  1. Hmm, geckos are upper class. There that is my arbitrary ruling on the subject. I don't actually know what a gecko is Im off for a pizza now, question is do I go to the middle class Pizza Express or slum it at Pizza Hut? Depends if I fancy a glass of wine or Fanta with it I guess!
  2. No Keyser, I prefer your idea Now please can all you glasses wearers go and get yourselves a dog!!
  3. Aha, you must be a member of the so-called classless society Just follow my tips on dog buying and you can be an instant member of any class you like the sound of. Unless that is you decide to buy a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Golden Retriever and um, a Corgi (are there any other dogs that definitely confer upper crustness on their owners?)
  4. Chill Phil and S1 HNK, it's a light-hearted post Although actually I do think that the majority of people are happy to pigeonhole both themselves and others according to perceived class distinctions. Whether that is right or wrong I'm not sure. I believe that other countries don't have this obsession with class but the British certainly do. Downton anyone?
  5. I've been reading a post about class on another forum and it is interesting (well, to me anyway) how people like to define themselves as a member of a particular class. Some of their definitions don't accord with mine but I think that everyone has their own ideas on the subject. Personally, I think I must be working class because I own two whippets. If I were to buy a pair of labradors I would move into the ranks of the middle classes and thence into the aristocracy if I were to purchase a brace of corgis. Have I got the right idea about class or am I barking up the wrong tree - whoops, I do love a rubbish joke. My bad?
  6. Hello and welcome I drive an azure blue roadster and I love it
  7. "I did my design dissertation on Pareidolia" Thank you for teaching me a new word!!! I'm going to use that later this evening
  8. Do all these faces crop up in your life or do you Google them? I keep seeing cars with faces ever since my husband pointed one out to me. Tonight I saw a lorry coming towards me and it was sort of gurning
  9. LRF4N it was a 320ED I think - if there is such a thing, I don't have much knowledge about cars , so only a basic model and I suppose I am being harsh when I said it wasn't nice to drive because it was very good on the motorway (uncomfortable seats notwithstanding) but I only tended to drive it along the potholed, single track lanes that make up the bulk of my daily trips, and it never seemed very happy doing that. I don't really like driving my Zed along the same lanes either although he seems happy enough at slower speeds than the BMW ever did. Regarding hogging the right hand lane, I spend quite a lot of time in it myself but only if I'm overtaking. I don't think it's my right to occupy it at all times and, truly, it is only BMW and Audi drivers whom I've ever seen racing up behind people (not me ) in the right hand lane and flashing their lights at them until they moved and then going on and doing the same thing to the next driver that they came up behind. I'll report back if I ever see a little old lady in a Citroen C1 doing the same thing
  10. Er, not sure. My husband's didn't shrink when he had a BMW
  11. "People are drawn to german cars cos of the quality and drive" I found the quality to be pretty poor. The cockpit was cramped, the seats uncomfortable and, yes, the indicators were pigs to use (which doesn't excuse BMW drivers for not even trying ). If the car that we had was typical of BMW's build quality then I think that your logic is also faulty. Sorry The car wasn't even nice to drive now I come to think of it. When my husband managed to get rid of it onto another unsuspecting company employee he also got shot of it as soon as he could because he hated it too. Maybe it was atypical? Who knows, I hope never to have to find out!
  12. Obviously not every Audi or BMW driver is an idiot but, sadly, from personal observation a lot of them appear be, judging by their way of driving. I drove my husband's BMW safely as did he and, strangely, we both got a lot less BMW drivers travelling half an inch off our back bumpers when we appeared to be 'one of them' than we did in any of our other cars (Fiat Panda, Zed, Evoque). I don't think that the cars themselves make people into unsafe idiots but I do think that a lot of bad drivers are drawn to both BMWs and, latterly, Audis, for some reason - presumably the image that the manufacturers try to cultivate?
  13. I thought it was common knowledge that Audi drivers were the new BMW drivers and had been for a few years? I had the misfortune to have to drive a BMW (company car, not my choice) and I hated every second because other drivers expected me to drive like an ar$e. I am sure that I astonished some people when I pulled over for them on our single track lanes instead of speeding past and splattering them with mud I had an Audi revving up behind me at lights yesterday. I ignored him. I recommend you do the same.
  14. Mm, me too. I have bought a few other things from them besides Moorcroft. It is a very tempting place
  15. It was a sweet little collector's club vase with a snowdrop on it I got it from the James McIntyre in the Victoria Quarter in Leeds. I usually buy from them or the William Sissons gallery in Helmsley.
  16. Really? I just bought myself another piece last weekend. Your Mrs sounds like an interesting person to know
  17. Ooh, is she on a stand? I normally go (as a visitor) every year but I have too much going on this Feb. I'll miss it because I love Spring Fair.
  18. Hey Sarah! Yes, I'm planning on going to P&P this year. Was going to go to Spring Fair as well but have decided to go to Harrogate in the summer as February is ridiculously busy. We must meet up! Annie
  19. Knife and fork? That could be the end of the handles?
  20. Beautiful photos We had nowhere near that amount, thank goodness!
  21. Thanks Vik and Bronzee I've got the heels sorted. Had to order four pairs just in case anything goes wrong with three sets of them Just ordered my cocktail dresses too (strangely have also had to order four of those just in case ...) because we've been invited to a cocktail reception at an art gallery on the second night. Slightly worried about that one because I've no idea what the dress code will be as there are no clues on the invitation
