  1. There are a large number of factors to consider. Winter tyres are not just for use in snow, but also provide better grip in conditions under 7C, which happens a lot in this country. I've personally never really had an issue and if it get's so bad that I can't drive the car, I'll leave it at home, but not everyone has that option. There is also the factor of increased tyre wear in the winter as summer tyres are designed to operate at higher temps. I guess you'd be looking at around £800 for a set of new winter tyres as well which is quite an investment. How many miles do you do during the winter, if it is a lot and you absolutely cannot be without your car, then the switch may be worth it. I've not heard anyone who has switched complain or say it was a bad idea, but I don't think it's an absolute necessity... now a BMW on the other hand, absolutely needs winter tyres as they are shocking in the snow / ice!
  2. Sounds like they may have let the master cylinder dry out which can cause an air lock I believe?. They probably just need bleeding again by somewhere that know what they're doing...
  3. My Grandma drove until she was 97 and never had an accident in over 70 years of driving. I personally don't see the issue. I'd rather have a 92 year old driving at the speed limit and taking her time, than c**ts texting or on Facebook, which I see every day on the way to work. The police do virtually nothing to stop bad drivers, so one 92 year old is completely inconsequential.
  4. As others have said, it's probably fixable to pass an MOT, rather than spending 100's on a new exhaust. Your garage sound like d!cks as well as anywhere decent should have recommended this as a first option. I'd never take a car to them again if they did that to me and I'd tell them that after you've got everything sorted.
  5. Yeah, pretty much all there is on the 350z Facebook page... oh and the occasional how many guns do you have in your car thread. I get the feeling the average owner of 350's in the US is much lower than in the UK. Not that advancement in age is necessarily proportional to intelligence / common sense, but generally the older you get the less likely you are to use "gay" as an adjective.
  6. Video or it didn't happen! Had this with a few sheep before in Ilkley who decided they wanted to be a bonnet ornament, but luckily managed to stop. Apart from the fact that I don't want to hurt animals, the damage a large beast will do to the front of a car is pretty serious!
  7. FFS, just paid £600 for new discs and pads! What a bargain as ratty old Brembos usually go for £200 more.
  8. Too many variables for anyone to give a proper answer. This isn't something you do lightly and I bet 99% of people who have posted about going FI, eventually didn't. You can't do enough reading yourself on the subject. It's not just about what parts you need either, there are lots of other foibles you need to think about which can only be identified with substantial reading. For starters: What power do you want to make? How much do you want to spend? Realistically, you're looking at £7-10k to go turbo up to about 400bhp. Anything above this and you really need to look at an engine rebuild which will easily double your budget. With all due respect and not trying to cause offence, but if you don't know what parts you need to go turbo, you probably shouldn't be thinking about it. Any FI build on a NA car is just a huge and constant hassle and for some people has ruined their enjoyment of the Zed. For the cash, I would be looking at something which is already turbo'd or spending the money on handling / grip (Unless you car already has all of this done) as making the car much quicker doesn't necessarily make it more fun to drive.
  9. Yes, Yes - world's biggest bell end, Yes - way too old, No - although we're both too old to know what "cool" is, Yes - love Coogan, Yes and Yes - I've definately warmed to him over the years, Yes - she is very attractive, Yes - it is a shame but hopefully a new format Top Gear will ease the pain.

    2006 DE W Brace

Unsightly or totally unusable? If unsightly, then wire brush and then spray it. If ruined, then used from or after market from the bay of e.
  11. Granny shifting and not double clutching like you're supposed to? Where and how do you drive to get 32 mpg? Mine is just about 20, but then I commute every day and like the sound of my exhaust!
  12. Running costs will be less than an R34 and considerably less than an R35. MPG - Assume low 20's unless you're crawling on the motorway all day Service - £100-300 depending on what you're having done Decent Tyres - £600-700 Decent Discs and Pads - £600-700 Just make sure you check the oil regularly and only use Super Unleaded - Or they become considerably more expensive when you need a new engine!
  13. There are already millions of people armed to the teeth who think that the world is only 6000 years old, who don't much like other humans who happen to have different colour skin... Can you imagine how these people would react to an Alien race. 90% of the planet are simply not open minded enough to deal with something like this, hence why it would never be announced, unless you got Independence Day style ships hovering overhead!
  14. I'd be very surprised if a thin rusty piece of metal was in some way integral to the fuel tank... Still, probably not the stupidest thing a car manufacturer has done!
  15. There are some on ebay for about that much or as he may have a refurbished / good condition OEM one?
  16. Got to be honest, I think it was more the not having any driving experience and doing 90mph through a town but I guess that doesnt make such a good headline. RIP. Have to agree. The drugs didn't force them to do it, nor were they forced to take them. Not everyone who takes drugs gets im their car and drives like a bell end. Like trying to blame alcohol for drink driving and almost as bad as blaming a computer game like GTA... Just a pair of morons who were lucky they didn't hurt anyone else. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but the message here should be about not being a total dick, rather than pushing the agenda onto something else.
  17. Looks like muck, unless the sun's shining!
  18. Nice Sunday morning read this thread and your car looks fantastic!
  19. Hmm, a few hours labour and some cheap(ish) parts or slightly less labour and £600-700 for some new calipers... Sorry, but that just seems ridiculous... your money though...

    Oh Dear....

Didn't rich people used to have taste... even Americans?
  21. 25mm for reference. Edit: and 22mm for the washer jet hole.
  22. Like finding a specific needle in a haystack size pile of needles! About 1 a year for sale on here I reckon.
  23. I was sceptical about this fix, firstly that it'd work and secondly that I would actually be able to complete the task myself. Turned out, after many hours of labour, that I could do it and it fixed the clicking! Bit of a result really and a cheap fix to boot. Also did my discs and pads while I was at it!
  24. Why not take the Zed on a few track days at an open track where the chances of hitting a wall or something are negligible? I went on one this year and the Zed is more than capable (Mine is a dd, so I was also terrified of crashing). I would definitely benefit from £2k of driver training over another car and associated running costs.
