  1. Is the used oem exhaust still for sale? Assume you changed for an upgrade? Regards John
  2. poncho, I've been told I need n/s and o/s front lower rear arms. I assume these are also termed control or banana arms and are what I need. Is there any difference between Hr and de variants. I've got the Hr, cheers. john
  3. Amazing just how resilient and swift healers dogs are. Not sure if you've got many tablets to give but that was a 2 person job and meant getting your hand right inside the mouth and beyond where the tongue bends to prevent him spitting them back out. Like you, we are having to make some sacrifices this year (hols, golf membership downgraded to social status for this year etc) but fortunately still enough left to fuel the zed!!! Hope he's back to normal quickly
  4. Only just picked up this thread, and thoughts with you that the dog pulls through. still relatively young and fit but not sure what the implications for life without a spleen means? Cracking looking dog though. If its any comfort, we had a similar experience in November. Went away to Rome for a weekend break and leftour 9 year old Dalmatian with my sister. He was a bit off his food on the Wednesday, but my sister has 2 greyhounds and is familiar with his normal behaviour. He didn't eat much on the Thursday while we were away but we had a call from my sister at 6am on the Friday to say that they were at the vets, he'd been diagnosed with "twisted gut" and had been prepped for an op but my sister needed to know what we wanted to do straight away as he was fading fast. (he had gone out with the other dogs at 5 ish in the morning but didn't come back in and was found just lying under a bush not moving,... I think he knew his time was nearly up). This is an excrutiatingly painful experience for the dog and the vet warned us that 25% don't make it off the table. We are not insured and the estimate for the op, treatments etc. was £2-3K. Tough call when the dog is 9 years old but we decided that because he was otherwise fit and healthy, had no previous health issues, prognosis was good if he got through the op (they stitch the stomach to the chest wall to limit the possibility of it happening again)and ultimately he's one of the family and we felt he deserved a chance. So he had the op., pulled through, within 2 weeks had got all of his character back and now we're paying off the bill (slowly!!). Insurance is a difficult one. I took the decision when we got the dog that previous pet insurance for our cocker spaniel had been uneconomic in terms of premiums paid v benefits received, partic. once excesses, non qualifying treatments etc. had been factored in. This was the first big bill I've had for Bailey since we've had him so if I calculate what I would have paid in premiums over nearly ten years then I don't think I'm significantly (if any) worse off if you take into account an excess aswell. In hindsight, perhaps I should have set up a little account and paid a few quid a month into that rather than face the problem of finding £3000 upfront. Not sure what happened with the first vets diagnosis but Bailey had an xray or scan upon arrival to confirm the vets thoughts. Since this happened to us, I didn't realise it was such a big killer of dogs and is more prone to present itself in deep chested dogs. Anyway, I guess my points are that you made a tough decision to try to save the dog, its worked so far and therefore no regrets. The dog deserved it's chance. Think about insurance going forward, but most importantly, enjoy the relationship with you're dog...it's even more special now And a good excuse to post a pic of our dog who's gone through a similar thing and I'm pleased we gave him a second chance.
  5. Even if it is a 2008, how does it qualify for "cheap road tax at £225 per year". What is PLG taxation class?
  6. If they're anything like mine, they give a passenger quite a fright when engaged. A bit of electrical insulation tape over the speakers in the boot muffles it a bit
  7. As Kyle said, the "tax" band for the car is almost certainly going to be the same (prob v. similar emissions)so your beef should be with the dealer not DVLA. Be interesting to see what other members views are on the difference in value between the 2 models, but more importantly, the value between the 2 models when you acquired the vehicle. I have access to my back catalogue of CAP if you wish to pm
  8. This happened June 2011.Presumably we've all been sharing the roads with this scumbag for the last 2 years. Don't understand why it takes this long to get to court!!??
  9. Hope thats not your house in the background, somethings not level!!
  10. did any paperwork/agreement get signed with t's and c's of the basis and obligations of both parties? Who did the respray?, ask to see the invoice wouldn't want to write off the full £500 just yet. might be a case for a certain squirrel of this parish?
  11. Just seen the massive pile of notices ready to go out to all BB employees Behind each one is the human side of these closures........v.sad the executives who are nearly always responsible for these failures will no doubt move on to other well paid jobs, its the employees i have genuine sympathy for
  12. Couldnt agree more. To use one of Ricey's favourite terms - it makes my p*ss boil! Its not tax evasion thats going in, its tax avoidance or minimising tax by legal means. If HMV were savvy enough, like Amazon and countless others, they'd have set up a supply chain abroad and used it to ship in CD/DVDs cheaper. Its their own fault for not being clever enough to use the system to their advantage. Really its the law makers that should have sorted it out properly in the first place to stop it, but then you might also stop some very important imports to the country. I dont know the ins and outs of it all but you cant blame companies for minimising their tax. agreed, viz goldman Sachs proposed delaying of payment of bonuses to minimise tax liability to their staff. mervyn king has got the right approach, whilst not evasion, he let them know he thought it was immoral and they backtracked. Unfortunately, the tax statute is that complicated, the gamekeepers (tax collectors) turn poachers when they go to work for the big accountants and have a better understanding of the loopholes than the civil servants they leave behind. Problem is it remains easier to collect from hardworking Joe employee than the multinationals.
  13. Looked closely into these 2-3 years ago when it was time to upgrade my wifes car which is also used to tow our caravan. Was a close call for a second user full size non premium 4x4 but ultimately chose the Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD Limited with the merc 3 litre V6 diesel engine and have been really pleased with it. By comparison the Pathfinder just felt a bit lethargic and harder work. Also i think the Pathfinder is slightly bigger which my wife felt might cause issues for supermarket car parks etc. Nevertheless the Aventura is well equipped and probably slightly better finished interior wise than the Jeep. Guess it partly depends what sort of use you expect to get out of it. Not sure if the 2.5 engine in the Navarras has a reputation for blowing aswell. No doubt you will google to confirm Hope thats a little help and have fun looking
  14. £215 /month insurance quote i'd work on getting that down and then do your comparison Never had or driven an RX8 but we all pay a bit of a premium (insurance, fuel, RFL etc) for driving a car that gives us something to be passionate about. You've just got to decide how much of a premium that's worth to you. Try a zed and see if the big  it hopefully gives you makes it worthwhile. What's your budget?, Not really looked into it but guess a similar age and mileage zed is going to come in a bit more than the rx8 aswell
  15. Looking good. Weren't put off by the possibly "ugly" alzean leather then!!
  16. The longer you think about, the more the beemer is losing in depreciation. Bite the bullet and find something to be passionate about
  17. Welcome nice find, good colour and spec with the alezan and gt4 alloys
  18. The smile it puts on your face when you approach it, start it, drive it and walk away from it. Not sure if one or two others may have had dealings with this trader but can't be much of a "specialist " if he describes it as "Silverstone" grey? Nevertheless looks like plenty of history which is always a good start
  19. Wasn't sure about the colour/combo with twilight grey and was going to play safe and try and find one with black leather. However the alzean does "work" with this colour and i've received only genuinely complimentary comments about the leather and pleased i went down this route. Probably takes a bit more effort than the black to keep looking A1 but worth the effort. Like AMT though, dont likke the older ones with the bit of trim on the steering wheel I came out of a black e39 with black seats and roof lining so was probably in need of a bit of a change aswell. Don't be put off

  21. . and will look out for you. What colour? I live in Bournville and work near Dartmouth circus. Still don't spot that many around town. . In respect of tyres servicing etc., i find i cannot beat Selly Oak tyres for price, service etc. and have also had full wheel laser alignment done there. Had my first P1 done at Colliers Acocks Green but not sure i would go back there again. The P3 was done by the garage adjacent to selly oak tyres with all the service items, fluids etc. purchased from zmanalex. I know a few guys have used a firm near Coleshill called zedworld i think, but thats the wrong side of town for me. Enjoy the car and keep smiling
  22. think its a a fair point if the vendor wishes to use the fact that it is one of the last 350's as a selling point however has scored an own goal by poor choice of words/phrases. Even a bit of tongue in cheek "if Carlsberg made a zed, probably...." might have worked better. Has opened the ad up to poss. ridicule but on the other hand theres more of us that know about it now than before! i have a similar car but in no way would i describe it as the best colour (i had to compromise somewhere). As for the best spec., many of those last run out zeds had the spec upped to include GT4 alloys, alezan, parking sensors etc. (on top of the sat nav hes mentioned) to help shift them which that car doesn't and would be a "dealbreaker" for me. dont think those were HR's though
