  1. Very very recent post on this somewhere.
  2. I'm heading out there later this year, first time in the Z - so I'll take it very easy but nevertheless... (actually after looking into insurance - I'm not going to risk it, I'll stick to track days instead) New discs/pads (I like EBC yellow stuff, so will try on the Z), Motul RBF 600 (will do clutch fluid as well) & braided lines will go on (this is just because I want to change some bits so it's an excuse to do it beforehand). I'm on Mich supersports, standard suspension (with a few superpro bushes) but probably on eibach sway bars when I go. As you know it's about enjoying yourself at the end of the day, and being comfortable with the car
  3. I think if you manage to do that you should own any power tools
  4. I have both a DA and rotary (spin doctor), and out of the 2 I'd go for the rotary every time. (DA takes ages imho - although haven't tried with my new pads/polish combo) I'm using Megs #105 & #205 with their burgundy and yellow 7" pads on a black car.
  5. As the others have said, get a FULL alignment done anyway, and it's probably worth checking the depth of the tread on all tyres - then ditching them if they aren't Michelin Supersports
  6. Hey - just a mini update: I bought these last week: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/meguiars-bodyshop/mirror-glaze-ultra-cut-compound-236ml.aspx http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/meguiars-bodyshop/ultra-finishing-polish-236ml.aspx http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/meguiars/new-washable-soft-buff-2-0-polishing-pad.aspx http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/meguiars-bodyshop/mirror-glaze-soft-buff-2-0-foam-cutting-pad.aspx Which I used today with my 'Dodo Juice Spin Doctor' rotary polisher - I'm very pleased with the results now, so this is the combination I'll do the whole car with (just had a go with the bonet today). I'll try taking photo's with the cameras I have but it's bloody difficult without manual control of the focus ! (until I get a DSLR)
  7. Totally missed this thread, very good indeedy ! I've got a couple of the bushes done, and a few more I want to fit to sharpen the steering up.
  8. Nice one for doing a write up, good to read ! We should have a catch up half way between us at some point, you can check to see if I've ruined your old car They are fast feckers when on the move as well. I remember being in the back of a mates one going through Germany, holding onto a GT3 RS wing (another friend had an incident on track ), thinking to myself...hey we're going pretty fast aren't we... yes, about 170ish or so
  9. StevoD - I bought the Stillen one from Tarmac a few weeks ago, zero fitting issues - very pleased
  10. I would like the extra responsiveness, which is what I'd expect from something like this. That coupled with a SM fly wheel, and it should be lovely.
  11. Not a solution here just saying from experience... I use the vodafone thing, you pay for the hardware (about £50 iirc) and that's all you have to pay. Obviously it piggy backs onto the broadband, so if you're downloading tons of stuff using up all of it's speed - your signal will suffer. It works fine, just ensure it's centrally located in the house or you'll have to wander near it if you need to talk.
  12. Search search search is your friend.... (similar threads very recently) 3 pre outs though.
  13. octet has some for sale but I've had to hold off buying any toys for the moment, as I wanted them as well I think maybe in July I can sort something out (need cash for a few other bits for now) but if Tarmac cannot supply AMS any longer, is there an alternative ? (the Stillen ones seem prevalent on ebay). But no idea about those or others on ebay/resellers having the steel collars like the AMS ones Out of curiosity, what do these terms mean ? Underdrive or Standard driven
  14. Just thought I'd mention that I bought the h-dev one http://www.h-dev.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=78_169_293_472_477&products_id=25417
  15. If you did it by hand, you'd be fine surely ?
  16. I was just gonna say, sand it down, should be very easy afterwards rtbiscuit: Have you got a shot of those parts in the car ? Looks like you did a great job, I'm keen to do 'dry' CF look in my one.
  17. That would great thanks. Send a message if you would rather not go public. I'll PM if any luck !
  18. I might be able to get you in contact with someone high up the food chain in Nissan UK if you'd like me to try ?
  19. Just to recap Idiot lesson 1 - Make sure you have the correct tools for the job before you start Idiot lesson 2 - Don't park too close to your garage Idiot lesson 3 - Don't loose your screws Idiot lesson 4 - If removing the engine tray do not re-attach until you are sure there is zero possibility of having to remove it again. Idiot lesson 5 - Multipoint sockets can round off nuts. 6 points are preferable, especially with stiff nuts Idiot lesson 6 - Don't use bus lanes Idiot lesson 7 - Halfords is not the answer, Halfords is not the answer Idiot lesson 8 - Make the hole in the internal rubber of the spark plug socket a little bigger with a screwdrive to ensure the plug comes away ok from the socket when you want. Idiot lesson 9 - Put a bit of tape on the joins of the socket and ratchet/extension so they are a tighter fit. Idiot lesson 10 - Don't panic Idiot lesson 11 - when replacing anything check it fits 1st Idiot lesson 12 - When fitting spacers to the fronts DO get somebody to hold the brake pedal when you are tightening the nuts. Idiot lesson 13 - Check all spacers after your 1st drive Idiot lesson 14 - Instinct is your friend, if your instinct says you should check something then do + see my thread here for some other bits n pieces: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/69313-handy-tools/
