  1. Is this for real? Maybe I skim read it too much but there was nothing really conclusive in that report. The video was somewhat lacking too. If you had a whip lash injury what's the first thing that a doctor would do? Put a neck brace on - no? They certainly wouldn't attach a device to your head and pull it around. Can you imaging the lawsuits if someone was paralyzed because of an already weak neck and the use of this device? Absolute madness. Was it posted on April 1st by any chance?
  2. Are you sure about that? Some cars use an RFID chip in the key fob for immobilisation which does not require a battery. Jim
  3. PS - you're not daft. You bought a car that you wanted to enjoy. So why not keep it in tip top condition. They're just jealous because they wish they could afford to run a car like the Z - perhaps?
  4. £78 sounds good to me although I'd whip both off and respray myself but then I have a little bit of experience and good results of spray painting. As they are quite small they are excellent candidates for spraying yourself. You need to prep them properly - sanding with fine wet and dry. Fill and marks, then sand again. Then paint in very thin coats (don't want drips etc). Lastly lacquer coating in fine coats again. Any blemishes between coats can be removed using fine wet and dry. Finally polish for perfect finish - autoglym super resin might do the job once the paint has hardened for a few days. Just take your time and don't rush any stage. If you c*ck it all up, get it done for £78. If you don't c*ck it up, then enjoy your work and be happy Either way, be happy
  5. I have a feeling I'm about to put my foot in it again but hey ho, no guts no glory Husky, just face it, we own a make/model of car that attracts... chavs!
  6. Does the seller know if the exhaust had been replaced? It's fairly common for the Z exhaust the fail at the flange after five years so a 2003 car could possibly have a 2008 exhaust fitted. Jim
  7. I don't actually know but I'd say that the date was the date the exhaust was made not the year of vehicle it was made for. Usually car parts to fit specific year of vehicle would be identified by part number. Jim
  8. When you get your new one, don't have the keys in your hand when you open the door as that's usually the cause I find. Jim
  9. Did you know that Admiral and Elephant are the same company? One wonders how do they get away with it?
  10. People on here amaze me too. The op was asking for guidance about whether it could cause any damage. Posting opinions without any evidence to back it up is irresponsible. Maybe it won't cause any harm. Maybe it will over long term use who knows. Do you?
  11. What proof do you have of that? Are you willing to pay for a new engine if it damages his engine?
  12. Oh yeah, maybe the spark plugs too. Other than that they promise a full inspection of the car which they do on other services too which should also be covered by the MOT inspection - so you're really paying twice (or even more at Nissan prices) for the same thing. Did I mention the donuts?
  13. Nice one Alex for putting me straight on that one
  14. Did you have much trouble with the fires? If you ever need a hand with the car give me a shout and I'll see if I can help.
  15. Why do you think the cost of repairing would be more expensive if the belts snap? The belts on the Z don't drive the camshaft so you're not looking at bent valves or dented piston heads. Power steering would fail but not cause a repair unless through lack of steering you write the car off. Water pump failure but you would have stopped the car because of the power steering issue so not a big probability of over-heating. The battery light would also come on because the alternator isn't being driven. For the other belt you would miss the air conditioning but still no costly repairs to be had. I'm not an expert by any means so maybe I missed something out? DIY job is easy, if you have ramps or axle stands and a simple socket set and providing the bolts on the undertray aren't seized. I didn't have any problems with my bolts though and haven't heard of any such problems. If you are mechanically inclined then certainly go DIY. You'll also realise how easy it is to do your own oil changes. Before you know it, you'll be changing the plugs too. Then you'll wonder why you pay Nissan hundreds of squids for a P3!
  16. Bag of jam donuts for the guys. Curry night out. oh yeah, nearly forgot... Oil and oil filter
  17. Best get the belts changed. If you don't know the service history then go for a full P3. Best to be safe than sorry.
  18. Wouldn't they have failed an MOT?
  19. am currently insuring 3 cars with them including the Z and you would not believe how cheap the fully comp insurance was on all of them... will see what happens next year when it comes to renewal though And when it comes to renewal, all three cars will be up at the same time. So easy to do a price comparison for all three vs the multicar policy - no?
  20. Sounds to me as though your father needs professional help to help him deal with his problems. It's not something that you can do by yourself. Jim
  21. I use petrolprices.com or their iPhone app to always find the cheapest local petrol station. Usually this turn out to be Sainsburys. So no need to waste time and petrol driving about to find the cheapest.
  22. There is a volt meter on the dash... You could use this to check the charge, cranking voltage. It probably reads well under 12v when you turn the key. Jim
  23. Normal for the Z unfortunately. Although I would recommend staying in 2nd unless stationary in any car. Jim
