  1. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of your Zed. Your man has done a fantastic job with the paint correction and your planned mods sound really well thought out. Looking forward to seeing your rebuild thread.
  2. Paul why don't you save a small fortune on labour charges and fit the brushes yourself, they'll cost you a fiver at the most and its not difficult, just take photos at every stage of the strip down so you won't make a mistake when rebuilding it. The sense of satisfaction and confidence you'll get when you complete this will spur you on to try other jobs.
  3. Welcome to the forum. You wouldn't happen to know if its been remapped by someone who's not qualified to do such work. My mate had a Seat Leon and had a cheap remap done and his car had exactly the same Kangaroo juice problem you describe on your Zed
  4. The size of some of these things are like grenade launchers, i'd be thinking someone had hurled a rock at my Zed.
  5. Have you emptied the system recently in order to replace the antifreeze for the coming winter? Have you bled the system thoroughly? If not you could have small pockets of air that at idle prevents the water flowing through the radiator core. Have you checked the bottom of the radiator for leaks. Your hoses are in good condition i take it? I hope one of the above solves your problem. Good Luck.
  6. I used Marine (not the uniformed painted faced guys who kill people for a living) Yacht varnish from my local chandlers, the idea being that boats take a hell of a battering from the sun etc. I used wet and dry 2000 and 2500grit to clear the fogginess and to even out the finish and then applied the marine UV protectant varnish, waited for it to dry and gave it another coat. This was 2 years ago and they're still looking as good as the day i did them. I used Rustins Yacht Varnish which has a UV protectant and for a 2.5 litre tin i paid £24.95.
  7. Hey Chris, thank God Autumn is here and the leaves have pretty much fallen and the tree sap with it. My other half moved just before summer and here was me thinking "what a picturesque looking street with all of these mature overhanging trees creating a tunnel like effect". My thoughts had changed totally come morning when i found my Zed absolutely covered in sap so i had her running in and out of the house filling buckets of warm soapy water to wash it off. Luckily it didn't do any damage but in the next two weeks i had prepared some hard standing in the back garden in preparation for protection against the sun and that bloody tree sap. I feel for you Chris, i really do.
  8. I'd consider going for a Varta as they give a four year guarantee, i only paid £70 for peace of mind.
  9. Yes, just follow the lead from the rear quarter panel (you may have to remove some interior trim to get to it)
  10. Hey John, welcome back to the forum and happy hunting.
  11. Welcome to the forum MrJunkie, you should find more than enough information on what to look for when looking and purchasing a Zed. You should find info on the earlier DE's and the later HR's. I hope you find something that suits your needs, happy hunting.
  12. Hey Andy welcome to the forum. When are you opening your forecourt as it seems you have enough Zeds to start a specialist showroom. There are instructions somewhere on how to download photo's so you can give us a pictorial of your Zeds. As you've already mentioned, this forum is a hive of information and if there's something that hasn't been written then its not worth writing. I hope you enjoy your ownership and a build thread would be great to see on your '07HR.
  13. Thanks Stanski for a concise write up and i agree with Illogical1, I bought a container of their wipes last year and have been mightily impressed with them.
  14. I'm not keen on the Zunsport grills but i agree with Fluke, that is a beautiful colour on Busters Zed.
  15. The the front wheels are 8 inches wide and the hub has a bolt/lug screwed into it (which can be removed) and prevents some of the rear wheels which are 8 and a half inches wide and won't fit on the front hub due to the bolt fitted as previously mentioned. The GT touring wheels (not the Rays)are; front 8 inches wide with 30mm offset and the rears are 8 and a half inches wide with 33mm offset. As Alex has previously mentioned they are marked to prevent incorrect fitment but if a previous owner has removed the bolt/lug from the front hub then both front and rear wheels will fit either hub. I hope this makes things a little clearer.
  16. Turning your traction control off is going to make your wheels spin far more than leaving it switched on.
  17. Have you tried the window reset (can be found by searching) as this may fix your problem and save you £45
  18. Its not difficult at all, the links should make it really straightforward for you as it doesn't really matter what HU you have fitted, they all go in in pretty much the same way.
  19. As ZeeZeebaba says, Uprev remap can turn off the CEL permanently, usually the CEL comes on when fitting Decats without spacers as the higher flow of exhaust gas tricks the O2 sensors into thinking that its failed thus causing the CEL to light up. The pedal dance may get rid of this, as it resets the ECU, some owners are lucky and it never returns, other owners suffer the CEL coming on regularly.
  20. My mate managed to get a low mileage CA18T for his S13 and was really impressed with both the cost and the condition of the engine. the compression was good on all cylinders and using a camera to check the bores he found that they too were in really good shape. He purchased and fitted it last year and it ran smooth and strong from day one. He's got a bit of a lead right right foot but its still running as well as the day he fitted it and he'd buy from them again. I hope this helps Fen. I have no affiliation or connection to this company at all. Just conveying a purchase a mate of mine made who was happy with his purchase.
  21. He used to work for Dave Weston in Solihull before he, Dave went under. This is perhaps old news but the mobile i have for Greg is 07973 359880 and he works or used to work out of Weights farm in Redditch B97 6RG. My info is over a year old though so Brandon could be feasable. I did ring the above mobile number in the early hours and he did admit to being Greg. Don't know if this helps you any further. Good Luck.
  22. Graham, what a fantastic car with an absolutely fantastic spec. My partner has just removed my bib and she's about to put a clean one on and put the dribbly one in the washing machine. She just can't understand why I've been scrolling from the spec sheet to the photo's and back again for the last half hour. No matter how much i try to explain it goes straight over her head, GLWS. If i can sell the house I'd be happy living in a shed over the winter.
