  1. The cost of the time taken to review each case on a personal basis would far out weigh the cost you might save on your premium. Yep, and wouldnt save them any cash at end of the day. Oh well!
  2. jesus, that guy can not be serious surely? cutting holes like that in his frame!!!!
  3. One of the best ive seen is the bloke who runs my local shooting ground. He`s got a black range rover with black windows and the number plate is B1 5HOT
  4. I'd be interested to know if that's correct, my roadster has radio controls on the left and cruise control on the right of the wheel. Thats how mine is. I know the roadsters didnt have the phone bluetooth wiring in them (guess they figured thye would be too noisey for hands free phone use.
  5. Thanks. Its a joke these days. I have been driving 20+ years without making a claim, or a claim against me. 2 years ago I was paying £550. Last year £970. This year I was quoted £2488. I looked around and got a quote for £1466. 1 week later they contacted me to say they had undergone an audit and I was quoted incorrectly. I was a high risk customer and they required another £800 to insure me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I nearly past out. HIGH RISK - what the ****. I have since browsed around and have managed to get it for £1100 with a High performance car insurer, which I have to be happy with. They want all the details on security, including docs for tracker etc. Man that sucks. I really dont understand where the insurance companies get their figures from sometimes. Its all based upon statistics rather than common sense. Like you, ive been driving well over 20 years without any claims, but, the insurance companies i spoke to only take into account 5 or 6 years NCB. So, they dont give you any extra discount, when clearly 20years with no claims should be a safer risk than 5 years with no claims. The post code thing makes me laugh too. I currently am the youngest person living in a very quiet cul-de-sac full of old grannies. The road is so quiet you can hear a pin drop and theres never been any trouble or problems here ever. Noone comes in or out of the cul-de-sac without about 40 curtain twitchers making note of their every move. Bizarrely the postcode is a "higher risk" than my last house which was actually on a main road in a busy city where there was trouble nearly every week. Also the street / drive / garage thing also anoys me. You get cheaper insurance keeping your car on the street where it can be crashed into or damaged by anyone, rather than keeping it locked up in a secure alarmed garage at the end of your drive behind iron security gates with rottweilers wandering around. Mind you, the insurance companies dont count "secure gates" or nasty dogs or anything that as being accepted security. The majority of companies also dont take into account what car the driver is used to driving. So you could jump from a nissan micra straight to a ferrari and as long as your personal details were the same, be charged the same as someone who has been driving ferraris for 20 years. And yet, if you get 3 points for doing 1mph over the speed limit, they immediately bang on a 10% increase on the policy. I really think insurance companies should take into account each policy on an individual basis rather than tar everyone with the same statistics.
  6. Nice points indeed... okay, maybe im persuaded! I did see the review she did of the 350z on youtube the other week, she still anoys me tho! Dunno why! Just one of those things!
  7. I had the same thing happen on my ZX7R and the engine overheated.
  8. Interestingly, on confused.com when i put in my reg number for an estimate it comes up saying that its GT. Might be worth trying for your car. Also with the GT pack & Bose, im assuming they all had the steering wheel radio controls? Or do non-bose cars have those controls anyway?
  9. I think that's a cracking plate for a Ninja! Surprised it wasn't worth anything! Yep, it really looked the part on the ninja and got loads of looks. Cost me £250 from DVLA and all reg transfer plate places said it was worth about the same which supprised me as i thought it would be worth loads more. Unfortunately the reg sellers dont actually buy it from you, they just try sell it on your behalf and take commision, so they had it up for sale for 6 months and noone wanted it, so I let it go. Its a shame you cant transfer plates to older vehicles, as I had (still got) a 1994 ZXR750 ninja in the garage which I could have transfered it onto. In retrospect I should have let it go with the bike really when i sold it so the new owner could benefit from it.
  10. Stick it on my motorbike if you want Nic! Well you know how fond I am of the Ninja! Especially orange! But would you really want N11 XYD on your bike? I used to have NI3NJA on my zx6r ninja! Had it valued and it wasnt worth anything, so i stopped paying the yearly retention fee when I sold the bike and let DVLA have it back. God knows where it is now. They have probably sold it on again i expect.
  11. Lets hope vicki henderson butler doesnt drive it, she just really anoys me.
  12. http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/ Cheapest Yep, but limited choice now as the best ones have been snapped up. Can still get the odd bargain tho.
  13. Im trying to persuade the missus to let me go to this as its litterally 5mins down the road from where I live - I can hear the dragstrip from my garden! Whats the parking like at the pod? Dont want to leave my car in the carpark for it to be trashed! Are anyone meeting up before hand so we can drive in together?
  14. Same here, im building up quite a collection now. You do have to check the reviews before you buy them though, as some are just dvd transfers and not worth the money. Others really do blow you away with how sharp and the definition they have compared to dvd.
  15. Certainly sounds like it could be a common problem then with the newer 2007 / 2008 cars then. Typical! Still no call back from the dealer, so will give them another bell today. Now I darent put the hood down in case it pulls off the rivets all together and i get stuck with it down! And sods law its a lovely sunny day today!!! Sounds like the extended warrenty isnt worth the paper its written on, so its down to the dealer as to if they will fix it or not.
  16. lol! I was looking at similar places for my 07 but they had all gone. The only one I found which looked half decent for my zed and dvla wanted 1200quid for it, which id rather spend on mods than a plate. Ive got 2 personal plates, both cost £250 from dvla. I did have a 3rd, but couldnt justify the yearly fee just to keep it on a retention certificate. Its funny how popular private plates are these days. My cars had 2 previous owners and both of them put private plates on it, and my missus car has also had 2 previous owners and both of them did the same!
  17. Man, that really puts you off Nissans. But mind you, ive just had the same. The main pulley belt on mine was frayed like mad and looked like it was going to snap. Ive only had the car 3000miles and 8 weeks and so the problem was clearly already there. Phone up Nissan Warrenty and "no, sorry, its a consumable so we dont cover it". Its only a £29 part for f**ks sake, surely you`d think they would do it out of courtesy when you fork out £15k on a car. But no. Now ive just noticed the roof support bar is peeling back like the OP on this thread has. Call to Nissan Warranty and "sorry, the roof is part of the bodywork so we dont cover that". They did say however that the garage which sold the car should fix it free as they shouldnt sell a car with problems like that. So, call to garage at 9am this morning, and they say bring it in for them to look at so they can see what the problem is and decide whether to repair it... problem is, they can only look at it in the week, and they are 70miles from my house, and I work in the week. Sales guy at the time told me that I could take it to any Nissan garage, so now im waiting for them to call me back and let me know if I can take it to my local Nissan garage here. Here we are 6 1/2 hours later and still waiting for their call back. Doesnt really inspire you with confidence.
  18. Ive pretty much tried every insurance company and the cheapest this time around for me was Admiral, which came in at 700quid. Thats for someone whose nearly 40, been driving for 20 years, has 18 years NCB on a car. Ive also been riding high performance motorbikes for 18 years and have about 12 years NCB on my bike. I tried all the "specialists" listed on here, but they couldnt come close. One which offered "forum discount" actually came in at 1200quid. I was quite shocked at how expensive the zed was, it came in about £200 more expensive for me to insure than a BMW M3 SMG and a Porsche Boxster. As a comparison, I pay £250 for a GT TDI Golf, £66 for my Yamaha R1 and even had a quote of £83 fully comp for a track day Renault 5 GT Turbo I have. Everyones different though, so really it pays to try the main comparison sites, and call people like adrian flux who have offered me good prices before.
  19. £5600?!! Christ, that is cheap. Makes me wish a bit that id bought one like that myself and id have nearly 10k left over to mod it!
  20. Has anyone else on here with a Roadster had the same problem with their hood?
  21. Give me a week and i`ll let you know. Im currently replacing my 2 year old Samsung i8910HD and my HTC Hero with 2 Samsung Galaxy S2`s. Yep... 2 of them... One`s for work and one`s for personal use. I had a play with one in the local shop and the only thing which put me off a little was the screen is pretty big! Apart from that, it looks like it has loads going for it. I have been seriously impressed with my old samsung, it really was an awesome spec when it came out, and even the iphone 4 struggles to beat it, and having used Android on my Hero, ive been impressed with how easy it is, how quick and how much you can tweek it. A lot of places are sold out of the Galaxy S2 tho. Ive been waiting for Orange to release them since January, and even now, they still have none in stock - unless you get a generic one from "phones4u". Apparently Orange got some in last Friday and sold them that day. Also, T-mobile have a 3 week wait on these according to their Customer Service section & the local shop here.
  22. Really makes you wonder though. Firstly most race cars have cut off switches etc on them, so why wasnt the cut off key removed. Plus, if you are having cars on show, surely you would have some sort of antitheft device fitted to stop people trying to climb in and start them up. Secondly surely the stand would have members of staff keeping an eye on things - the last show I went to we had about 10 members of staff on our stand and noone left anything where someone could steal it. Then the security at Santa Pod... do they have any? Although i guess they dont normally check cars coming out as they probably assume the driver is the owner. Also all seems very strange, if you are going to nick a car like that which would more than likely be stripped for spares, the first thing you`d do is to hide it in the back of a truck or trailer or warehouse. Not drive it down to London, stopping at garages to refill where you will more than likely be seen on CCTV etc. Still lessons to be learnt and hopefully changes to be made.
