Surely not right? Brembos under 40quid?
stubzie83 replied to coldel's topic in Spotted on Ebay or Other
After buying some last night, I had a look at the sellers negative and neutral feedback and there is a lot of comments saying that the seller came back saying the item was out of stock after purchase. Buyers were then either offered an alternative brand or had to wait a long time for a refund. I had a look through the positive feedback and couldn't find any feedback relating to brake products so those of us that have bought them might spend some time chasing a refund if it turns out to be bogus. -

When I just bought a pair a little while ago, I noticed that I had these in my watch list and they were previously advertised at £502 so they've changed the price for some reason. It's possible that they meant to put in £375.40 and got the decimal point wrong. Hopefully these come out at the advertised price. Shame they don't do the rears as well! -

I've just bought some before they realise they've cocked up on the pricing. I'll let you all know what happens. -

I'm sure that they are the correct part number. It's weird as I've seen this company advertise them at £250 a pair before and then when I checked back a week later they were £502 a pair! Perhaps they've realised that £500 for standard brake discs is just too much -
I believe the syncros in fifth and sixth gear are known to go bad and create the grinding when changing gear.

Engine sump washer: Copper crush washer, inside diameter 11mm outside diameter 17mm, 4mm thick before being crushed can be purchased from ebay quite easily, I got 3 for about £2. Diff and gearbox washers are the same size, nissan part number: 11026-4N200. These are about £2.70 each! Inside diameter 18mm outside diameter 25mm, 1.5mm thick. These are plain washers rather than crush washers and are not copper.

Awesome info, yea they measure dB(A) half a metre from the exhaust tips, I would hope the new exhaust would be just a little quieter than a pneumatic drill DB Yeah the perceived loudness will be based on the tone of the sound as well. Most exhausts have quite a narrow frequency range and less high frequencies so don't necessarily sound as loud as say a drill which has lots of frequency content and is an unpleasant sound. Of course it will be a lot quieter inside the car as you won't have your ears half a metre from the pipes. Also sound levels in open air tend to halve (-6dB) about every 7 metres which is why at outdoor gigs they have to have speakers placed at varying distances from the stage to keep the sound level up for those people who couldn't make it to the mosh pit at the front Decats are quite loud, I was behind an Impreza STi with decats yesterday and it drowned out the sound of my zeds exhaust and the radio (on 30mph roads) and smelt quite bad.

Has the car been used regularly/daily? When I bought mine last year it seemed that it hadn't been used that much for a while by the previous owner. The steering was really heavy and the gear box was very tight. After some daily use the power steering got lighter and the gearbox felt a lot better. I think the regular use helps to get all the fluids moving and probably gets any stuck air out of the power steering system.

As a sound engineer I can tell you that 98dB is quite loud. Depends whether is 98dB unweighted or 98dBA which is 'A' weighted and gives a more accurate reading of what the perceived loudness is to the human ear. 98dBA will be a lot louder than 98dB unweighted. For example the sound of a pneumatic drill at 1 metre is about 95dBA. For reference anything over 85dBA is considered to be damaging to human hearing and current health and safety legislation dictates that you shouldn't be exposed to these levels for more than 8 hours per day without hearing protection. At 97dBA the max permissible exposure time is 30 minutes before permanent damage occurs and at 115dB it's 30 seconds! For every 6dB increase the sound pressure (amplitude) doubles and the human ear perceives a doubling of amplitude for an increase of about 8-10dB. So if for example the stock exhaust is 80dBA then at 98dBA then the amplitude will be about 8 times that of the stock exhaust and will sound about 4-5 times louder.

Mine does it as well and it's only noticeable when pulling away in 1st gear. Sounds a bit like a sonorous, metallic resonance in the gearbox. I put it down to the throwout bearing as it's pretty loud at idle on mine. I have to admit it's getting worse on mine of late as well though.

I made an offer and paid £85 for it. I found that the one of the ends that wraps around the bumper at the front of the wheel arch to hold it on was a bit off and it was bending the plastic of the lip out and not fitting against the bumper. The other side was Ok though. Also the centre section that goes below the grill has a gap at one end as the curve has been cut a bit off and you can see the bumper colour below through the gap. This can be filled in though. Also a few other slight gaps elsewhere due to the bad finishing but this can be fixed quite easily with a bit of sanding. It also sticks quite far forward and is a lot bigger than the Nismo V1 lip that it is based on. I'm also not sure how to attach it. It came with two brackets that fit underneath into pre drilled holes underneath the lip. Doesn't seem to be anywhere sensible to attach it to the car though as they only seems to line up with the air deflector on the bottom of the bumper rather than the bolt holes on the under tray. I would advise against getting one as it will be a lot of hassle to fit and you'll either have to drill holes underneath the front somewhere and possibly in the wheel archs or tape it on. You might get lucky though and get one that has been trimmed properly and fits. I guess I've learned my lesson for buying a cheap one.

I bought one of these the other week and it doesn't fit very well Looks ok on but the fit and finish is poor. Still trying to mod mine to get it to fit properly and not sure if it will ever fit properly. Might end up in the bin yet!

A few annoyances: airbag light/speakers/rattle
stubzie83 replied to womblingfree's topic in 350Z General
+1 My airbag light has come on a couple of times usually after moving the passenger seat about. A quick fiddle with the connectors underneath and a reset and it disappears again. -
People should know about what they are selling!!
stubzie83 replied to Lexx's topic in Spotted on Ebay or Other
Umm, a bit more Veilside than "Nizmo" (sic) as he likes to call it. Apparently it's "faster than a smack head on a jet bike" too! -
Mine will be for sale soon.£425, collection.PM if your interested. Selling the car, so getting the goodies off. Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it. I'll have a think about it whilst I'm away next week.

Are these still available? I quite like the idea of getting one that fits properly and has the flared out tips rather than the straight cut burnt ones.

Would the drivers side door handle fit a UK spec 2004 GT? If so I would be interested as the edge of mine was scratched quite badly by the previous owner.

The saying "pink and green should never be seen" springs to mind

Not sure if applies to UK cars but in the US owners manual it says that the alarm system can be activated with the windows down. Only the doors, bonnet and boot lid need to be shut for it to work. Also can be armed with passengers in the car. This would suggest that it doesn't have a motion trigger. The manual also states that the alarm will only go off if the doors are opened with the car still locked, the boot is opened without unlocking or using the outside release button or if the bonnet is opened from outside without using the release button or whilst the car is locked. Having said this, the UK versions might have motion detectors as I'm sure my UK owners manual had something about pressing the lock button twice within 5 seconds to deactivate the alarm whiulst still locking the car. I would check it but I'm in France at the moment so no access.

I wouldn't bother with a type R. The latest shape one is not that good. A friend of mine bought a new one and sold it within a year because he hated it that much as a daily driver and it guzzled petrol. I was a passenger in it a couple of times and I have to admit I didn't really like it, really has to be thrashed to get it moving and the interior is a bit weird. It's also only a 3 door and access to the back seats is a bit fiddly as the front bucket style seats don't move forward that much and the gap to get in the back is small. The front seats also don't go back to the last used position when you put them back up so you're constantly having to readjust them if you're accessing the back. The ride and handling was also a bit crashy and hard as it's a torsion beam rear suspension rather than independent like the old version was.

Would you let this woman drive your Zed?
stubzie83 replied to stubzie83's topic in Off Topic Discussion
She is rather lovely. Yeah she's very fearless especially driving in stilettos. I guess the question really is 'could you trust her to bring it back?' -
Found this randomly on youtube:

Wow, that is one fugly mini. I thought the 4x4 version (which I see lots of recently ) was enough of an abomination but this is really nasty.
