  1. I would be interested to know about the Mongoose as well as there is very little info about it. I have considered the Cobra but I think it might be a bit on the loud side and the video they have on their site isn't the best.
  2. +1 Was thinking the same thing myself after reading that thread yesterday
  3. They're for standard/JDM brakes. The Brembo fitment part number is DBA 4601s. This might be why they are cheaper.
  4. Bit of a thread revival, but did anyone ever get a mongoose or magnex system on here? I would be interested to know if they're any good sound wise or have any fitment issues if anyone has tried one. Can't really find out a lot about them but am interested by the 4.5" tip option. Cheers, Steve
  5. Welcome and nice Zed you have there I noticed the front tyres are 'Sunew'. Not really heard of these but I think they might be budget 'ditch finders'. If you find the grip is lacking then upgrading the tyres might be a good first step
  6. Regarding front fog lights, it would seem that most VAG cars and some mercs now have a system where one front fog light comes on as the steering wheel is turned when the headlights are on. This might be a helpful feature but it looks a bit silly and means peoples fog lights are flashing on and off every time they go around a corner. Might also encourage others to use their fog lights all the time Also it seems recently that every third car I see on the road only has one headlight working
  7. There are also some videos on how to install a DBA disc from DBA themselves. Details cleaning and runout measurements. They are on this page: http://www.dba.com.au/tech-articles-2/
  8. I would measure the run out as the tolerances are very small. For the front discs the maximum allowable is 0.05mm and for the rears 0.07mm. This is not possible to determine visually without a dial gauge. I replaced my discs with DBA 4600's recently and found that the hub has to be very clean or the runout will be excessive. Without measuring the runout I wouldn't have known how much to clean the hubs. Took several cleaning attempts on one hub as the old discs left a lot of crap behind and there was a lot of old copper grease everywhere. I used a brass wire brush attachment on a drill and some brake cleaner to remove all of the crud on the surface. I was then able to get the runout on both discs down to 0.03mm. With the DBA slotted discs you have to measure the runout on the very edge of the disc otherwise the dial gauge goes down the slots.
  9. These are the standard 18" wheels. I've got these on for winter with a set of winter tyres. They were in need of a refurb when I got them so had them painted anthracite and powder coated for a durable finish. I put up the pics just to show the colour against a gun metal car. I'm sure someone must have anthracite rays on a GM somewhere. The pics haven't come out the best as it was bit of a dull day when I took them and in the flesh they look even better. I would imagine that the rays might lose a bit of their size perception wise (as with a black or other dark finish) but should look pretty good. Just have to make sure that the centre caps get painted as well otherwise it would look a bit silly.
  10. Not rays, but will give you an idea of anthracite on gun metal. Will be getting my rays done in hyper silver it shadow chrome I think
  11. Best to paint them as they have a slightly rough finish for the paint to go on. I painted mine myself with a rattle can from Paints4u. Turned out really well. If you do paint them yourself make sure you put on some plastic primed first otherwise, the paint can flake off.
  12. From the comments it seems that the black zed was supercharged and on new tyres and on a wet road. Hit the accelerator and then lost it. A good reason not to cruise next to each other when someone can misjudge it like that

    Brakes binding

I used to get this with my old Brembo discs. If the weather was wet when parking up after a few days of being parked up the pads would stick to the disc and it would take some extra throttle to pull away for the first time along with the associated clunk as the brakes release. When I changed the disc front discs I found outlines of the pad in rust on the inside of both front discs and not surprisingly the inner pads were difficult to remove It would seem that the inner pads had become rusted on to the disc somehow Perhaps this is what you are experiencing. I only had this happen during cold, damp weather and leaving the car parked up for a day or two.
  14. Can we also have pipe diameter as I'll be looking to bolt that to my existing motordyne XYZ pipe, and if they don't match in size it'll be a great shame. Any power gain predictions also? Warranty on these? I've been looking at these exhaust for while. The mid pipe bore is 3"/76mm and they are sold as cat back by Exoticspeed (from looking at their website and part numbers) so will come with a Y pipe. Don't know if you could get Y pipe back and save some cash, guess that's one for Tarmac to answer.
  15. Nice to see you selling these exhausts Tarmac. I was going to ask you if you could get them but now my question has been answered! I've seen these exhausts on ebay but was always put off by having to import them from Canada and the sellers on ebay look a little dodgy. Just a couple of questions on the exhausts: Is the only difference between the R1 and the R1-T that the R1-T has the burnt titanium parts whereas the R1 is just polished stainless steel? Are both the R1/R-TR the 'PWR' edition exhausts? Do you still get a choice of tips for the R1? I've seen Hyper black tips on the Exoticspeed website and am interested as to what they might look like on a Zed. Better get saving!
  16. Hi All, Couldn't find a lot of specific info on this with a search so I'll ask here. I have an annoying rattling/ticking sound coming from the drivers door card particularly when traveling on rough road surfaces that cause vibration through the chassis. I've found that if I press my elbow against the door trim at the top behind just behind where the door handle is the sound stops. My question is does anyone know of any fixes for this type of rattle? Will I have to remove the door card and play around with it or is there something I can try externally first. I have read that the air vent that runs through the door can rattle but I don't think it is necessarily the case here. Cheers, Steve
  17. Thanks mate - thats really helpful. I will look those things up. I have never been on an all inclusive before as I usually like to have my freedom to go where I choose - how did you find that element of the holiday? I guess it will still be varied as there are 7 restaurants. It can't come quick enough now...! Well it was my first all inclusive as well, as I'm more of an adventurer on holiday and like to go and see things and explore. However, it was nice to have all of the facilities at your doorstep and included. Loads of pools, bars, swim up bars and a private beach. Also just being able to get food and drink any time you like is great. You meet some nice people as well so it's good. You definitely do need a few excursions to break up the lazy days by the pool. We only went for a week so has difficulty fitting in all the things that we wanted to do, but two weeks might have been too much. It's a shame they don't do 9-10 day packages as I think it would be ideal.
  18. Send him a PM. He has a sub forum under professional traders section of the forum
  19. The 350z doesn't have a cam belt, it's chain driven so no replacement necessary
  20. Went to the Grand Riviera Princess on the Riviera Maya at the end of November 2011 with the GF. Was a great holiday and the all inclusive resorts are huge. Most of the larger resorts looked really good and are all set back from the main road with beach access. There are a few excursions you can do. We went to Chichen Itza (ancient Mayan city, see an idiot abroad series 1 for more) which was a good day out but a very long coach ride from Riviera Maya. We also went to Xcaret which is a eco park with lots of animals, nice natural things to see, snorkeling, dolphins and lots of shows including a 2 hour show in the evening. There is also an adventure park next door called Xplor which has humungous zip lines and underground caves to swim in. Both of these are fairly close to Playa del Carmen. Plenty of things to do there and the locals are very friendly, would thoroughly recommend it
  21. Thanks Paul. If you could find the name of the place that would be great. AFR have moved to Crawley now according to their website and are just around the corner from my work. I will get in contact with them if you can't find the name of the company.

  23. Hi all, I've been considering a front bumper respray due to stone chips and some minor scrapes left by the previous owner. I managed to put another fairly obvious scrape on it today in the car park at work and now think it's time to actually get the respray done as it now looks obviously damaged. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent paintshop in the Horsham/Crawley area or in the rest of West Sussex or even Surrey up to Dorking/Leatherhead area. Thanks, Steve
