Oh, sorry mate thought someone would have made a copy of it by now as an after market kit

Service manual says to use Dot 3, but you can use dot 4 or dot 5.1 as well as it exceeds the spec of dot3. I think dot 4 is probably more readily available than dot 3 these days as well.

Looks great always been a fan of the R34 GTR. Just needs a V-Spec body kit to make it

Just for a sanity check and as you've had the wheels off, make sure the tools and your locking wheelnut socket are secure in the boot as they can rattle and knock if they're loose.

What you think of your panel filter mate? I'm getting a new zorst in june and i was thinking of dropping a panel filter in as well. Was thinking about an ITG, HKS or the likes. It's not too bad. I might have imagined it but the car seemed a bit more eager at low revs and pulls a bit more cleanly in high gears at low revs. Having said this the old filter was very dirty so it might have just been a change to a new one that helped I wouldn't expect too much from it performance wise unless you remap but the Pipercross one is washable (foam rather than paper or cotton) and so should last the lifetime of the car which was one reason that I got it. It might be my imagination again, but i did seem to noticed a bit more induction noise at full throttle after putting it in.

Yeah just how they are. My 1st gear is a bit clunky sometimes and so is 2nd. I think I know what you mean though, when crawling in traffic at very slow speeds it is nice sometimes to put it back in 1st especially if the engine is labouring a bit. I do this sometimes and it can work but it can be stubborn sometimes, you need to be very close to stationary for it to work.

I think this is normal. You shouldn't really try changing down to 1st whilst you are still moving

Yes bought with money. I chopped in my Ibiza TDi and paid the rest in cash for an 04 plate.

The airbag light does stay on for about 7 seconds after the ignition is turned on. It should then go out. If it starts flashing on and off after this time then you have a problem. Not sure about the other lights. I would make sure the MAF is connected up properly as you will get check engine lights if it is not plugged in. The car will run without the MAF connected but will revert to a emergency engine map as it can't measure the air flow coming in.

I got tired of owning a diseasel and decided to get something good before it's too late and things got too expensive. Although petrol then went up by quite a lot after buying it Still love it more than the oil burner though

Hi all, I was wanting to put a cargo net in the back but have just realised that one of the D ring attachments at the rear is missing. Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a spare one that I could purchase from them? Cheers, Steve

Interesting... Where in Crawley do you work mate, as I very rarely see another Zed here? I work at the big set of buildings on the corner of Manor Royal. I see a few zeds around here and someone else has an 04 GM where I work as well (although it has a big dent in the passenger door) . I even saw a nismo kitted zed a week or two back right outside work and a 370. So a few about.

According to the service manual the rear brake caliper bolts have to be tightened to 71.6 - 97Nm, so they should be ok to get off. I believe it's the hub bolt that is set to 250Nm and you won't need to take this off unless you want to get the wheel bearing or drive shaft off.

Hope you find a good one. Prices are quite good at the moment as everyone seems to be selling up.

I find the mpg display is about 0.4 -0.6mpg optermistic (I reset with each fill up) against calculated mpg from brimming the tank and working it out which is pretty good. My old Ibiza TDi used to be about 6-7mpg optermistic using the same reset method each tank against calculation which is very poor.

Yeah my sat nav seems to show that the analogue dial is accurate up to about 50mph and then it starts to read over with 70mph on the dial equating to 67mph on the sat nav. I guess the digital one would show different to the analogue due to rounding up or down as the digital one only gives whole mph values. Highest mpg on a run I have seen is 34.8mpg doing 45-50mph over about 30 miles on country roads. Normally average 24-26mpg over a tank on my normal work run from Horsham to Crawley (12 miles each way some urban/traffic and then A roads).

When I got my Zed the exhaust pipes were black with grime. Would not shift with normal soap. I used Brasso to loosen up the grime and then some contractors solvent (orange oil based) to dissolve the sticky tar and other stubborn residue. I then used Meguir's NXT metal polish to get them shiny. The Megs contains a wax and makes them easy to clean, just wash and then top up with Megs to keep them looking shiny and clean

If the guy who's doing it has a drive with a car parked in then buy a cheap banger for a couple hundred sheets, park it across his drive whilst his car in on there and then puncture all the tyres or take the wheels off and leave it on bricks thus blocking him in and causing him a ball ache. If you do it in the middle of the night it would be a nice surprise for him in the morning -

That's pretty bad if they're coming onto your property to do this. Guilt by association is also not a nice feeling. Can you approach the council and get them slapped with an ASBO? Perhaps your video evidence might be good enough for them even if the rozzers can't be arsed with it. -
+1 on Nitromors, I used it on an electric guitar that I was repainting and the paint just melts off

The sump plug is just a hex head nut. Not sure what the size is think it's about 12mm. You'll need a copper crush washer (I got some on ebay 3 for £2.99). The filter is quite small and there are quite a few available at different price points, I think the K&N ones are ok and they have a handy nut on the end so you can use a normal spanner to tighten and loosen them. The oil type is discussed quite often. I would think most brands with a viscosity of 5W-30 would be fine. I believe people on here have good results with fully synthetic oils. Opie oils web site has a recommended list of oils for the zed and they do a discount for forum members.

It'll take a while to sand them down and you'll have to make sure they're perfectly smooth or they'll look crap when painted. Might be better to get them sand blasted or chemically stripped somewhere first. I think wheels can be painted with normal acrylic or cellulose based paint the same as the body work. I think results with spray cans will not be good, best to use a spray gun and a booth.

Sounds like you could do with a garage. I'm fortunate enough to have one and it's great peace of mind. I really hate having to leave my zed on the street overnight when I'm around the girlfriends or anywhere else. I still quite regularly see bog standard family cars/sheds with huge key scratches down the sides and it always makes me sad that people derive pleasure from doing such things. If you know who the culprit is then as previously said it might be worth having a chat with them, preferably with a few big threatening looking mates by your side.
