  1. and a few checks and a stamp An MOT should suffice for the checks. Why pay twice?
  2. Ta mate. I just handed that directive to my wife :-)
  3. Yeah. Just realised when I clickedon your link in the sig.
  4. I think they are dark grey mate no Jay they are shiny gloss black I thought your wheels looked silver chrome colour from your other thread about the wheel specialist? PS, I just posted a question on there I'd like your opinion of please. Jim
  5. "I've just got my car back from the valeters - the wheels look evil - thanks for a nice job" Hugh http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/File/LeedsTestimonials.php I've just visited the wheel specialist in Swindon. Booked in for next Friday. I looked at the TWS silver and it looked too glossy compared to the Rays that I have (they seem more of a satin finish). I also looked at an example of the black chrome and didn't like it much which I found surprising as the picture of your Rays alloy wheel looks amazing. The black chrome seems to be black paint with a light silver top coat. How would you describe yours? I can see the spokes and rims look heavily silvererd but is that the same for the whole wheel or are the walls behind the spokes just black? On a side note, got back from Swindon, when to Halfords for some screenwash, then kurbed my N/S/R wheel on the way out of the car park! Good job they're being refurbed on Friday so I didn't get all freaked out over it! Jim
  6. Yeah. Shell V-Power price difference compared with Shell Unleaded is 10p!!!! Normal 5 or 6p. I'll fill up at Sainsburys from now on.

    insurance

I've just gone through the exact same exercise. Do they think that having kids is a distraction and makes you more likely to have an accident? Do they not realise that the zed is a two seater and can't take child seats? Jim
  9. All depends on how far you want to travel. I had my Z repaired by carteckniks on the A30 near Hook (Basignstoke) recently. They did a fantastic job at a fair price. http://www.cartechnicksltd.co.uk/ How come your quotes are so high, are they wanting to replace the bumper and wing? The photos look like both should be repairable - certainly the bumper anyway. Jim
  10. Silver 350 coupe and green 350 convertable. How they keep them from being bashed and dented round here with the traffic madness amazes me! Don't ask me what the plates are! They're in Arabic.
  11. I'm with Elephant who is part of the Admiral group. Never had any complaints. They seem to have sorted out my accident repair without any issues although I declined to use their legal branch "Albany Assistance" as the reviews I have seem for them are pants. So I insisted that they use a repair center of my nomination and that they deal with the issue themselves rather than Albany Assistance. Other than that all worked out very well. I'll happily use either Admiral or Elephant in the future.
  12. All I can say is that I visited them when I was looking for a Z. I'd never go back...
  13. Swap you with an all expenses paid trip to Beirut if you like! No? Ok, anyone got a kevlar vest I can borrow?
  14. How much! I asked three local dealers for a P1 5 year service. On the last call I said you're having a laugh. All that for an oil change (they weren't going to do the plugs!). You could hear a pin drop as the guy on the other end tried to think of something to justify it quickly. Just as he started to mumble I hung up. I did my own service. I'm not being held to ransom for a service stamp. I keep all receipts and a record of what work I have done and when. Did you get a quote first? Oh, they wanted an extra £200 just to change the plugs! Sod that.
  15. Just wanted to give you all an update. My car is now repaired and is good as new. The body shop has done a fantasic job. You would never know it had ever had an accident at all. No paint lines around the doors, boot or bumper seems. Absolutely seemless and flawless paint work. Cost of work was only £675 so not too bad a price. That included a full repsray of my rear bumper and removal of previous signs of minor reversing accident too - not just the dent removal of the wing and repaint of wing. My insurance company has paid for all of it and waived my excess fee so it didn't cost me a penny. I expect my insurance company will recover all costs from the other insurer without any problems so no effect on my no-claims bonus. The bodyshop that did the work is in Hook, Hampshire just off the A30 and are called CarTechnicks. http://www.cartechnicksltd.co.uk/ They work with Lamborgini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Jaguar, TVR and Zeds (the owner had eight 300zxs). I whole heartedly recommend them.
  16. I had suggested fitting a small fan to circulate air and hence remove any condensation...

    HELP

Remove the spare tire. Remove the boot rubber seal. Remove the plastic trim. Remove carpet. Remove metal bracket at back of boot above the polystyrene. Remove the polystyrene. Now you can get at the amp. Seems like a lot but it all comes off quite easily as it is all clipped in.
  18. That may have been my thread about crumpled Z. It was elephant who are also admiral. My moan was about Albany Assistance. To be fair, since telling elephant that I do not want to deal with Albany, they've handled everything without any signs of hitch at all. They've authorised the work with the repair center of my choice which was not the cheapest quote that I provided. So hats off to elephant although it's not over yet as they say. Jim

    centre caps

Take the wheel off or you will certainly damage the wheel around the center cap and probably the cente cap too. You may want to put them back on if you don't like the look of the ones your replacing with (if that's what you are intending to do).
  20. I gave the other chap the choice and he decided to go insurance route. Elephant called me today to confirm if I wanted a hire car or not which I don't. They were actually very helpfull this time and confirmed that they have waived my excess and that they will pay the repair center of my choice directly in full. So that's good news I think. Next task is to make sure the body shop is aware of my "exacting" standards. i.e. I don't want to see any paint / overspray lines on the inside of the door frame or on the metal work you see when you open the tail-gate.
