Excellent that you posted an update. Too many threads like this just die and people google the same problem and never find the answer. Glad you resolved it! I`ll look out for this heatshield when i fit my scorpian!
  3. Im puzzled now as to what they are. The speed camera ones they did near me were roughly a 1/2 mile apart at least, so from what your saying, these are going to be far to close to be any use for that. It does sound that they are putting power there for a reason though... cant be street lights as they dont bother with boxes for those... Let us know when you find out more!!!!!
  4. Sounds like you got a good deal then. 311quid. Just shocking the difference in prices. I guess they think people who live in Cambridge are loaded... which in fareness judging by the cost of houses here they must be! 55 for an MOT is a bit steap. My mates just had his done at F1 in cambridge for 25quid. But, im not sure id trust any kwik fit type place with my car..... Hope it all goes okay!
  5. Well done MC! Excellent thread indeed. Hope other traders do a similar thing in future!
  6. Ive a 313, but not had it actually dyno`d before and after so cant tell you what sort of actual bhp differences any mods have made on the rolling road. Ive spent a lot of time reading reviews and other peoples experiences with the 313 and the feedback ive had is that you will be very lucky to get any major power gains out of it as it is just very good as it is. Ive fitted cosworth panel filters and a different exhaust and on the road it does feel more responsive and thats before having a remap. Id expect with a remap only to gain a small amount of power overall. Maybe 10->15bhp if that, which really makes you wonder if its worth it for the cost. You could supercharge, but thats mega bucks. The engine itself is widely regarded as being bullet proof and ideal for forced induction. In my opinion, its not really the car for trying to extract lots more power, as it will work out expensive.
  7. Look as shiney as mine! Im cleaning them every week now just to make sure they dont get grubby again, its amazing how dirty they get just from a weeks motoring.
  8. Ive still got mine on, but its just too loud really for a day to day runner. The whole cabin booms like mad and if you are doing 2000rpm in top and accerate slightly it makes your whole head vibrate and boom. Im someone who is very used to loud exhausts on motorbikes and cars, but this is the first time ive actually ended up getting a headache just from the exhaust boom! Not tried it with the bungs out. And it might be just cos mines the soft top so you get more noise in the cabin. If you can cruise at 3000rpm then its not as bad.. but thats nearly 90mph which isnt ideal. The noise when you floor it through the power bands in 2nd & 3rd is amazing tho. Its a shame it wasnt quieter below 5k for cruising, then just loud over that. I`ll be swapping mine out for a scorpian system later in May when I get some more cash.
  9. Speed cameras. The council did the same down my road, then a few weeks later speed cameras were installed next to the boxes. I think the council put the wiring etc to those smaller boxes, then the police / council / speedcamera contractors come in, fit the speed camera and wire it up to the box.
  10. excellent thread. To the OP, if your looking for a zed, look on ebay or autotrader, that will give you an idea of the prices and whats avaliable. Also, piston heads forum has a good for sale section also. I think everyone on here has given good advice. You are not likely to find a zed, even an old high mileage import for the 6k price. So the choice is either to buy a smashed up one and fix, or increase your budget. Good luck.
  11. Or a 1995 Rolls worth 20k if you believe one of the comments posted on that article. The "No expense appears to have been spared on the car, which can reach speeds of 130mph and does around 14 miles to the gallon." made me laugh... 130mph for 850k?!
  12. I was going to say. I saw this one on autotrader when I was looking a few months back. Was very tempted myself, but the GF wanted the roadster.... sigh.
  13. You maybe able to call up Nissan and have them check the reg number to see if its had any services done at Nissan dealerships which may not have been put in the book. The AA / RAC inspection is a very good suggestion. They dont cost that much compared to what they may save you in the log run.
  14. Id walk unless the seller could prove to me that the car had had major service etc. If he`s got cash then id have expected him to have a service history, unless he hasnt had the car very long. If its cheap, its cheap for a reason. Key thing is not to let your heart rule your head!!!!
  15. It was a tough decision, but im glad i did go with the alezan replacement. Just hope that this one lasts longer than the 22k miles the original one did - the original looked like it had done 100k!!!!!!! Very easy to change over on mine. Just unscrewed it and screwed new one on. No clamping of gear stick or anything. Nice and easy.
  16. As above. I posted exactly the same thing a few weeks back and ended up getting a brand new alezan gear knob from Alex. They are quite expensive items in general though, so you may prefer to go for an aftermarket alloy one instead. I had to go for alezan really to match the rest of my interior.
  17. Sounds like hes pretty keen then if agreed a price over the phone and he`s flying up on a 1 way ticket!
  18. Bose / ipod hack. Think the lead was something like 5quid from ebay and took me an hour or so to fit. Well worth it.
  19. Looks very clean. Love the interior and those wheels!!!
  20. Good luck finding a good garage. Ive had so many bad experiences in the past with garages in general that the only person I trust to service my car is myself now. Ive heard mixed things about marshalls, but have not used them personally so cant comment. To be honest, I think most main dealer garages are the same. Ive met mechanics who work at the local Lexus, Skoda and Honda garages and I wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw them. I think you`ll be much better off with a indy or specialist if you can find one.
  21. christ. does that mean they will jack up your insurance because you have a Z on the plate?!
  22. Ive seen everything now. Detailing a house alarm cover..... brilliant!!!
  23. Good choice on car! To be honest, I hadnt even considered getting a 350 when I was recently looking for my next car. Then, I saw one in a garage, sat in it and was "wow" this just "feels" right. I then took one for a spin and immediately it went from being off my list to being at the top! Less than 1 week later id bought one. As for daily practicality, well, I use mine every day. I commute about 90miles a day for my job. Ive the roadster, so my boot is probably about 1/3rd of the size of the coupe. I dont have any probs with it so far. All my daily stuff can fit in the boot. If I hit the local supermarket for the weekly shop then that will fit in the boot and in the passenger foot well. Only time I can forsee problems is when I need to get some DIY stuff from b&q or the garden centre, in which case i`ll have to pinch the missus`s car. Other aspects for a daily runner will be the road tax - £450(ish) a year, petrol - 26mpg for me atm, tyres - £500(ish) a set, insurance (pretty high!). I came from a Golf GT TDi which was costing me road tax - £250, diesel - 58mpg, tyres - £60 a full set.
