Welcome!!! Gunmetal rules!!!

Funnily enough thats exactly what i have just done brought mine down and my misses down by over £400 in total. So i am now £650 with protected no claims, extra personal cover, £250 excess. which i think is bloody impressive considering im only 25, and I have my missed who is 24 on the car aswell. They brought her insurance down from £700+ with £800 excess to £400, £500 excess on her Mini Cooper s with me on it aswell. Really chuffed. (with out protection mine would be sub £600 i am paying around £90 to protect but kind of figurered at my age its worth doing) In my experience (and I'm an old fart too) - protecting your no claims is a con - I had a bump a fair few years back, no claims was protected but my premium went through the roof - go figure Ah, thats because whilst your discount is protected you still have to let them know about any accidents you have had - whether your fault or not - and they then automatically jack the premium up anyway to reflect that.

Whats needed to make one of these work with roadsters? Presumably there is something which plugs into the back of the bose system which works with this thing?

Well, just got back from 3 weeks on hols and checked and my whole portfolio is about 30% down! Hope things start moving in the other direction soon!!!

I noticed my fuel gauge seems to vary the amount of fuel its showing as left depending upon how I drive it. For example, yesterday it was showing 1/4 tank left when I started it up. I took it for a spin and gave it a bit of stick. The needle on the gauge quickly moved to nearly in the red. But, then when I cruised back through the village at 30mph the needle then moved back up to 1/4 tank left. Ive noticed this several times before so im guessing its normal and the fuel gauge display is some how linked to DTE.

31mpg is awesome. I do 90miles a day on my daily commute, cruising at about 60mph most of the time and im getting 26mpg. My previous car was an old golf tdi and i was getting about 58->65mpg driving it the same way.

Another thing I would add is that each car is different. I found that out with my Yamaha R1. I spent quite a lot tuning it up and on the rolling road it was still only producing the same sort of power a stock one. In the end I blew the engine up and replaced it with another second hand one. The replacement engine, with all my other bits on was miles more powerful. Even though it was supposed to be identical. In all honestly you have bought the wrong car for cheap mods. Most of my mates have subaru wrx`s, and they have all tuned them up easily and cheaply to get silly power - one of the benefits of a turbo car. One of my mates friends has one kicking out 727bhp and im sure its cost him less then my stock 350z did. But, for me the zed isnt about mega performance mods unless you have serious cash to throw at it. For me its more about the experience of enjoying what is a great car.

Simple Bluetooth Question that Nissan CAN'T ANSWER
rabbitstew replied to seech's topic in 350Z General
yeah its taking me a lot of time to try and get used to the posh bird on the sat nav. Compared to Jane on my Tomtom who now sounds positively common as muck in comparison. I love the way the posh bird says "in 200yards you will reach a rrrrrooooundabout" as if shes really supprised theres a roundabout there! -
I used to commute on a brand new Ducati 748SPS for a while before I swapped it for an R1, then used that instead. R1`s are cracking bikes for commuting on, nice and easy around traffic. Ive not been out on my 3 bikes for ages. Just not had the time to finish off the mods on them. Hopefully will have more time this year.

Simple Bluetooth Question that Nissan CAN'T ANSWER

Sorry to post on this thread, but its reminded me as I have a similar question - which speaker does the sat nav voice come out of? On mine it seems to just come from the passengers side speaker. Is that normal? -
Texas Trip - Day 9 - 5 Zeds and 1 million bats

Awesome! Im well jealous! -
I just used the stock ones on mine, they looked fine, no wear.

Definately the HR then. Out of interest how many miles has it done if it needs a new clutch?!

If headgasket failure is mega unusual on the zeds then I think, if it is indeed the headgasket which has gone you need to do some investigation to find out why. On my missus`s car a failed headgasket was unheard of. Turned out the reason it blew was because at some stage someone had got a hole in the radiator, the coolant had ran out and the engine had cooked itself. The rad had been replaced, but the damage had been done by then.
-
Your right, looking at the trades its nearly 100% buying at the moment. Which is why i dont understand why the price has dropped from 24 to 20 since yesterday. Surely if there is mega high demand for the shares then the price will normally get pushed up? supply & demand and all that. If noone wanted the shares and 100% were selling then the prices should drop? Or am I missing something here. If the prices are dropping to 17, then why isnt everyone selling now, ready to buy back at 17?!

Welcome! Another roadster owner here!

Cost wise, give them a bell and get a rough estimate. The head gasket went on my missus`s 4 cylinder car last year. Gasket itself costs about 50quid, but the estimates I had came in at over a grand when you factor in labour, oil etc... On her car, the book said 14 hours labour alone! I was expecting around the 500->600quid price for that. Hopefully the zed is easier to work on! But its definately a job id only let the experts do, dont want some back street garage stripping my zed`s engine down!

I wish computers we not so complicated. Don't know why they don't just do what I ask them to! Am I getting old? Think so mate. Happens to us all. I used to understand them too, but now I struggle to work the sky + box even!

same here! your a brave brave man!

Sounds like it could be some sort of security setting. Have you lowered the security setting in the browser. Also, try turning off your antivirus / security software - then try accessing the site. You can turn it all back on after, but that will help narrow it down as to whether its norton or mcaffee or whatever being too strict. If it is security settings, then you can always add www.350z-uk.com to a "safe" or "exception" list in the browser / security software which may help. Good luck on keeping the zed when the little one comes along. My missus is on about babies atm (panic!), and im dreading having to sell the zed and get something "more sensible". My mate managed to get around this by getting a subaru wrx which is tuned to around 400bhp, but its got 4 doors so his missus technically couldnt argue.

In general ive not been impressed by how easily some of the stuff on the zed starts to corrode & rust. The body work on mine looks fine atm. But loads of bolts and nuts around the car look like they should be on a 20 year old Rover. Stuff like the bolt/screw which is on the door jam near the lock. Its so badly corroded and rusty on mine it really stands out, when the rest of the door is shiny and looks new. The exhaust system was so badly corroded, in the end i had to cut it off with an angle grinder. Its stuff like this you really dont expect on such a young car. The 11 year old Volkswagen Golf I just got rid of was a pleasure to work on. Underneath looked nearly new and whenever i did any mechanical work on it, i never ever had any rusty bolts to contend with. Really makes you wonder how the car will look by the time it becomes 10 or 11 years old.

Yeah tescos and sainsberrys have done this for years. As people say, it encourages people to spend 50quid or whatever of shopping (at probably higher than normal prices) in order to get 5p a litre off. Around my way, Morrisons doesnt do super unleaded, but they are by far the cheapest fuel station in the area. I drove by last Saturday and they were queuing out of the forecourt and 1/4 mile down the road waiting to fill up with petrol.

Is lSE also frozen for RRL yet? The anouncement said it was applied to ASX. Should be interesting indeed. I was tempted to buy some more last week, but decided to err on the side of caution. Hopefully if RRL does well it will off set my losses on other shares atm.

How does the odb2 bluetooth work? does it litterally plug into the odb2 socket and work automatically with the stereo? if so sounds good to me! Forget about iphone bluetooth. My missus has an iphone and apart from the long list of things which iphones cant do, which other phones have been able to do for 10 years or more, we also found bluetooth was not really bluetooth. Normally on phones you can bluetooth business cards, images, even music files to anything (laptops, pc`s, other phones) using the bluetooth. On the iphone we couldnt get it to work at all. Which was anoying, as ive got a bluetooth handsfree earpiece which ive used on my last 5 phones and last 3 workphones without any problems, but is no use to her iphone. Apparently iphone have crippled the bluetooth to only work with certain iphone add-ons. Bit like how they crippled the connector on the bottom so even previous "apple approved" charges and accessories wont always work with the iphone. In fact, some early approved iphone accessories wont even work with the iphone 3g onwards.

Mine has a similar whirring noise - bit like a clutch thrust bearing. Apparently its normal!
