this might be the best for any friendship.

Saw a guy yesterday about to do the same, stopped to let his wife out so he could squeeze his 4x4 into a space... whilst she was getting out someone else drove into the spot, made me laugh.

Got mine today, some really good pics (+ the 4 from Ian ) she who must be obayed suggested it would be nice to include location captions, perhaps an idea for next year? p.s. already sent this earlier but it hasn't shown up on here so reposted, hope it doesn't duplicate

For me it's always going to be Meat Loaf I can never get enough of " Bat out of Hell" "Objects in the rearview mirror"or "I'd do anything for Love" the list goes on....I know this shows my age!

Had mine done after CS fitted coilovers, a place Mitz recommended just round the corner from him, £60 all in although I did have to go back to Mitz as the tyre centre were afraid of breaking one of the bolts. Andy spent five minutes with penetrating oil and some elbow grease to free it off. £150 seems a tad high but i guess you have to factor in London premium, also price isn't everything, you have to trust those working on your car.

Dean, I love these cheap mods you are coming up with but I think I agree with vlad, conduit looks fine. P.S. are you on extended leave or are you trying to get your headlights onto every topic simultaneously? keep the cheap mods coming!

If your looking for a good wrapping firm further North try "pwpro" they are based in Mansfield, did my zed matt grey with gloss black roof. Go on their website and you can see time lapse video and photos of their work. Mine was £1250 +vat I agree with others, vinyl gloss is not as shiny and respraying to another oem colour doesn't seem to make sense to me. Whatever you decide make your car your own and enjoy it.

R.i.p. and I'm sure all of our thoughts are with the Button family, lets hope this spurs Jenson on.

Surely if not financing this is as easy as how much cash have I saved up to purchase, insure, tax and mot at start of ownership followed by can I afford mpg and repairs etc ongoing. If financing can I afford the repayments and ongoing. Any formula will be personal according to other spend and priorities I.e. mortgage, family, holidays, bills. There is no sensible way you could simply pick a % of income.
