  1. I prefer private to be honest - after all, secondhand car stealer will know nothing about the car, whereas an owner selling you their pride and joy will. And even if a private seller hides something from you, your no better off with a stealer as they wouldnt know about any issues in the first place. However, if you turn up and the owner can show you a religious service schedule, and talks animatedly about the car, your likely buying off an enthusiast, which in my view is the best way to buy
  2. I really like splitters and that looks Big front bumpers are a bit marmite, but splitters give a car proper race look, and that stillen one looks really good.
  3. applying it retrospectively is a bit harsh - if that was the case over here there would be quite a few decent cars that would cost less to buy than they would to tax!
  4. liking the wheels - Tenzo DC-5s? although should have gone for 19s rather than 17s... thats some high profile tyres on there!
  5. you'll rarely be able to use all the power on the road in day to day driving, so when you are able to get out for a proper drive it'll feel special. Its just the little moments... joining a 3 lane A road at midnight a few nights ago i stayed in 3rd all the way to the redline - goodbye, lesser cars! Just need an exhaust for full aural pleasure!
  6. its for this reason that im not going to bother tuning my zed... just not worth it for the cost. Im going to get an exhaust for noise, but other than that, i'd put the money towards a supercharger. the difficulty in tuning a 350Z was one of the negatives for me when considering the car - it would have been considerably easier to tune a turbo car for more power, but the advantages of a smooth torque curve and no lag helped sway me to a zed
  7. a well driven car would be faster off the line without tcs - you need a degree of slip for an optimal start, but if the tcs is on it will cut power when it detects slip. on the other hand, if you're a bad driver, then tcs will stop you lighting up the wheels and going nowhere, or spearing off sideways into a tree.
  8. post videos when its fitted!
  9. lol that'd be a scorpion or a cobra then! Y pipe back exhaust for about 400 notes. everything else is north of £800, and a lot of the really nice kit is over a grand. (but normally comes with a y pipe as well)
  10. Also more importantly? whats your budget? all the above are irrelevant if you're trying to do it on the cheap...
  11. No worries there, a exhaust wont give you any extra power on its own, for that you need filter, plenum spacer, decats and an uprev. the exhaust is purely for noise the scorpion and cobra systems are y pipe back, not cat back... they just replace the centre pipe and the back box. A full cat back system replaces the y pipe as well, but that typically another £200-300 more. I would worry that if the flange has gone to the backbox, do you also need a new y pipe? Anyways, if its a system thats just quieter than a K1 you're after, id go for a non resonated Cobra exhaust - i think Tarmac is your man for these
  12. yeah, it would be phenomenal when its working, but i just dont think that would be very often... i considered one when i was thinking about a zed, but after having bad experiences with other early nineties sports cars, i decided it had to be something modern. TVRs are awesome, no doubt about it, and the sound they make is , but i dont think i could live with one day to day, an S2000 would be a way better bet these days.
  13. me and a mate bought an old 328i and trailer for track use - the original plan was that everything was a 50/50 split - we did 6 days together, and shared the driving on the day as equally as possible. Luckily we were in the situation that the car was so cheap that if we did bin it, we'd just split the losses and buy another one - we didnt have anything in writing though. In the end we had to sell it as my other car at the time was costing me more and more money so i could afford to keep it going, also (although i didnt say this) my friend was charging out petrol at a business rate per mile - admittedly he was doing all the towing, but if i was doing any towing, i would have just charged for petrol, rather than petrol plus wear and tear on his car. Another point was he was keen to buy things that i was less keen on - such as new tyres for the trailer, new ratchet straps and a couple of other bits and bobs. I'd do it again, but as i say, make sure you both know what you want before you start, and also i'd plan out what days you'd wanna go and how many days you'd be doing a year, so you have an idea what the costs are going to be.
  14. very nice! any future plans?
  15. Well last nights episode was a good one - everyone doing what they do best in my opinion A good crazy race for Hammond, a decent car twin test from Clarkson, and then another decent duo from Clarkson and May on the demise of SAAB. And once again, it was about cars! Only thing for me which was a bit weak was the guest, not being a huge Dr Who fan, but who really likes the SIARPC segment anyways?
  16. 12" width! Yikes thats wide and a lot of stretch with only a 265 tyre! Still very good price for someone!
  17. Ok, the standard BOSE CD changer is doing my head in - completely unable to play cds, and radio just has too many adverts! However, with the amount of faff in taking off the dash, finding all the right leads and getting an HU to work with the BOSE amp and all the steering wheel controls, i dont want to do it myself. Can anyone recommend a decent ICE installer in or around coventry? Would stretch to birmingham to get the job done right!
  18. a wise move - pics?
  19. just a point... aren't the reflectors there for a reason? is it an MOT fail to have them wrapped?
  20. nice skills!
  21. work best or suit best? 18s work best, 19s suit best
  22. Annoyingly i'd be right on your route living in Leamington spa, and well up for convoy, except im driving up to scotland the day after for a week, so cant make it! even more annoying im missing the wales meet as well, bad times! (But 1000 miles up to scotland and back will be sweet lol)
  23. hmm seems a bit much for me for a 2003 import, even if it is only got 26k on the clock - but low mileage is not a reason for poor servicing, check to see its been serviced every year regardless of mileage - id say £7200 tops, as older imports can drop to below £6k now but on the plus side, i love the bodykit - someone do a replica in the UK, that rear bumper is
  24. Thats the one! Might see if i can find myself a new desktop background
  25. standard size is 225width on an 8" rim, and then 245 width on an 8.5" Rim, 255 would fit a 9", or a 9.5 with a bit of stretch I think a 275 or a 285 would need at least a 10" where was that site that had a whole load of pics of zeds, along with their rim tyre and offset values?
